Infection in finger

I have an infection in my thumb for the last two days. It looks like a boil. It is extremely painful. I have been taking Oil of Oregano and Goldenseal. I've also been soaking in Tea Tree Oil.

My problem is that I am getting pink stripes up my arm due to the infection, I guess, getting into my blood? I was trying to avoid an antibiotic, however, I'm concerned with the stripe going up my arm.

Any suggestions anyone? I'm already taking a homeopathic remedy for constitutional.

Hi Maryo
I know you thought this might be a return of old symptoms but it sounds like you could have got some other injury to cause this? You should take care this gets not worse - one of the best sepsis remedies is Pyrogen. if red and intense and throbbing belladonna. If there was a puncture wound Ledum.....is there anything that could have caused it to appear???
bathe also in sea-salt dissolved in warm water.

Hi Erika,

It is red and intense and throbbing and sometimes shooting pains. Very hot to the touch. Last night it was extremely painful in the middle of the night. It's night time now. All stores are closed so I can't get any remedy until tomorrow morning. I also feel cold and achy. I added garlic capsules to the regimen.

For some reason I think this is a reappearing of something. I have had a sore on my thumb like this before. More than once. It didn't go up my arm though. It looks like an oversized infected pimple with a very large whitehead in the middle. I think maybe a boil or possibly a staph infection. It started off as a very tiny blister yesterday morning, and by yesterday evening it was all swollen looking.

Hopefully, with everything I'm doing it will be a little better by tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

ECHINACEA is for blood poisoning!!! The sign is the red stripes. Higher potency and one dose every two hours for 3 times. Then one the next day. Should be ok by then. Not herbal, homeopathic. Homeopathic is the blood corrector.

Is this infection actually a "boil" type or beside the nail (felon) and one could stretch the skin away from the nail to release the pus??

Do you know if there is a foreign object in the "bump?" This makes the choice to use Silicea.

Ranunculus Bulbosus is good for a felon on the fingers by the nail.

An actual boil type would call for a dose of Silicea 30X to bring out to open and drain.

Blessings, Sabra

To clarify, I am suggesting BOTH the Echinacea and silica.

One dose of the silicea. Then the 3, +1 of the Echinacea.

Get the Echinacea.

If a doctor wants to give you a tetanus shot, refuse and take Hypericum 30C, one dose.

Try your best to avoid antibiotics. Homeopathy will do this for you.

Why didn't you soak in the golden seal?

Blessings, Sabra

thanks sabra, your knowledge here is much appreciated - i noticed your ref to homeopathic echinacea on another posting and am glad of the info on this :)
how is the wound today maryo?

Hi. Thanks Sabra and Erika for response.

Question. I do have homeopathic Echinacea in the house already, however, for the last couple years I stopped taking Echinacea all together. I have auto immune problems and read Echinacea should not be taken by people with auto immune problems. How about homeopathically?

Also my homeopathic Echinacea was filled by an anthroposophical pharmacy (Weleda). Is that okay also?

Red lines up my arm look better today. Boil is at a head.

Sabra, this boil is about one inch from the nail, but the nail feels so sore that it feels like something else might be underneath the nail also. Maybe not.

I've had boils as a child under my arms and on my inner thighs. This looks like a boil to me. For some reason since I have had this in the past on my thumb in the same place, I don't think it was caused by something caught in there. I'm not positive though. My skin is very sensitive, and I'm active. Something could have got stuck, but my instinct is no.

I just looked. I do have Echinacea D3 in the house, and I also have Silicea D30 in the house. Both were anthrosopically prescribed a while back. The other thing is they are six-years old with no expiration date on there.

maryo last decade
I went to store. They have no Echinacea in stock. Can I use the D3? It is old. My arm is not looking too good again. It is at a head; should I open it?

Will be gone for afternoon. Will check back later.

Also, will soak in goldenseal and tea tree oil with salt.

anthroposophical is fine - and homeopathic echinacea is fine (the tincture/herbal can be different, quite strong for sensitive people), however I do not understand the potencies, what is a D Potency?
6 years old is also fine as long as they have been stored properly - in any case they do not go 'off' in the sense that they could affect you - they can only lose their potency if stored incorrectly.
I think this may be low potency being D???? But any potency better than none until you get more.

erika last decade
also - if you open it make sure you do this in a very sterile way. Without seeing it is very hard to say whether you should lance it or not.

erika last decade
the only other thought is - did you get stung or bitten by insect or wasp or similar while asleep? if this is possible then consider apis or ledum.

erika last decade
Erika,

I don't know what the D is. 3D I guess is low potency. The Silicea is 30D so.

I was at a gathering. People are urging me to get an antibiotic. Of course there were no homeopaths at this gathering. I don't want to but are the steaks dangerous? I'm not feeling great because of it. I've taken one antibiotic in fifteen years. I don't like them but I don't want to be foolish.

Definately did not get stung. I don't know why but I feel in my gut this some kind of virus that comes every couple of years. Or like a repetitive boil.

I'll hold off until tomorrow to see how it is.

the streaks are sign of infection and as long as in control is OK. Homeopathy can take care of this with care and attention. AS long as the streaks are improving is OK. If you feel unwell, feverish and streaks are spreading then take medical advice.

erika last decade
If the Echinacea is truely homeopathic, take it!! It is the herbal Echinacea that has been found to be difficult for the body and needs watching. Sometimes the herbal is taken too much as everyone believes it will ward off colds and flu, but in some cases it is agrivating to the body.

You are in another country and no one knows what the D means. If it is homeopathic and you already have it, should have taken 3 days ago.

Homeopathic anything is not harmful. All the harm is removed in the manufacture.

The herbals must be watched and one needs to know how to use. Arsnic was used in the (long ago) past for severe fevers, but was watched carefully as it is poison, yet was good for fevers.

Homeopathic arsnic is so harmless one can eat the bottle without harm. Yet, it covers a multitude of healing in its homeopathic form.

If you continue to suffer this type of break outs such as boil type of infection, this is toxicity coming to the surface of the body...through the skin. This is not a bad sign. The only difficulty is finding out what is the continual cause.

A dose of the silicea should cause it to drain naturally. To fool with it may enter another type of condition and there is the probable brusing of the local flesh.

Try to think of things that may be setting off this need of the body to rid itself of something through the skin.

Did you have anything long ago that was a skin eruption that changed in some way. Some ointment put on, or an allergic condition to some plant or food?? Think back.

One shouldn't continue to do this over the years. It should be able to rid itself of this once and for all. Are there any stomach or bowel conditions?

Blessings, Sabra

Sabra,
I've had skin conditions my whole life. When I was a child until early adulthood they were suppressed daily with steriod creams. (I didn't know).

I had styes and boils as a child as well as excema. I've always had digestion problems with foods. They manifest in different ways - allergies, fatigue, asthma.

As an adult I've gotten this thing on my thumb probably about 3 to 4 times very much like this.

I don't think I'm going to need the antibiotic. It looks like it's past the worst at this point.

I did use the Echinacea 3D. I guess along with the other stuff, it knocked it out. The streaks look a lot better today.

Thanks Erika and Sabra!

Bad news with my finger. It started looking better then swelled up and is infected again. No streaks this time, but I went to the doctor today, and he said I HAVE TO take antibiotics. He said I'm really at risk for other things if I don't right away. My finger is twice the size. I feel like this will be a big set back for me taking these antibiotics. I also type for a living so I am worried.. Any suggestions?

maryo last decade
it is obviously very swollen but is it like it was before in appearance or any different?
Is it cold or hot to the touch? does it throb? is the rest of your hand painful?

erika last decade
It is obviously very infected. It is worse than last week except I don't have the streaks. The infection is on the opposite side of the finger now from where it was originally looking like a boil and very swollen and sore and red.

I'm taking the Silcea 30D since yesterday and soaking in tea tree oil, calendula, aloe vera, garlic. I'm also taking goldenseal and oil of oregano. I originally took the Echinacea 3D. That seemed to take away the streaks. I probably could still take that with the Silcea. The way I'm feeling, I'm willing to try anything. My doctor said I MUST take this antibiotic, that it is going into cellulitis.

I feel like I've made some headway with my health lately and would like to avoid antibiotic, because I feel like I will pay in the longrun from taking it, but it is a week and a day now with the infection. I don't want to be foolish either.

It is painful, hot, swollen, feels like a rubberband is wrapped around my finger, it has pressure. Should I stick with Silcea? Also, should I take Echinacea with it even though that's not the way I would usually go?

maryo last decade
Also, I was doing the Silcea 30D four times a day yesterday. Is that too much and should I continue?

maryo last decade
echinacea and silica together will be fine.
try to relieve the inflammation with a bruised cabbage leaf held on the thumb for a while.
You could even try a slice of raw garlic on there (this may burn or work - depends on how sensitive you are to garlic) as garlic is one of natures 'antibiotics'.
Another choice is to place thumb in bowl of lukewarm water + seasalt to see if this brings relief.

erika last decade
did i get it wrong - is it thumb or finger?

erika last decade
it's on thumb.

maryo last decade
the problem with the new sore, is there is no head. Have tried the garlic already and soaked in salt and warm water. The bruised cabbage is a new one on me. How do you get a bruised cabbage?
