extreme sensitivity to high frequency noise

I have been plagued with this as long as I can remember. I can hear store alarm systems and they give me a headache. I can't go into electronic centers or video stores(such as blockbuster) because the tvs put out such a high pitched noise that I will get sick to my stomach and have a headache within minutes. I am also very susceptible to motion sickness and the feeling is similar. Please help? I don't know if a change in diet could be beneficial. I eat very healthy and organic. THANK YOU FOR READING!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
This is a very interesting symptom. Can you expand more on it?

What is the sensation of hearing the high pitched noise?

Describe the exact feeling of the headache that comes on? What makes the headache worse (not triggers it)? What makes it better?

Describe 'sick to the stomach' - sensation, what makes it worse, what makes it better etc.

Describe motion sickness - when it happens, what it feels like, what makes it worse, what makes it better?

Any other health complaints at all, even if not related to this one.

It is hard to explain the sensation. I think the best comparison is like going to the dentist and having him turn on that drill tool that makes that horrible high pitched noise and the noise seems to go past your ears in get inside your head. Another example would be like the sensory overload of trying to look at the sun. I don't know if that helps at all. I can hear the sound but it seems like it goes through my ears and vibrates in my head.
The headaches kinda feel like a sinus headache. A very stuffy, hazy feeling and it seems to start near my ears. That feeling alone makes me feel queasy, but as soon as I am out of the stimulus area, all the symptoms go away immediately.
The motion sickness happens when I am a passenger in a vehicle. The motion of a curvy road or trying to read anything while in the car will give me that same stuffy feeling, only these headaches sometimes turn into tension headaches if I am in the car for too long.
I am healthy, I have always had some intestinal issues throughout my life(I'm 30). Problems with constipation that I monitor and make sure I am eating properly, drinking enough fluids, and taking vitamins. Thanks

I have a couple of ideas.

Can you describe more on 'stuffy' 'hazy' - give me a detailed description of the sensation.

Describe the exact sensation/pain of the tension headaches and any symptoms that come with it.

Describe 'sensory overload'.

Describe a 'vibration in the head'.

Describe the constipation - what exactly happens, what makes it worse, what makes it better, when does it happen?

Describe the experience of a 'curvy road'.

My husband told me that I should explain that I actually hear these noises, they are sounds that most people can't hear. My husband can't hear them and I've never found anyone else that can. I will get back to you to answer your other questions this evening. Thanks.

It is a very interesting symptom. And I believe you! I certainly wasn't looking at it as some sort of delusion :)

Is your hearing sensitive in any other way - can you hear people talking from far away or whispering, or can you hear other distant or quiet sounds?

Sorry for not writing back, I appreciate your help.
'can you describe stuffy, hazy': The feeling of stuffy, hazy feels like a loss of sensory acuteness. I have more trouble concentrating on other noises, people talking, it seems to slow my thought processes. (I know in the movie stores I somewhat lose the ability to chose a movie!)
This above description would also describe sensory overload.
'describe vibration in the head': This is really the feeling of the sound when I hear it. It seems to go right through my ear canals into my head.
I seem to have a handle on the constipation as long as I stay away from alcohol, too much dairy, or too much caffeine. The alcohol and caffeine have the opposite effect in the beginning but seem to screw up my whole system for a few days.
Describe the curvy road: When passenging in a car on a curvy road it is hard to anticipate exactly where the driver will start and end all turns. When this happens I feel exaggerated symptoms like when riding a roller-coaster. It seems like my stomach and head take a minute longer than everything else to make around the corner. Just a dizzying, spacey feeling. Thanks!

I also have been bothered by tube TV's and store alarms all my life and get headaches sometimes with the higher frequency sounds and prolonged exposure, like trying to watch tv on a tube tv. I dont seem to have much problem with motion sickness, but i have very bad tinnitus, which sounds the same as the high pitched noises from TV's. I also can sometimes hear bats, and dolphins. I was reading up and it seems that tube TV's put out a frequency of about 15.7 kHz which is close to the upper range of human hearing. And although bats and dolphins usually communicate in the 100 kHz range they do occasionally drop as low at 16-18 kHz. Many people cant even hear over 14-15 kHz, usually only some young children can hear up to 20, which is why people like my husband think that I am crazy when i tell them that the tube TV or the alarm at the jewelry store is really bothering me. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with my hearing, I dont hear low sounds as well, but I hear higher sounds better than the average human. Luckily the research suggests that high frequency hearing should start to deteriorate as you get older.

There is nothing crazy about what you feel.
I sometimes feel that tinnitus in my ear is due to inflammation and hence lowering of the size of canal or may I say the volume or something like that.
Then the resonance will be at higher frequency. But that is about mine.

In your case the mechanical structure of ears, some special capacity/capability in your ear bones (higher dynamic range) and other reasons may lead to hearing of sounds that others cannot hear. This is more of high transmission and high sensing of higher frequencies that simply the increase in resonant frequency due to cold/inflammation.

Of course homeopaths here can help you out very well I guess.
I won't disturb by too many long posts.

I appreciate all replies, thanks. I made an interesting correlation yesterday with my daughter. She is very sensory sensitive when it comes to putting on her clothes and she also says that she can hear the noises that I can. I think that maybe my brain and her brain are just lacking the filters that most peoples brain use to just filter away these noise and irritations.

I do think that my hearing is just better that most. I can hear things from far away and hear things that other people just don't pick up on. So yes, I think that I might have a better ability to hear high ranges of sound than most people. I guess I should just suck it up and cover my ears when it gets to be too much. Thank invention for tvs that don't use tube anymore.
