Cat with chronic cough and nasal discharge

I have tried numerous remedies to help her and almost all which seem to increase nasal discharge and her energy and then the remedy burns out.

My cat is currently a 7 year old, black, long-haired female named Gwenny.

When we got her as a kitten she was not they type to clean herself and did not appear to have the greatest constitution.

Gradually at some point over the past year she has had a chronic cough which comes on suddenly, it is violent and sounds like I guess someone sawing because she coughs as she exhales and inhales. It almost gags her and lasts for under a minute. It is so bad she cannot move as she coughs and she does not cough up any sputum that I can tell. Chest always seems congested sometimes she gives a little cough as she rests every couple of breaths.

I don't know if it was before or after the cough but she developed a nasal discharge which is never the same. One day it is clear and runny, the next day it is greenish, then when she sneezes it is long, slimy, yellowish, sticky. It tends to be one-sided. She wavers between sneezing and a stuffed nose and when she sneezes she feels better. And when she sneezes the discharge goes on and on and on when a remedy seems to be working.

I do not know her past she came from a pet store, I figured she had some kind of immune weakness from previous vaccinations which was why I used the Thuja.

She also tends to be on the thin side, her chest seems a bit bony, she used to be more muscular.

She is shy, gentle, passive, easily pushed around when she is sick, but I have seen her take on a cat or two at times. She loves attention, loves to be held and pet.

Pankaj originally recommended Sulphur 200C which I used for months and it brought forth a lot of discharge. Then it burned out. I went up a strength and nothing happened you could tell she needed something else.

Then I moved to Thuja 200C and 1M which seemed to increase discharge from nose and I thought she was doing great. 1M burned out and 10M did nothing.

She also had Psorinum up to 10M as well.

Have also tried Pulsatilla and Phosphorus and various cough remedies but I know this case needs a constitutional remedy.

I recently re-started her on the Thuja 200C, it seemed to be doing great and then bam her nose clogged, her fatigue set in and she seemed to be at a stand still.

I am grateful for all suggestions and will try anything at this point. I will re-try any remedy as well if it has already been used.

I feel like I am going in circles and I want to give my girl her life back, she deserves it so much.

Bless,

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Merc Sol is worth considering.
I have read a case (Baker's 'Miracles of healing', I think) where a cat with a barking cough was helped by Ars. Alb., but the colour of the discharge points more to other remedies - and you've already tried Puls and Sulphur.
How long has each remedy been used?
Does she clean herself now? If not, do you sponge her down or some such - cats hate being dirty, normally.
Appetite? Diet?

Yes, now she cleans herself, but does not look well groomed, because she always looks sick. Fur is kind of sticky, sticks together by chest, nose runs, eyes have some crusts on and off, and she looks weak and a bit underweight.

She is an eater, when she is hungry, she will paw at you until you feed her. She loves to eat, but does not eat much.

Thirst is normal.

Each remedy was used for quite some time, I let her dsymptoms increase for a good amount of time to make sure it was not an aggravation, before I stopped giving the remedy she was on, whichever one at the time.

I will try the merc. sol. thank you. I just want her healed, she is a doll, and deserves much better than this.

Diet is all raw and the best you can give a cat, all other cats are thriving and glowing, except for her.

Minsa,

After her second dose she sneezed a bunch of snot out her nose, so I keep my fingers crossed.

Me too!
BTW, Ars. CAN be used - we'll keep it in mind, just-in-case.
Good luck, Namaste.

Remedy has burned out.

For the past several days she is back to being congested and miserable, coughing so hard she gags and vomits saliva. The Merc. Corr. 30C brought out a lot of nasal discharge and she seemed to be recovering nicely. Should I increase the strength of the remedy, if so what strength and if so can I use Merc. Viv.?

Please help

I said Merc SOL, if I'm not mistaken (yeah - just checked). I think you should plus the remedy and give it every alternate day after shaking the stock sol. 10 times or so,for 6 days (that'd make 3 plussed doses) and lay off if improvement is there, repeat as needed.

Astra,

Any suggestions?

She is still very ill and I am very upset over this.
