This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
That is not the way to establish totality, so no that is not the way to make a prescription.

The cause is only relevent when taken in context of the whole case. Your reaction must suit the remedy, and in fact this is much more important than isolating an apparant cause.

In fact, the true cause of your chronic disease is your miasm anyway, so the only thing you would identify in your past as causation would in fact be just a trigger, which leads us to understand your sensitivity to that event or substance. This is put together with the rest of the case to arrive at a remedy, but does not decide a remedy on its own.

The symptoms show us the remedy. There is no way around that in homoeopathy, it is the definition of our medicine.

That is as difficult as figuring out your remedy - miasmatic analysis is a fairly complex aspect of homoeopathy. Even then, what you do with that information is not the same for each patient - for some it is a necessary component of the overall prescription, for others you may need to use a specific antimiasmatic remedy or you may need to use a nosode.

To understand miasm you need to look over the whole history of the patient, look at all the diseases they have had and try to recognize the pattern behind them. You also need to understand the depth of their disease, and the way that they manage or cope with it.

Miasm is like a vessel inside of which your other symptoms flow. It determines how they flow, the shape they take. Syphilis destroys, Gonorrhea overproduces, Tuberculosis burns out.

Often correct diagnosis of miasm takes many interviews with a patient.
