Child with persistant dry cough

I have a child of 6 years that I am most concerned for:
She has been diagnosed with tonsillitis and given two courses of antibiotics with no success, it just appears to be getting worse. She has not yet completed her second bottle of amoxycillan.
I will try to give as much detail as possible if yiu wouldn't mind trying to help us:

1.Each symptom in as much detail as possible. For example, for a headache, describe the type of pain (ie sharp, dull, stabbing, pulsating etc etc)
Sore throat, sore left ear, swollen palatine tonsils - left worse than right but both were large a week ago
Cough began well over a month ago gradually increasing to a real bark -no wheezing or 'whooping' but can leave her out of breath. Tired, irritable, always crying and complaining though not of the pain

2.What first started it off (ie walking in a cold wind)
I believe maybe the end of the school year (it began before school finished)she was tired, exhausted really. Changes in weather from hot to cold to really hot to cool to hot.
3.When it's worse (ie on seeing bright lights, on stepping, before period, etc)
Worse at night and in morning with cooler air but still present through the day

4.When it feels better (ie lying down in a dark room, when warm, when cold)
No real relief - have tried a honey lemon tea with garlic and ginger which has soothed the throat, she continues to ask for it.

5.Your sleep pattern and details of any recurring dreams.
Seems to be sleeping heavily, occasionally having dreams of monsters. Bedwetting

6.What you are sensitive to (ie, heat, cold, touch, criticism, etc)
Sensitive to discipline (verbal) or things not being the way she feels they should be (people being 'unfair')

7.Your state of mind (fears, anxieties, attitudes, moods, etc)
Fears conflict, monsters (has seen some conflict in our home of late with brother leaving home with mental disorder (schizotypal) and choosing to live with his Grandmother - hasn't retained much contact with other children but is receptive to their calls/attempts. Mother being treated for depression, Father may also have depression but not being treated.

8.Any desires or aversions for particular foods, and wether certain foods make you feel better or worse.
Craves sugary foods, aversion to her dinner (meat and veges most nights)

9.Details of any major diseases suffered in past.
None

10.Detals of any reactions to other medicines taken.
None to date

11.History of homeopathic treatment if any.
None to date except something we bought from Chemist for teething pain - began with C

All other symptoms you have (ie watering eyes, cold feet, thirst).
None that I can think of now

Please describe 'before period'?

Thankyou for your reply nawazkhan.

I was using the questions posed in the example of a headache, the 'before period' part was part of that example, my 6 Year old does not currently menstruate. She is due to finish her antibiotics soon, which is why I am looking for alternantive answers -we take antibiotics very seriously in this household and I am concerned that she has had to have two courses with little effect (the left tonsil has reduced in size)but otherwise her symptoms remain the same.
These children (I have others with the same cough) have had a very 'clean' diet up until the elder brother left home (he was gluten and lactose intolerant). In the interest of saving money we began to make bread rather than buy tortillas for lunch and this has been OK up until a month ago when we changed flour to a commercial type rather than a baker's flour. I am taking the bread from their diet as of this morning to see if that has some effect.

Hi Mamaofmany,

May God bless you?

Please use the following remedy for dry cough.

Inula Helenium 30C, 4 pellets, 2 times a day, for 3 days.

Also, please use the following remedy for watering eyes etc.

Euphrasia Officinalis 200C, 4 pellets, every 3rd day, for 1 week.

Many prayers for you and your children's good health.

Regards
Nawaz

Thankyou Nawazkhan,

Today the cough has been lessened without the bread and it has only been 12 hours! I will follow your suggestions once she finishes her antibiotics as I am not sure about mixing the two. I will keep you informed.
Today we went to the dentist and discovered a small abcess in one of her teeth on the left side.

You are Welcome!

It is a good idea to let the existing treatment finish that must cover the small abcess problem too.
