Enlarged Tonsils in a 2 year old female.

My daughter is 2 years old. Her tonsils are so large that she has been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Per the sleep study performed, she stopped breathing over 150 times that evening. Surgery is the option offered.

She is healthy and happy otherwise. Not tired or restless at all, but energetic, precocious, and talkative for her age with a very large vocabulary. Maybe a little thin, but this could be attributable to her being petite.

I know there is a remedy. I've seen several offered in other forums for older children. What would you guys suggest (format, potency and dosage) to shrink the swelling of tonsils in a 2 year old little girl.

Please help. Please also be explicit, I'm new to homeopathy and don't understand some of the abbreviations.

Thank you,
ka

Hi Ka,

Do not go for surgery as this problem can be resolved through homeopathy.

Moreover surgical removal can cause problems in the long run as certain disease 'layers' can get stuck once you remove the part where the manifestation of symptoms was happening.

What is her exact age ?

Please talk more about her behavior, fears and anxieties if any. How is her interaction with the family and outside people ? Any negative feelings she has towards someone ? e.g. anger/envy..etc..

Also, talk about your pregnancy as to whether any stressful events that happened during the same ?

What are the general things that make her feel better or worse ? (e.g. any impact of a particular weather, sunlight, seashore, rubbing, open air, music, thunderstorms..etc)

What are her food cravings or aversions if any ?

Thank you, Sameer for responding. She is exactly 2 years, 10 months and 9 days old. She will be 3 on 11/27/10 at 2:46 pm.

As far as being anxious or afraid of things...she doesn't like to enter dark rooms, she wants the light on first. She doesn't like for inanimate items to move by themselves...like balloons or toy cars that you pull backward and then let go. Another anxiety is being without her pacifier...which she still uses daily. She chews on it and I often wonder if any lingering germs or foreign substances on it or even whatever it's made of could be breaking off in her mouth and causing the problem with the tonsils....but it's supposed to be hypoallergenic or whatever...you're not supposed to be able to be allergic to it.

When she's telling me about arguments that she has at school, she seems to forgive very quickly and always wants to 'be best friends' with everyone. She's very friendly and talkative and doesn't have any problem striking up conversations with complete strangers. She really enjoys interacting with the family and always likes to be in the middle of everything.

My pregnancy was uneventful with no hardships or difficulties. I do remember her feeling very heavy before she was born, much heavier than my son felt, but when she was born, she actually weighed less than he did. Other than than that, she was late and labor had to be induced...but she came along just fine after that. Her father and I are not together...that always makes for a stressful situation, but she enjoys visits with him and doesn't seem to miss him between visits.

She has had problems with allergies, but seems to be growing out of them with the large tonsils being the last vestige of any problems in that area. No particular weather makes her symptoms worse. I do catch her breathing out of her mouth from time to time. I check her nose for stuffiness, but it's always clear. Then I have to tell her to breathe out of her nose and close her mouth, which she does with no problem. I don't understand her predisposition to want to breathe out of her mouth when her nose is clear.

Initially, she had ear infections frequently. I was told that removing the tonsils would stop the ear infections. At this time, she was just 18 months. I wouldn't even think about surgery. I found some eardrops at the health food store and began using them. Now she doesn't have ear infections anymore, but the tonsils are still a problem. Now it's her breathing while sleeping that's being affected.

The Ear Nose and Throat doctor says that there is no infection in her tonsils, and that he is seeing lots of children whose tonsils are simply growing too large for their mouths, throats and age. He doesn't seem to be looking for a reason why this is happening...he's not doing any research or exploration at all. He offers NO ALTERNATIVES and wants to alter my 2 year old child's immune system forever because her tonsils are a little too large today. I can barely get my mind around performing surgery on a 2 year old child. The Western bent towards ripping out vital glands/tissues and throwing them away strikes me as insanity...this just cannot be the answer.

Please help me.
