14 month old son with constipation. please help us.

I hope someone can help. My 14 month old struggles to poop. This started a couple of months ago. He looks as though he is straining to pass a bowel movement but I am confused. Maybe he is straining to hold it in. He sits on the floor with his legs out straight and crosses his feet over each other. He goes bright red in the face and screams as though he is in pain. He does this several times a day maybe 20 sometimes. When I check his nappy there is only a stain or a small amount of poop. The consistency is solid but not rock hard. He doesn't have any discharge or mucous in his happy. We have tried prune juice, more water, flaxseed oil, high fibre foods. The doctor has now prescribed lactalose which doesn't work either.
Other than this he is a well, happy child who is very active.
He has always eaten home made food with lots of vegetables, fruit, meat and potatoes. However he is unwilling to try most new foods unless it's something sweet. He is not greedy with his food any will only eat a small amount until he is satisfied.

His temperament is mainly happy and playful, but he is strong willed. He knows what he wants and is determined.
I'd love to hear any remedy suggestions . I have been considering trying Alumina or bryonia 30c. Am I right to try these or do u have another suggestion?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please give him three doses of Sulphur 200 at a gap of 12 hours and see how it goes.

Alumina is a good option if Sulphur fails.

Please avoid giving him potatoes.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I live in the UK so I'm unable to order from this site. I can get sulphur 30c. Is this any good. If it is, what dose should I give?

Many thanks

I have given Sulphur 30c. 2 pillules every 2hrs today. 6 doses in total. There has been no improvement.
I plan to give 2 pillules 4 times tomorrow. Unless anyone else has any recommendations or suggestions.

Please give him Calc Carb 30 in the same manner as you did. If still there is no relief give him nux vomica 30.

Thank you. I will try this. Can I just add some further information about my son as I'm unsure which homeopathic profile he fits in to.

He is tall and slim with little body fat. It takes him a long time to put on weight and he has a very small waist. however he is a strong child who moves very quick and once he grabs something doesn't let go. He has an average to small size head. His skin is pale but if he's warm his cheeks will go bright red. His hair is fair and fine, he doesn't have much hair on his head. He has big blue eyes with long dark eyelashes. Everyone comments on his eyes.

He was born with a
X-linked ichthyosis, which is a genetic skin disorder. Luckily it is very mild and isn't noticable as it is controlled with his cream.

He has a mind of his own. He knows what he wants and is very determined even if I tell him no.
He doesn't like to be confined into a high chair unless he is very hungry. He will only eat as much as he wants, then cannot be persuaded to have more.
He is bored easily and if we are shopping and he is in his pushchair he moans unless he has a biscuit or whole Apple to hold and eat. He prefers to be allowed to roam where ever he pleases.

He loves attention and will almost flirt with strangers, smiling, laughing, waving and batting his eyelashes.

He loves animals they hold his interest and he's not scared to touch. He loves music, dancing, bouncing, being tickled, making people laugh, showing off around adults, picked up so he can look around, sat on my knee, watching tv. He squeals with joy at being chased around the house.

My son is also a light sleeper and although he has good daytime naps he will be disturbed at the slightest noise. He will only sleep in his cot or the car seat. He won't sleep in the pushchair or on the sofa. He also seems to dislike blankets and kicks them off, he has been like this since birth. He always sleeps on his front in his cot with his knees under him and his bottom in the air.

The more time goes on, I am sure when he is sat looking to be straining for a bowel movement, he is actually staining to hold it inside him.

Update: my son had 2 bowel movements this morning without pain. Therefore I have continued to give the sulphur 30c (4 times a day).

I'm unsure if what I'm doing is correct. Should I continue to give sulphur? And how long should I continue with it?

2nd update today: unfortunately my son continued to strain to withhold his stools after his two bowel movements this morning. His evening ended with him screaming in pain whilst releasing very small soft stools. His bottom was very sore by bed time.
I do think this issue is psychological as his stools are not hard.
I will try calc carb next
