To Joe: Hairloss
Dear Dr. Joe,Apprciate your help in my hairloss case. Looking forward for an effective remedy. My information is as follows:
I'm a 34 old man. Weight: 99 kgs. Height:184 cm. I started loosing hair slowly since 5 years. My hair began thinning with a receding hair line since 3 years. Since 2 years hair loss became faster and the front scalp (especially the left side) became visible. 2 months back I got eczema which made the situation worse: So itchy scalp, small bumps, developed bald patches, flaky scalp ...etc. Hairloss became worse and had developed bald patches. The dermatologist prescribed Betnovade which turned out to be cortisone, didnt help. Large flakes were coming out with hair sticking to it in groups. Therefore, leaving a bigger bald spot.
I tried olive oil, coconut oil, had multivitamins, minoxidil 5% for 2 years.. nothing helped. I've got small baby hairs but they're not growing.
Hairloss is nonstop, especially when showering (loose like 70-100 hairs) and when combing daily (around 40 hairs especially in the morning). Every time I run my hand through my hair I can see individual hairs sticking to my fingers or falling on the floor.
During the shower, if I shower my head without touching it, around 5-6 hairs fall only. The minute I lather a herbal shampoo on it (or Johnson Shampoo)and wash it: I start loosing hair individual hairs but plenty, around 80 hairs.
A friend recommended Silicea 12x and Kalium sulfuricum 6x (2 tablets each per day The Kalium first thing in the morning and Silicea before going to sleep no meals 1 hr before and after taking both medicines) - been on it since 9 days without any change. I started having 2 tbsp flaxseed , eggs, yoghurt etc not helping though
Thirst, appetite, sleep & dreams:
Experienced a lower appetite recently since a year around the time I was diagnosed with gallstones. I skip meals due to my nature of work, no lunch breaks but eat normally in some days and weekends. I have milk and coffee throughout the day (sometimes sandwiches) and lunch on 4pm, light dinner at 9. I eat a balanced diet, salad, chicken, fish, fresh fruit juices
I sleep around 6 hrs a day. No specific irritating dream.
I dont experience excessive sweat. Stool is normal-to-hard, but go to the washroom once every 2-3 days.
Emotions: Last year I was a bit aggressive in my mood/emotions, but now Im ok. Also, every time I look at the mirror and see my scalp becoming balder by time, I feel down, depressed and frustrated. Dont like people looking at my crown.
Family History:
My uncles are bald. Father and brothers arent. I used to have thick hair five years back.
Treatmental history:
Tried minoxidil 5% for 3 years. It helped for sometime and then the hair falls I stopped it since a week.
Tried saw palmetto for 2 years, again helped for sometime but not anymore stopped it since a month. I noticed sexual libido decreased a bit around 2 months back.
Multivitamin, Vitamin E, D and C not helping too.
Past history of illnesses.
Diagnosed with enlarged prostate a year back. Still the same I guess but now feel better as urine dribbling (after urinating) is less
I had gallstones 2 years ago (used to experience hair loss before that time anyways) and had lost weight from 107 to 96, now back to 99 kgs. No pain experienced since a year (but I still have 3 stones 7-10 mm)
Many Thanks
