urgent attention : any dr pls rply
My father 57yr old is having right lung pleural effusion and is suffering from chronic cough from past one month.No antibiotics, anti-allergics, cough syrups are working.
He is not even able to talk because of cough as cough aggravates during talking. He is also having shortness of breath after coughing and sometimes chest pain.

Please give him Ars.Alb-30 (5 drops thrice a day) with Alternate dose Phosphorus-30 (thrice a day) report after one week.

Dr mahfooz please explain 'alternate dose'. Does it means that on one day ArsAlb is to be given and next day Phos??
Also I have ArsAlb200c and Phos200c with me, so can I use them or only 30c?

Alternate mean 1st dose Ars.Alb-30 then next time like after two hours give Phosphorus-30 total 6 dose daily.

I gave him alternate doses of ars alb 30c and phos 30c as you advised.
He felt better after taking first dose of ars alb. Then after 2 hours on giving phos, the cough aggravated again. Again after 2 hours I have him ars alb and he felt no releif in cough and he refused to take any more doses because he felt that the remedies are suppressing the mucus excretion and aggravating the cough. He also said that he also started feeling weakness after taking the second dose.
He is very negative on taking homeo remedies as he feels that they are useless.
He is not having any shortness of breath now and also no chest pain(they ended before taking remedies).
I searched a lot on homeopathic remedies used for cough but I could not find any one matching to his symptoms.
Here are some more details of his symptoms:
- persistent cough since one month
- cough comes suddenly and frequently in a period of 3-4 continuous coughs
- cough aggravates after afternoon and worse at evening and night, cough attacks also come at night during sleep
- mucus is excreted but with difficulty
- cough always occurs during talking
- feels extreme weakness
- very low appetite
Please advice an appropriate and fast acting remedy that can show result in few dose so that he will continue to take it.

He is also feeling some sort of acid reflux that aggravates cough.
Please specify the correct dose that can be taken or some other better remedy that can be used for getting quick relief.

If a particular homoeo remedy can touch the vital force of a suffering person in any acute or chronic diseases and triggers the bodys natural system of healing; it will show some action on the patients body or mind. May be he can feel improvement or aggravation of his symptoms.
In this case of your father you saw some improvement after taking first dose of Ars. Alb. 30c. This is a clear indication that it can touch the vital force of your father and can able to trigger his bodys natural defense system. However it does not indicate that its the right remedy for him. We need lots more information about his physical and mental condition in order to select a perfect remedy for him.
But his symptoms aggravate again after taking Phos and Ars. Alb. again.
The remedies are suppressing the mucus excretion and aggravating the cough. He also said that he also started feeling weakness after taking the second dose.
This is an aggravation created by the remedy which will subside if you keep patience for few days and dont give him any more remedy in these days. If you give him more remedy it will create more aggravation.

Example- time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing, movement, climate, music, consolation, thunderstorm, exam or other important events, smell, noise, light etc. Are his symptoms worse on any particular side of the body?
5. Is he Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy, etc. in these days?
6. How are his bowel movement and stool type?

2. Medical History- Diagnosed with adenocarcinoma sigmoid colon in 2007 and was operated for the same successfully. Then he underwent preventive chemotherapy. After that he was diagnosed with liver metastases in 2009. Attempt was made for the surgical removal of the tumor but was not successful. Then he underwent non-surgical procedures - TACE, chemotherapy which were of little help. Recently in October 2010 he underwent another non-surgical procedure - Y-90 therasphere radioembolization.
Present medication - none
Previous medication - ars alb 30 two doses, phos 30 one dose.

I too agree wtih dr.Rahiq no medication or repitation is at once required. Since patient is allergic from homoeo medicine and have been operated twice/thrice the reaction of allopathic medicines is also there.Please wait for 7 daysandtry to understand the pholosphy of homoeopathy as stated earlier by dr. rahiq. Note the changes and come up with the latest postion of the patient.

More than 7 days infact about 2 weeks have gone after giving the first day dose.
No relief and no new symptoms.
However stating the symptoms again- chronic cough,comes in attacks, worse in evening and night, even during sleep cough awakes, expectoration frequent especially at night and evening, excreted as if vomiting with great difficulty.
Now what can be done?
