Terrible cough and runny/congestion in young son
My son began coughing about 2days ago and still is and now also has a cong. and runny nose. His cough and nose sounds thick. He can not laugh or talk really without coughing. It sounds like it may have settled in his chest. He has not been able to master the art of "coughing it up" jest yet so I do not know what color it is. But his spirits are still up and he is playful.No fever. I was wondering if Antimonium Tararicum might benefit him? Or maybe any suggestions. Oh, when he runs or tries to talk or excerts himself he will cough and try for air. Thanks! Tallytallyrai on 2005-04-24

Well his age would be of help. You need to write about twice as much. We treat the whole child, not just a cough.
The weather...is it a factor? Any allergies this spring?

Better from/worse from? I understand the speaking and body activity. Likes/dislikes.

Reply asap, I will look in awhile. Anti Tart has little mucus and much cough. Your child has more mucus. Is it stringy and hard to get rid of. Does it seem like a cold?

Slight wheezing but I hear it in his throat
No not from bloomig,brother brought in a viral bug
No new marks,or swelling
No irritability at all!Very happy
He LOVES to sing! Likes to discuss things
Will say things and then after everything said will say "right mom"
Loves to learn things(getting ready for Kindergarten)
Like to dance to music
Drawing,writting and helping me in the garden
Does not like to be laughed at
To be alone,very attached to his brother and I. Will not even take a bath alone
Does not like ice in his drink
Very easy going child.

Not doing anything makes it a little better

Do not know what color or texture,he has not mastered the "cough it up thing" as of yet so it just sits in there!

Oh no! Son just woke up screamming that is right ear is hurting. I am sure it is from drainage from above problem. It is worse from blowing his nose. He is now consitantly crying from pain. What would I give him? I am almost ready to take him to the ER for fear of infection!?

OK, FERRUM PHOS,either 200X or low C. 200X is near 6 or 12C. Give every hour for 4 doses then 3 times a day for two days OR until better, OR symptoms change.
If he developes a fever, go to BELLADONNA with same instructions.
Smiling children call for either the above remedies, but Belladonna is sicker. Not playing. Ferrum Phos continues to play.
Please do not go to ER and fill him with antibiotics as he will just get it again in a month. This is the same "bug" as you say, being traded and reoccuring in the children. Homeopathy will strengthen them to stop catching everything.
Don't panic, children do not die of this, it is always around until the immune system is built stronger with H. Antibiotics break down the immune system.

Gave son eardrops and remedy as sugg.
30mins later he got up and stared to play again. He did not want to go to sleep! Was laughing and playing around in bed. He said that his ear felt better.
Very conjested still. He finally blew his nose and it was very thick and gooey.

Can not breath through his nose.
Cough was getting better until the earpain. But not sure if that is because he just got up form laying down for a while or from the excitement from the pain.

Not sure why the choice of ear drops. The most commonly used is MULLIN, or Verbascum. I never used ear drops for my three sons raised on Homeopathy. Found out about mullin later.

I went with Belladonna for the ear, and later Cham. for his irritability.
He is doing very well this morning. No pain at all. Still conjested nose. The cough is def. from nasal drainage.

Hah, I had a seriously (nearly dead) son with asthma attacks. When I found that Arsenicum Alb. (arsnic) was his remedy, can you imagine the "looks" I got from those that didn't know anything about homeopathy?
He was only one year old and I had to give him cpr because he quit breathing when he fell asleep. Ars Alb worked in 10 min and he did get healed of it. Took several years. But, he was a happy little toddler.
You can do it! Get tough and knowledgable, but only for yourself, don't waste your time arguing with anyone that is dense. Interest is ok.

Thank you for the support. I have learned a lot in the last year. And plan to keep on learning. My husband is comming around. Any way son is almost all well now. But now the virus is going through the family. Another son has slight fever. Hopefully this all will pass soon. Thank you
