I received for recommendations for treatment for Alopecia.1. Alumina 30c
2. Lycopodium 30c
3. Sepia 30c
4. Thallium 6c
Which treatment(s) would you recommend for most effective?

Only the remedy that suits the individual symptoms will cure the complaint. You cannot take a remedy on the basis of the name of your condition with much hope of success.
I have treated many cases of alopecia in the past. The remedy that cured was always the one that suited the whole case.
I have used remedies like Tub-bov, Hura, Bar-c, Sulphur, Nepenthes, Sepia - those are the ones that I remember off the top of my head.
It is very important to realise that homoeopathy is NOTHING like orthodox medicine. Our approach is completely the opposite, we individualise each case with great detail and precision. Trying to use our medicines like over the counter drugstore medicines is hopeless and will only disappoint and cause you to lose any faith in homoeoapthy.

I am a little confused hot homoepathy really works.
The alopecia is a result of thyroid problems.
Based on online and various books recommendations, sepia 30c has been used to help but I am unsure how to take it.

Sepia will only work if it suits the whole case. I would not feel comfortable suggesting a course of that remedy for a chronic problem, without knowing the whole history.
The question in homoeopathy is not 'Do you have Alopecia?', but 'What kind of Alopecia do you have?'. If you have Sepia Alopecia there will be a number of indications for the remedy found by looking over your total health picture (mind/body).
When choosing a medicine to treat a condition, a homoeopath will look over many different aspects of the person's health - their appetite for different foods, their moods and fears, their sensitivity to the environment and the weather, their sleep patterns and dreams, their mental functions, other symptoms in their body not directly connected to main problem.
