Anal retention/Constipation in 2 y/o

My daughter is 2y/o and began having constipation issues ever since adding solids around 7 months of age. I nursed her until 18 months. I have several food intolerances, so I have kept them all out of her diet, except for eggs, which she tolerates fine. We have tried seemingly every dietary intervention for constipation to no avail. She is now scared to poop. I can see her holding it in, and her behavior changes dramatically when she needs to go. We have used Oxypowder (magnesium supplement for clearing bowels), which helps her go, but if we lower the dose or take her off of it, she experiences the same problems. Her stools are formed (when off the magnesium), but not especially hard usually. She doesn't seem to think much about pooping until she hasn't gone in 2.5 days and begins to feel uncomfortable. She is very intelligent, high energy (though not overly so), a bit of a perfectionist, orderly, and likes to be clean. I regret being too controlling about the whole bowel issue thing earlier on (as I was afraid of the consequences of constipation, failing to see that I was making things worse). Please let me know if there is other information that would help. We've tried nux vomica and cal carb, which haven't helped. This issue is a daily one in our home and very distressing!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
i don't know why do you think that eggs will help her in her constipation. Generally fiber rich diet like spinach etc is recommended to those suffering from constipation. If there is lack of urge to pass stool you may try alumina.

Sorry for the cinfusion, I didn't mean to say that eggs help her constipation (as I know egg whites can actually cause constipation...), but rather that she's not allergic to them. Since her diet is so limited already, we were hoping not to take them out, but I have started giving her mostly the yolk only, which unfortunately hasn't changed things much. Also, she had major struggles before we even introduced egg whites, around 15 months of age. You're right about the fiber, but you would be amazed at the amount of fiber this girl eats! Spinach, Kale, asparagus, artichoke, raw green smoothies. She loves apples (and I don't remove the skin), and other high fiber fruits that supposedly get things moving, but not in her. Constipating foods (like cooked carrots and bananas) make it worse, but helpful foods (veggies, prunes, apples, molasses, etc) don't seem to make her budge. I'll look into alumina. Thanks for your reply.
