Labyrinthitis

Hello to all.I am in the process of dealing with this problem which i've had for seven weeks by going to a homeopath.I only went to him 3 days ago after my wife reminded me of the fact that when she had a skin infection for about a year,it was homeopathic medicine that cured her.She had a infection on her breast so she wasn't able to breast feed the twins and it turns out that the medicine the allopatic doctor gave her was making it worse.Anyway, anybody who suffers from labyrinthitis knows it is one of the worst ailments for the mind known to man,the dizziness and nausea can cause madness and bring a man down to tears.I believe this ailment is a direct result of a jaw infection which I was given antibiotics for.Immediately after that course I developed sciatica which I was given ibuprofen for a month.Ibuprofen can be bad for your stomach by the way. Then one morning I woke up so dizzy,I couldn't even stand up.I had the runs and the doctors said it was gastroenteritis. That led to viral labyrinthitis which I believe was a direct result from the course of medication given to me from the allopatic doctors. My point is this.....I personally wont go back to those medicines again,a lot of our problems come from those medicines. The doctor told me he cant to anything but give me stemitil so now I am drowzy and dizzy. The homeopathic doctor told me that the creation of all things in the world is for the benefit of mankind, you just have to know how to use them.
Sorry for the long post but I hope something in this can be of benefit to somebody.
I will post again next week to tell you all how I am getting on....bye.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Well heres a man who learned the HARD way .

I hope many people read this!!.

For the record it may be worth trying Natrum mur 10m one tablet on three sucessive nights.

I only say this because Prof Kent said that it is useful for neutralising bad prescriptions , and I have found that to be true in a number of cases.

Hi, I did a search for natrum mur and its strange that it came up with this....Natrum mur types are sensitive, responsible and refined. They tend to dwell on things, harbouring grievances and will cry in private. They dislike fuss and prefer to be independent with bouts of unpredictable behaviour. Persons needing this remedy are serious and inflexible. Easily wounded by criticism, they may become introverted and self-reliant.

What this is saying definatley relates to me but what I want to know is this remedy to be taken now or should I wait until this bout of labyrinthitis goes first,or should i mention it to my homeopathic doctor?

what is your homeopathic doctor giving you at the moment?

Hi Erica
The medicine he gave me was tiny pellets which he applied the chemicals to.I can only remember conium but there was four chemicals in total, and a powder I had to take in the 2 following mornings. He said I was anemic and I told him that I was trembling especially in my arms and hands and that I was constipated the whole weekend before. He has probably already given me this natrum mur.I will ask him tomorrow.

ps.Do you think that I should stop taking the stemetil?

jayjay last decade
Is stemetil an anti-emetic (anti-sickness)?? If so, then all it will do is try to stop you feeling sick and no more than that. When I had labyrinthitis/menieres conium was miraculous and stopped the room spinning within an hour! This was just one conium 30c....the anti-sickness drugs just made me worse!!!
Maybe he has already given you natrum mur - if not then it is definitely worth asking him about. Are you any better since taking his remedy?

erika last decade
Today was better but I do get a little anxious at night since the illness began. The course was for a week and he said by about the third to fourth day I should start feeling better.

Stemetil is a tranquilliser,an antipsychotic or whatever that means.

jayjay last decade
If you can do without the stemetil then I would stop taking it - sounds odd to take this for labyrinthitis except to try to make you relax a lot..........I guess the doc thought you got the problem cos of being too stressed out? I would stop the stemetil and try without...what do you feel about this?

erika last decade
I haven't taken it all day and I was fine.I will try to forget about it and go to sleep.Stemetil is given as standard to people with this condition over here in the u.k.

I'm in UK too and didn't get prescribed this by my GP for this....glad you are fine without it.. enjoy your sleep and hope you feel better on waking. Let us know how you are tomorrow? :)

Hello to all,
Today I am feeling better although I had a headache all day,I think that it was due to the heat all night(the hot water pipes run under my bedroom so my room is quite warm).

I still woke up dizzy but I wasn't during the day.
I still feel a little disconnected,a slight delay between what my eyes see and what the brain calculates.

It's is difficult to put into words, but I definatly feel that I am on the road to recovery.

good to hear this - let us know tomorrow how you are...

Today I feel as if the dizziness has gone,it's only in the morning that it affects me but I have this feeling from the neck up of pressure, and I feel weak.
I feel like falling over sometimes and dis-orientated.

I knew that it would rain today because I get a similar feeling to this usually a day before it rains.

I called my homeopath and he said that I should give the medicine another two days and call him back.He also said that I should get my blood pressure checked.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?is it just the body healing itself?

Let me know what you'll think.

Thanks.

sounds as tho you are getting better. Have your blood pressure checked as suggested and take it easy for the next few days. Keep us posted of any improvements and get back sooner if you feel any worse.

Hello erika,
Do you think it is possible that I may have sinusitis?I have had a blocked nose painful eyes and a headache for a couple of days.I have had it before. What did you take when you had labyrinthitis,in your opinion what is the best remedy?

jayjay last decade
if you have pain/tenderness when you tap your cheekbones or tap on your forehead just above your eyes then, yes, it could be sinusitis. The best way to get relief from this is to bend your head over a bowl of steamy water and breathe in the steam (be careful not to breathe it in too close or when it is too hot as it could scald!). Do not put any oils or menthol or anything in the water as this is often too strong!!

The best remedy for my labyrinthitis was Conium 30c. It was a horrible experience not being able to move my head or any bit of my body for fear of vomiting/dizziness and/or anything I looked at moving around in a most peculiar manner - even moving my toe made this happen! It is quite individual of course which remedy may suit as the symptoms are unique to you and important for choosing the remedy.
Conium helped me also with sitting in the car, as when I turned my head to talk to people in the back seat of the car I felt odd and queasy/dizzy. Since taking this I rarely suffer in this way.

Have you or anybody you know ever used natrum mur and if so,is it any good?

jayjay last decade
if the symptoms fit the person and the problem they are having then it could help - but it has more of a focus in other areas than ears usually.

I had go to a different homeopath today because it was difficult contacting the other guy.

I told him what was happening and that the previous medicine wasn't working and he gave me a type of cocculus and something else.

I have to get back to him in week so I hope this does the trick.

jayjay last decade
let us know how you get on with this remedy - would be interested to know what the 'something else' with the cocculus is?

I had to go back after a week because I didn't feel any better. He has given me carbo veg now.I didn't tell him that I felt pressure in my head from the neck up,or the general weakness in my body but I looked up what this remedy is good for and I believe that this might help a bit.Any suggestions?

jayjay last decade
just saw your message - sorry I missed it - they go down the list so quickly it is easy to miss a message. I will be away from tomorrow for 3-4 days. In any case it is good if you wait to see how the carbo veg does from your homeopath over the next few days :)

Hi erika.
I am pleased to tell you that I am much better now.I am able to get straight up as soon as I wake(something I have not been able to do for about 14 weeks now).I am a little off balance but I expect that to last for a while considering I have been like this for a very long time.My homeopath has taken me off the meds and has told me to see how it goes.

I wish to thank you Erika for your support.

I will make a new thread to let the doubters know that it has worked for me, but not until you have read this.

Thanks.
