URGENT: 6 year old child echinococcus cyst of spleen

Since February 2011, my six year old daughter was have stomach pains. The doctors first thought it was related to acidity and prescribed some acidity suppressants. When there was no improvement, they decided to do an endoscopy about a month ago to check for ulcers. Nothing was found but when they were taking our the probe they noticed a cyst near her spleen. On further examination, it was found to be an echinococcus cyst of size 5 cm and attached to the spleen. She was put on Albedazole. When the echo was repeat after one month of albendazole, no change in the cyst size has been observed. but in general her pain seems to be improving, except a couple of incidents of severe pain.

I read a case where this type of condition could be treated with homeopathy. (
http://www.similima.com/case27.html)

Doctors are saying that if the cyst does not get treated with medicines, she might need an operation. Since spleen is a very sensitive organ, it can get risky. My daughter has a very weak body constitution and she may not be able to bear this surgery.

Can someone please help in the treatment of this case.

Please.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Unless the details of the complete case is known it is difficult to decide any specific treatment.
However, meanwhile I would suggest you to give your daughter Biochemical salts NATRUM SULPH 6x & CALCAREA FLOUR.6x alternately two times each in a day with a gap of about 3-4 hours. Each dose of two tablets. I feel that this will prevent any further complications & God willing she will improve as well.
Kindly report after a week of this treatment.
Generally, such cysts are very passive one & do not create any untoward complications. The pain she was experiencing may be due to some surrounding adhesion which might not be there now.

Also,

Can you please give the full names of these salts. I got multiple results when I searched.

Apologies for my limited knowledge of homeopathy.

The information you have given is not enough for me to pick a remedy.

Complete information about the child is to be given. Her behaviour, likes/dislikes, her fears, any odd habits, her food cravings/aversions as well as general things which make her feel better/worse should be mentioned. What is it that will help me understand your child better ? How is she different from other kids? What is striking about her ?

What other complaints does she have ?

Dr Sameer,

please find below the details of the Case.

- Female child born full term with IUGR, ASD and a Cleft Pallette with a birth weight of 1.7 kgs in December 2004
- Later it was found that her problems could be attributable to distal trisomy of chromosome 10.
- As an effect, her mental and physical gorwth is retarded. She does not talk and walk til date
- Her cleft pallette was repaired in October 2007. There were a few complications during that surgery.
- The ASD was closed July 2009 and went very smoothly and is doing fine.
- Her present body weight is about 11 kgs.
- She has a poor immunity, had UT infections a few times but not for 2 years now.
- Blood tests also show a deficiency of calcium, iron and zinc.
- She is extremely poor eather, eating only blended food and rejects any solids.
- She likes sweet food and does not like sour and salty taste. Does not like cold food. (more due to habit, i guess)
- She prefers cool environment with gentle breeze.
- She is active and is very caring by nature.
- She does not like people getting angry or violent.
- Likes to meet new people, esp elders.
- Likes outdoors - travling in bus, car or buggy.
- Mostly sleep well through the night for 10 - 11 hours. If she wakes up in the night, she does not cry but rocks her back to sleep.

All was going fine when around feb/march this year she started having stomach pains. Doctors are saying that if the cyst does not get treated with medicines, she might need an operation. Since spleen is a very sensitive organ, it can get risky. My daughter has a very weak body constitution and she may not be able to bear this surgery.

Dr Sameer, I understand that this is a fairly complicated case. However, if we can focus on managing the immediate issue with the cyst, it can save her this surgery and some complicaitons.

Please let me know if you need any further detials and I would promptly share them.

thanks in advance. regards

Ravi

Once again, you have given pathological information, but what is needed is a picture of your child's experience of this state.

I want to know what is it like to be 'her' ?

Dr Sameer

Its quite quite difficult to picture this because she does not talk. However, let me try.

Before we started albendazole, she was having regular and I guess severe pains, because she was regularly crossing her legs and stiffening her leg so hard that she would sweat. We could also feel that the was moving her left leg in such a way that it was 'clicking' at the hip joint.

She was also pressing her teeth quite hard and grinding them, I guess because of the pain.

Her sleep was quite disturbed and she gets up a few times. This is happening since last 4-5 months.

She is quite irritable and starts crying or shouting, even hitting her head with her hand, at slightest provocation.

Not sure if this helps. If there are any specific questions I can try to answer them too.

Thanks again for you time and expertize.

Ok.

-she does not talk.

Rather she cannot talk. Just says a few works like mam and papa. She uses some signs to communicate but does not speak.

-She is quite irritable and starts crying or shouting, even hitting her head with her hand, at slightest provocation.

And when we are not able to understand her, she looks visibly frustrated and cries.

This happens only when she really is in pain. It used to happen earlier but rarely 9once a week) Now, its quite often. many times a day.

-- She does not like people getting angry or violent.

For example, if we are scolding her 2 yr old little sister, she gets upset and says 'papa' or ' mama' in aloud tone as if asking us to stop. If there any violent scenes on the TV, she starts crying.

- Likes to meet new people, esp elders.

She is happy to go to new people. If we are meeting some one new, she will easily go to them and ask them take her in their lap. She goes easily to elders, maybe because she knows that they would be careful with her. She is very cautious and often scared that she might get hurt by another child playing near her or running by her etc.

-She was also pressing her teeth quite hard and grinding them, I guess because of the pain. Under what circumstances, did this use to happen ?

Only under extreme pain, like in high fever or when she was having the UT infections.

Please give her 3 doses of Carcinosin 30c for 1 single day only, i.e., Total of 3 doses at half hour gap in water, and after that no more doses.

Report after 10 days please.

Dear Dr Sameer

I had some difficulties finding carsinosin in Belgium. The pharmacies told me that this medicine is not allowed to be sold over the counter any more and I needed a prescription. However, I was able to import it from UK.

Well, its been about 15 days that I gave the dose as recommended by you. The next day, my daughter fell quite sick with high fever, runny nose and headache etc. However, the doctors said that there is high fever flu going on at the moment, so I guess that it was nothing related to carsinosin.

We had a ultrasound scan couple of days back and there is no change in the cyst at this moment. The allopathic medicine (Albendazole) continues.

There are no other changes in the behavior etc of my daughter for the moment.

Please Advise.

Ravi

Dear Dr Sameer

We had a third ultrasound of the cyst last week and the doctors said that there is no change in the size of the cyst.

Do you have any suggestions?

regards

Ravi
