The ABC Homeopathy Forum

mood swings etc 12 year old girl

please adivise me of what I need to give my daughter.

She is 12 years old and suffering mood swings associated with the onset of puberty.

Generally she is mind mannered and gentle, very sensitive to other peoples feelings.

She can change very quickly and become a monster.
She verablly abuses and strikes out, and then cries because she can't control herself.

She was prescribed Sepia by out homeopath which had no effect.

She likes the warmer weather and feels the cold.
She prefers her drinks to be warn rather than cold.

She does not like a lot of meat and will eat a very small portion but will eat all of the veges.

I realise this is a normal part of growing up but if we can make it easier for her then we will all benefit.

She is also a very stong willed and stubborn child, but does like a joke and laughs freely.

I appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please look at Pulsatilla rather then sepia. Give her Puls-200 one dose of 5 drops after every four days (total three doses) and report after 2 weeks.

Dr Mahfooz,

Thank you for your reply.
I have Pulsatilla pillules, so what dosage should I give her.

Appreciate your reply.

From mahfooz's reply it seems 5 drops or 5 pillules constitute a dose. so give her 5 pillules for one dose, and one dose every 4 days upto three doses ONLY. You will report after 2 weeks.

yes Dr. Maheeru has explained you correct.

Okay, so I gave her the 3 doses 4 days apart.
Initially she was a different child and she herself commented on how much calmer she was feeling.
this was good until a few days ago, she has come to me and asked if she may have another dose as she is finding it difficult to control her emotions again.
What should I do. The initial dose worked wonders but it seems to have worn off.
Thank you for your help.

Did you give pillules or drops? Dr Mahfooz's prescription was to use drops not pillules, as pillules stop working faster than drops.

It appears that the remedy could be working. Do you have the remedy in liquid form? Do you have any small bottles in which you could dissolve the pillules to make a wet dose?

It may be that she needs more doses, or she may need higher doses of the same remedy. This is not an unsual situation.

Thanks for your fast response.
I do not have the remedy in liquid, only pillules.

How would i make the wet dose. I can get something to make it up into.

do you suggest keeping the potency at 200, or maybe going for something higher.

I appreciate your input.

At this stage there is no reason to go to a higher potency. You would do that if 200 stops working of course.

Do you have any kind of very small bottle around? One with a dropper would be great of course, but anything with a lid would be ok too.

Dissolve 1 pillule into a small amount of water in the bottle - preferable with a small amount of alcohol as well (brandy, vodka or something, ration 5:1 water to alcohol). Before repeating the remedy, hit the bottle firmly against the palm of the hand twice (firmly means with a big 'bang!'). Then place one drop on her tongue.

Let us know what happens from that one dose.

I will make it up now and let you know what reaction we get. Should i wait for 10 or so days to comment further?

Thank you again.

gsjct last decade
There should be a noticeable reaction within 2 days, report back by then.

with children, I usually see a reaction within a few hours, but just to be safe 2 days is fine.

I gave her a dose of one drop, and within a couple of hours she had the biggest emotional outburst she has ever had. She calmed down within about half an hour and has been fine since.

Is this a normal reaction to the remedy or something else.

Thanks for your response.

gsjct last decade
That is completely normal. The aggravation is part of the homoeopathic cure - a temporary worsening of the symptoms you give the remedy for. It is a good sign when followed by improvement, escpecially if it is short and sharp.

Thank you.

So for now we play the waiting game.

Brisbanehomeopath,

The remedy had a dramatic effect to begin with and now I have her asking for yet another dose.
It seems to be effective initially and then wears off, so although it is great it is not long-lasting.
What do you suggest I do.

In her words 'It was really good to start with and now it has stopped working'

Thank you, I await your relpy.

Many people need multiple doses of their remedy. There is no problem with repeating, but it must be done this way.

Hit the bottle firmly twice again. Place 1 drop in 1/2 cup of water *125ml* and stir thorougly. Then give her 1 teaspoon only from the cup.

Thank you for that. I will do that once she gets home from school and let you know of the outcome.

Your help is truly appreciated and I hope you were not too affected with the recent floods.

While I did have to evacuate, fortunately i was not too badly affected by the flooding. Many were not so fortunate though.
