Carob Powder

Since I have been taking homeopathic rememdies, I have avoided the known antidotes: chocolate, tea (anything with caffeine), mint, etc.

What about carob powder? Can I use that in place of hot chocolate? It's unexpectedly cold and snowy here, and I thought it might be a nice treat to have something approximating hot chocolate. :)

Thanks for any advice.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You may have. I have never thought that many things are as problematic to homeopathy as others. Over 30 years I have tested all by giving remedies.

Camphor/menthol/vicks/pepermint seems to be the most suspect.

Remember to use homeopathy "between" eating and coffee, etc. I suggest no coffee/cafeine be taken at all as it rids the body of water faster than you can replace. A slightly dehydrated body will not be a happy body. Some sickness is not sickness, but dehydration.

Thank you very much, Sabra. By the way, my ND recommended barley drinks (Caffix, etc.) as a substitute for coffee, but I was never a coffee drinker to begin with.

As a general rule, I have been told to take homeopathic remedies at least five minutes away from food or taste. Also, I have totally avoided caffeine as a precaution, and I try to not to brush my teeth within 30 minutes of taking a remedy. I'm not sure if that's going overboard or not.

In any event, I appreciate your response!!

Give it half an hour both before and after eating/ drinking, at least,

I have substituted carob powder for chocolate in a cake and brownie recipe. The cake was good, the brownie a bit too strong.

I find that my body accepts carob much better than chocolate.

Cocoa is more like spice, carob is actually wood :) Carob does not contain any stimulants (caffeine) and contains fiber (cocoa doesn't), which is good for digestion.Maybe that's why your body likes carob more than cocoa, Momma :)
