Pancreatic Sone- Calculus on the Head of Pancreas

Sirs,
My wife, aged 53,5.4'ht.,healthy, had a sudden upper-abdominal severe pain spreading around the stomach.Admitted in Hospital and since antacid painkillers did not give relief, the attending doctor started Antibiotics&Enzyme(Amylase&Lipase) therapy,as bloodtest showed abnormal presence of Amylase&Lipase. With that, pain has subsided. On taking CT Scan a Calculus(Stone) was found near the Pancreatic Duct. The attending doctor advised for ERCP referring to a team of Gastroenterology doctors at a speciality Hospital. They on further investigations have found that the Calculus is not Ductual, but on the Head of Pancreas and that it cannot be surgically removed. For one week she was not given any food, but kept on IntraVenus-Dextrose.She was discharged after starting on oralfood and Enzyme Therapy and Omega3-oil-supplements.,-kept strictly on fat-free food dieting. Her weight has come down from 59kg to 54kg in 2 months. The specialists doctors diognised it as 'Troical Calcific Pancreatitis' due to genetic/hereditory reasons.Food control and Enzyme therapy are to be continued lifetime and there is no surgical or other remedies in Modern Medicine(it is said) to remove the stone or to halt growth of it since it has become a part of the Pancreas. If it grows in size, inflammation and pain/complications can start again. Her present bloodsugar and Amylase are normal, but,Lipase is a little higher(348U/L)than the normal of 114-286U/L.

Is there any Homeopathic medicine or treatment to melt the Calculus on the Head of Pancreas or halt its growth, without affecting/injuring the Pancreas.? Any Profl. advice will be highly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I have successfully treated about 10 patients who presented Calculi in their Kidneys and Gall Bladders with Berberis Vulgaris 6c in the Wet dose taken twice daily.

I do not have any experience with treating a patient like your wife who presents a Stone in her Pancreas.

However since there is nothing to lose and hopefully something to gain in using this same remedy, I would like to suggest that you give her Berberis Vulgaris 6c in the Wet dose taken twice daily and observe how she responds in a few weeks.

You can read more about this remedy on the link below:

berb.htm " rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/b/berb.htm

You will note that there is reference to both Kidney and Gall Stones but none for Pancreatic Stones which are very obviously rare.

I presume that the various tests that she has had can show if this remedy is helping and we can hope that it will do so.

Please note however that this is not an instant fix and may take a few weeks or months to show some positive signs.

Be assured that it cannot aggravate her condition.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in a 5ml Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before sipping a capful of the bottle as directed.

Dear Menons,

On calculi: It will be proper for me to remind you of other medicines particularly Calcarea Carb, Urtica Urens, Hydrangea, Pareira Brava, Medorrhinum, Acid Phos and various other medicines which are equally important. Prescribe only on the basis of similimum. Stone pains of Berberis Vulgaris are of radiating type; patient can not locate the exact spot but can definitely point to renal area. It is mostly on left side. Patient will be pointing a wide area of pain. Bubbling sensation in the renal area. It helps to expel the stones, particularly Oxalates. It is also effective in other types of stones of the urinary tract and gall bladder. Gall stone pain also has the similar symptoms.

Prescribing notes: A few characters to be remembered.

1. It is a chief remedy in all cases of calculi - gallbladder, renal, pancreatic and salivary gland.
2. All complaints with urinary and biliary symptoms.
3. The constant rapid change of nature and location of the symptoms.
4. Radiating pain.
5. Predominance of left sidedness.
6. Portal and venous system involvement.
7. Aggravation from motion: walking and any sudden movement.
8. Similar to Cantharis, Lycopodium, Sarsaparilla, Tabacum in renal colic.
9. In rheumatic complaints acts well after Arnica, Bryonia, Kali bic, Rhustox and Sulphur.

Ref:(1)From Joe De Livera
----------------------Thank you so much for the valuable advices.
While discharging from Hospital, the doctors have advised us not to take any substances or medicines that contain Alcohol or any fermenting substances, that may inflame the Pancreas further.Ethanol is a form of Alcohol.
Nowadays, Homeo medicines are avilable in tablet forms. If Berberis Vulgaris is avilable in tablet form,I will try,but in case pain comes back again due to any symptom-stimulating effect of the Homeo medicine,we will have to rush to the same Hospital. So,I am afraid whether experimenting or testing with such medicines may do more harm.

----------------------Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. In Homeopathy it is symptomatic treatment, but testing or experimenting with Pancreas is considered risky, however,we will have to try.I will come back with the Answers for the Questions asked.

I am 34 years old, suffering from Pancreatic Stones. Luckly Dr has identified Pancreatic Stones for your Wife. In my case, i have to suffer for 3 years to know its Pancreatic Stone which is causing Pancreatitis. I would suggest you take your wife to Asian Institute of Gasteroentrology at Hyderbad, Dr Nageshwara Reddy. He suspected stone by mere looking at my stomach. Stones were removed without surgery through ESDW and ERCP. [Small pancreatic stones can be removed in a minimally invasive outpatient procedure called endoscopic retrograde choloangiopancreatography (ERCP). Here, a device called an endoscope - a long, flexible, lighted tube with a camera - is inserted through the mouth, down the throat, and past the stomach to view the pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Small stones can be removed with this device, but stones larger than one centimeter require other treatment. In the past, surgery was the only option, but today a procedure called lithotripsy provides an alternative. The procedure takes one to two hours and involves the use of shockwaves to break the stones into very small pieces so that they can pass through the pancreatic duct. Patients are anesthetized during lithotripsy]
