The ABC Homeopathy Forum

3 different problems (7 month old and 5yr old)

I have two children and I'm looking to start homeopathics with both.

-My 7 month old has pretty bad reflux and has had it since birth. She has been taking Zantac since 2 wks but has still spit up 20+ times a day, so I stopped giving it to her. What can I start to help this problem?

-Again, my 7 month old is having a tough time with teething. What's a good dose for chamomilla? She also wakes frequently at night, not because she's hungry but wakes up screaming. Once I give her the pacifier she goes back to sleep, but this can sometimes go on every 15 minutes for hours.

-My 5 1/2 year old has pretty severe ADHD. He takes Concerta 36mg and does okay with it, but it brings out irritability and he is also very argumentative. He also has trouble sleeping at night. Lastly, he does not eat well at all-more times than not, his lunch and snack come home from school untouched. We fight with him to eat everyday and it's so stressful.

Any help would be appreciated-I'd like to order ASAP, thank you.

Sorry Veggie there are a lot of cases going on here. I don't know about the other advisors on the forum, but I am running a face-to-face clinic of my own and the patients there can take up quite a lot of time too.

Do you understand how a homoeopathic case is taken and what information is necessary to make a prescription? You might want to follow these links to get a better idea.

Yes, I do understand it. And I see how much help everyone else gets, and I see that my question goes completely ignored.

The reason I gave those links was to prompt you into giving more information. Successful homoeopathic prescriptions require a lot of details about the patients, their suffering, their peculiarities, their individual characteristics.

The best symptoms for prescribing are those which are peculiar or invidiual. A peculiar symptom is something you don't normally see with the complaint. An individualizing symptom is something which helps distinguish one person from another with the same complaint.

Individualizing symptoms may be things that aggravate or improve the symptom, the specific pains and sensations, symptoms that tend to cluster together or follow each other closely in sequence.

Homoeopathy is also a true holistic medicine, so the whole person is taken into account even when prescribing for one part. We often need to understand the state of health in other parts of the body. We need to understand the problems that occur in the thoughts, in the emotions, in the sleep, the appetite, in the level of energy, in dreams.

Some of these areas may be inaccessible in very small children or infants. In such cases the detailed observations of the parents are vital. For the most part I find parents are very good at this.

Giving the name of a condition (ie. reflux) does not aid in the prescription of a homoeopathic medicine, as there are hundreds of possible remedies. There are also a large number of remedies for teething. The specifics help to make a choice.

For each and every symptom or problem your children has, we would need a complete description.
- when does it happen?
- what makes it worse?
- what makes it better?
- when did it start? what was happening at this time?
- what is it like? give a detailed observation
- what happens at the same time as the symptom?

For children it is also useful to discuss the birth and the pregnancy. For pregnancy a description of all symptoms and changes in your health and mental state is useful.

All of this gives a starting point for taking a case.
