Aggravation or Adverse Reaction? 6

The ABC Homeopathy Forum

aggravation or reaction?

Hello. This is my first attempt at gaining professional advice online.
My son suffers from recurring tummy aches and minor symptoms, which are beginning to distress him. We had a consultation with a homeopath, the only one for miles around, who prescribed a number of remedies in combination, some high potency, some low.
After 48 hours of taking the remedies as prescribed my son developed a severe migraine headache, that knocked him out for the best part of 2 days. I called the homeopath, who seemed confused by the reaction, and who advised us to stop the remedies for a couple of days, and restart at a lower dose. We followed his advice, and in fact I only gave the low dose remedies. Once again, after 48 hours he developed a migraine, culminating in a nosebleed and a small dose of diarrhoea.
Before these occurrences my son had never experienced migraines, although his father (absent) does suffer from them from time to time.
I can't say that I have noticed improvement in his general health, as he still suffers tummy aches.
Late last year our orthodox doctor took basic blood tests that showed that his eosinophil count is higher than is normally expected. Another doctor suggested he may have glandular fever!
I know that it is always best to see a professional homeopath, but like I say, our choice is very limited, and so I hope for some good advice here.

Thank you

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I noticed that the classical homeopaths have not advised you on your son's ailment.

Your thread will soon be on the next page out of sight of those who read it today and I hope that
David Kempson aka Brisbanehomeopath will take your case as he is well able to help him.

I shall be interested to see if he will take your case.

Why are you committing me to being practitioner on this case Joe? Very suspect considering our ongoing disagreements on this board.

Amulet your homoeopath was not practicing according to our guidelines, and has encountered a problem common to those who break the cardinal rule of 'Single remedy'. When many remedies are given, there is no way to know what medicine is doing what - which is causing side effects, which is harming him, which might be helping. It is unfortunate that the only one near you, is not practicing proper homoeopathy.

You may want to follow these links to learn a little more about how homoeopathy is best practiced.

Despite Joe's motivations for offering me up as the homoeopathic advisor on this case, I am indeed willing to offer help. What follows is an intake form I typically use to begin the consultation process. After you have answered the questions I may have several more to ask you.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION

It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.

1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?

Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE.

As well as this, please describe any traumatic incidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.

Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.

Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior.

Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow.

Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.

If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:

1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like

Children's Questions:

1. What occured to the mother during pregnancy - new symptoms, illnesses, medical treatments, emotional stresses.

2. What problems occured during the birth?

3. What was happening in the mother's life around the time of conception?

4. What illnesses did both parents have for the 5 years or so preceding conception?

5. Describe the following features of the child

a) Body type and build
b) Skin colour and texture
c) Areas of the body tends to perspire on
d) Odour of sweat, body, stool, flatus, urine
e) Colour of stool, urine, sweat

6. Give any reactions to vaccines or medical drugs.

I would like to answer your question frankly.

I suggested that this patient consults you as I felt that you could with your past experience help this boy.

I also wished to ascertain how quickly you will respond to my post, every one of which I know you shadow on the ABC.

In this case you did so in just under one hour. I often wonder how you can spare the time to do so as you are a professional homeopath with a good practice and I can only think that your patients may have deserted you and left you with loads of spare time which you use to attack me on every post I make to help suffering humanity.

I often wonder what form of vicarious satisfaction you derive from criticizing my therapy aka 'Joepathy' .

You will remember that I prescribed Lycopodium to you some time ago to overcome your allergy to my posts. Have you followed my advice ?

Hello 'Joe de Livera' and 'brisbanehomeopath'. Whilst I thank you for your interest in my post, I do feel like I may be caught up in a little crossfire here, which is pretty disappointing as I had considered that I was presenting a valid question, with a genuine appeal for help!

Brisbanedoctor, I am familiar with the classical practice of Homeopathy, I have had an old Boericke's Materia Medica on my kitchen shelf for many years! Whilst I have a basic knowledge of homeopathy I would be reluctant to use this knowledge on my child as I am not fully trained.
The homeopath we saw came highly recommended, but when he armed us with some 20 remedies in combination, I became a little curious, but willing to accept his ways. Evidently his correct title would be 'Homeopathic Pharmacist'. For sure, in retrospect I should have questioned him first before travelling the distance that we did.

So, I am now in the position of requesting a kind of online consultation. Brisbanehomeopath, you have given me a lot of work to do!

I see that the background information you request is often posted in the public forum, do you require that all of this information is posted on this thread?

Despite your public disagreements, I thank you again for your response and advice, and look forward to your reply/replies to this post.
