It does not antidote most remedies, it does have something of a reputation for reversing the bad effects of some drugs, or repairing an overdrugged system. This means crude drugs more than potentized ones, but a case might be made for even overuse of homoeopathic remedies(I have never seen a case presented where Nux-vom was used this way though).
You should never use a remedy for any other reason that it has similarity to the case - Nux-vom will only be helpful if the case needs it. Every person in the world does not need Nux-vomica, nor does every disease. Only those diseases that have the characteristics of the remedy will get any benefit.
