question about increase in depressive symptoms
I have been reading alot about the physical withdrawal symptoms of going off effexor-diziness, exhaustion, etc. I am in the process of getting off Effexor-just decreased from 150-75 mgs last week. My doc is hoping that the reduction will help the mood stabilizer that I am on to sustain my better mood which seems to come and go. So...here I am feeling depressed-very apathetic and not looking forward to anything. It's not that I was ever feeling that great on the Effexor, but the decrease seems to have increased my feelings of apathy and lack of hopefulness. Has anyone experienced this and what, if anything, helps. I want to get off this drug and hope that I can. Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I am on Lamictal-325 mgs. It seems to help for a while then not. My doc satys that the antidepressant can destabilize the lamictal-what a bind. This stinks

try taking some avena sativa herbal drops while coming off the medication - 15 drops 3 times daily in a little lukewarm water. This will begin to help with the withdrawal.
If you want other help with say homeopathic then you will need to give us a description of your depression - when it started, what might have triggered it and anything else you may want to tell us that may help us to help you.
Do not despair - there is plenty of hope and potential within yourself, which you will find!:)

I can tell you a bit more about my depression. I find that this is a difficult time of year for me, and it's not unusual for me to experience a more accute depression. I am a sexual abuse survivor and certainly this plays a big part in my experience. I am not sure what triggered this experience-it feels like it could be anything and everything. I already told you my symptoms that are with me most of the day-with little that works to distract me. I also have Hashimotos Disease-Hypothyroidism. I think my levels are stabilized, but I will have a repeat blood test to check.
So...that's the story, at least as much as I can decipher. I am open to any suggestions and will try the Avena Sativa. Thanks for your help.
