3 1/2 year old girl with bad Tinea Capitas

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been suffering from Tinea Capitas (ringworm) for almost a year now. We are desperate for advice. As you can see from the picture she has hair loss on the crown of her head. There is scaling and flaking of the skin. We noticed the first symptoms soon after she went on a pony ride so we were thinking she may have contracted it from the pony. The 'doctors' initially gave her griseofulvin but this did nothing. She was on this medicine for several months. The 'doctors' then wanted to test her liver to see if she would be able to take a more potent medicine of which I do not remember the name. A couple months ago we did take her to a Homeopath and she was told to take 1 dose of Tuberculinum in 1M dose. It has been two months since that dose. The ringworm actually seems to be getting a bit worse and spreading. She was told to take another 1M dose of Tuberculinum last night which she did. We have also been treating the area with Apple Cider Vinegar.

Other than this she is a very healthy girl. When she was born she did get some fluid in her lungs so she was in the hospital for a few days. She goes to daycare so she is exposed to colds daily. She is rarely sick compared to her classmates. She sleeps very well. She is full of energy. She eats very well. She drinks water often. She has normal bowel movements.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You might want to look at Cina, a very good remedy for that condition.

You should not treat the area with Apple Cider Vinegar or anything else, as that is suppressive, and will damage the situation, making it more difficult to cure.

Thank you. How much of this remedy do you recommend she take?

Hello mark1972.

If you have just given her Tuberculinum, you should not give her anything else. Wait and see what happens first.
Tuberculinum has fine white scales, it is the same as your daughter?

Cina is a good medicine for worms in the stomach, but not for ringworm? Ringworm is a fungal infection.

You should let your homeopath handle this, do not change medication now, it's not a good idea.

I do not think apple vinegar is right for this disorder. What has been used for ringworm, external, is cod liver oil. You can put on at night.
Apple vinegar is better suited for athlete's foot, when you take a sock or two and dip them in vinegar, then hang them to dry and use them at night while you sleep.

But please, do not replace medicine now.

Just want to add, if it's humid, offensive eruption on top of head, filled with pus, drying up into honeylike scabs, it may indicate that there is another remedy in the picture.

How much Tuberculinum should she be taking?

Thank you again.

Just want to let you all know that the Tuberculinum has worked on our daughter. She had a severe case of ringworm of the scalp. The scales are gone and the hair is regrowing. Thanks all for the assistance.

Hello, I was wondering, after the second dose of tuberculinum how long did it take to clear up. I have a 4 year old with the same problem, and she has had it for 4 months now. Thanks so much!

Hello, I had asked Mark about how long it took for his daughter to clear up. I also posted about my daughter under tinea capitas. If you could read that that would be great! Thanks

It did take about 4 months to fully clear and have the hair regrow. It did seem to get a bit worse after the first dose. I guess this was the body pushing the ringworm out. A few weeks after the second dose we did notice clearing.

Thank you so much. It is really a tough thing to deal with. At least I will know what to expect with the treatments, as far as getting worse before it clears up, and the time it takes to clear up. Thanks again, and enjoy your week!

Mark,

So Tuberculinum in 1M cured the case?

Yes. She ended up taking I believe 3 or 4 doses and that did cure her problem.
