8 month old with continuous ear infection - on 3rd round of antibiotic

Hi!

This is regarding my 8 month old son's continuous bout of ear infection. He goes to daycare and has been having a cold, cough and runny nose quite often since the onset of winter in November.

Jan 1: Ear pulling on his left ear, no fever, crying and waking up often in the night. Got him checked out and he did have an ear infection in his left ear.
Jan 1- Jan 7 : On Amoxicillin.
Jan 8 : He did not seem better so got him checked out again on Saturday. Left ear still infected and right ear also infected.
Jan 8 - Jan 16 : 10 days on Omnicef.
Jan 17-18 : Continuous ear tugging so went to get him checked out on Jan 19. The doctor okayed both ears. (I do feel she was in a hurry and my son was extremely squirmy too so she probably missed it or maybe his infection did clear up- I will never know)
Jan 22-23 - ear tugging, temperature of 100 rectally which later came down to normal but cranky.
Jan 24 - Noticed some indication of yellow wetness in right ear. Very cranky and fussy at night. Crying, waking up often.
Jan 25 - Got him checked out again and his right ear again infected. Doctor said that the left ear wasnt infected but doesnt look good either.
Jan 25 - On Azithromycin for 5 days.

Throughout this time, he also had a cough and runny nose(green thick mucus). His chest and lungs were all clear as per the doctor. His cough was attributed to clearing of throat passage due to nasal drainage.

I will continue with the current dosage of antibiotic and get him checked out after 2 weeks as per the doctor.

I am worried that his immune system is going to be impacted negatively because of this continuous ear infection and am also afraid of any impact on hearing loss. What should I do? What will help him with this cough which hasnt till date gone away completely?

Please please advise something.

Thanks,
A worried Mom!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Just to add, he is a happy active child except at night when he is very cranky and unable to sleep properly because his ears must be hurting! He's started on solids (cereal once a day, 1 veggie, 1 fruit) and has primarily been fed breastmilk with occasional formula feedings.

Please let me know if you need any other information on his symptoms.

Thanks,
Nidhi

Please give him Pulsatilla 200 in the morning and evening for 3 days and see how that affects in the next few days.
If there is no noticeable improvement after few days please give him Silicea 200 in the same way.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 1 drop in some 10 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please don't eat or drink anything within 15 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Pulsatilla is also known as Pulsatilla Nigricans.
