Autism won't eat, sensory processing issues

Hi,

I have twins both diagnosed with Autism. It is my son that I am posting about at this time.

He will not drink anything that is not clear like water such as juices or milk. He will not eat anything accept what he has decided in his mind that it is what he wants, for the last few days its been vanilla ice cream. Not vanilla yogurt, and definately nothing added. I'm not sure if he's just very stubborn, or if an inability to process information naturally is making him seem very very stubborn.

he was born premature 2 months early...with torticolus. His speach has yet to emerge...except for a few things....like "don't go", "No" and ice cream cone...meaning vanilla ice cream. "water" and "pizza"
His energy level is low...he doesn't seem to like to use his energy for processing learning things unless he beleives it is very important and has a specific reason. Although he does love to run away whenever he gets a chance.

I'll be glad to answer any questions.
Any ideas on remedies that may be helpful?

warmest thanks,
whitemagnolia

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Also, he's 4 years old. He will pee on the toilet, but will not poop their. He will actually get of the toilet, after i put him on, and go and put his diaper on so he can poop. His twin sister is not having any trouble in these specific areas. Any information is welcome.

thanks,

Not sure who diagnosed autism.

Dosent sound like more than ADD[attention disorder] to me .

The true autistic will not look any one in the eye, comunicates in grunts and may try to pull tongue out to look at it.

If he will learn when it is important to HIm then , he is probably quite intelligent.

I assume the torticollis is now gone.

His running away , and the poop in napkin , seem to me to be challenges to your authority to control him.

If you could figure out a way of making his ability to learn , a challenge to your authority you might be surprised how quick he could learn.

The food he likes is "junk" food , and that is the right food for kids whose tissue turnover is rapid [ high metabolic rate] .

Is he plump or skinny?.

What have the last 3/5 generations in your family died of?.

Have you inquired about your son possibly having Asperger's? My son is 10 now, has Asperger's and ONLY eats crunchy things. This would be crunchy and in the bread family...crackers, croutons, chips. He will not eat any fruit but strawberries. He will not eat vegetables. When he was 14 months-24 months...he ate only cottage cheese! At least it was healthy. Your son's appearance of 'control' issues sounds so much like my son. Except with Asperger's it isn't control, it's just their coping mechanism. Asperger's often appears to be ADD...but it isn't. You might inquire or have him observed by a psychologist. Just an idea. Prayers are with you!

The above link is to a story about Amy Lansky's son, Max, who had a miraculous recovery from austism after seeing a homeopath in Ca. He was give a dose of Carsinosin. He was given sequentially higher doses of this remdey and began recovering.

I have read Amy's book and it is facinating. I suggest you read the book. I also suggest you consider the gluten free casein free diet. There is a lot of help for you out there. I know of a homeopathy list on yahoo for those using homeopathy to treat austim and other spectrum disorders. I know of many special diet lists. Also Mothering magazine has many articles on the subject or alternative treatments and therapies for autism. There was an issue devoted to this subject about 2 yrs ago. You might look this up. It was Jan/Feb 2006 or maybe Mar/Apr.

Best wishes!

I should also mention that there is a new book on the treatment of austism authored by a group of homeopaths in Houston. I think the title is Autism Unlocked or something similar. The group of homeopaths in Houston have a practice devoted to the treatment of autism. They also have a yahoo groups email list for parents. If you go to yahoo groups, you will find it there.

hi, Physics is at last catching up with the idea that all matter vibrates in its own way...so please do not buy into the idea that homeopathy is a placebo...Lycopodium can be very helpful...and more get them to pass a tennis ball from hand to hand and see what foot they can stand on the longest or shortest... have fun with it...will work wonders...peace&love...vern

'I really hope you all realize that homeopathy acts only like placebo and has not medicinal affects. Look up 'Randi homeopathy' on youtube and maybe you will be a little bit smarter.'

Gosh, I wish someone had told me this earlier, I wouldn't have bothered to study, qualify, and go on to cure people with it for the last 20 years...all that time I've wasted.

And Mr Randi, btw, is nothing more than a pseudo-intellectual who likes the soound of his own voice. The man would argue with a cabbage if it was the only thing in the room.
