hay fever & chronic catarrh... please help....

My hay fever re-appeared after a very tiring and stressing day (I didn't have any symptoms for at least 5 years) I feel it especially in the morning, with the main symptoms being catarrh and less acute sneazing and runny eyes. I took nux vomica (6C) , every half an hour (three pills last night and 2 this morning) and I see some improvement. What should I do? Continue this dosage?
I really want to avoid conventional medicine.

I should note maybe my medical history here: I have chronic sinusitis combined with polyps in my nose. Conventional medicine suggested surgically removing the polyps which I did- and now two years later things are even worse than before: chronic catarrh and loss of smell.

I had tried homeopathy in the past and my type, as diagnosed by two different homeopathy doctors, was pulsatilla but there was no result. It didn't seem to work - they later tried different types as well- but nothing seemed to work...

Besides the acute symptoms of hay fever which I am experiencing now - can homeopathy help me also with my chronic problem? I recently started exercising and worked on my diet, I really want to breathe properly again, smell and be healthy...

I have used Bacillinum 200 to help many with catarrh and hay fever with some success.

The dose is 4 pellets of the remedy under the tongue taken before meals. Please note that this remedy may be taken only if you do not have any other ailments as it has a tendency to aggravate them. It should normally stop the catarrh overnight and if it does so a repeat dose should be taken in 2 weeks after the first dose.

Please record your reaction to this therapy if you use it, on this Forum.

I would like to add a note of warning about this remedy which I failed to mention in my last post.

This remedy may be taken in ONE dose only and should not be taken on a daily basis.

The second booster dose should be taken between 10 - 14 days after the first dose.

can you offer any help for my husband. he has chronic catarrh resulting in excess mucus which he is constantly coughing up from the minute he gets up, til bedtime. He suffers with angina, high cholesterol, asthma. He is unable to do any hard exercise & is also overweight. All of which make him very depressed. He is waiting for another angioplasty as I write. He is already taking a large number of drugs for all his problems. Any help would be appreciated.

It breaks my heart to read the problems that your husband is suffering from which I believe may have originally been caused by his Asthma and the drugs that he was prescribed for them. I am not confident that the treatment that I shall prescribe below can help him as his condition is very complicated and chronic.

This treatment is for Asthma which in the case of a person who has only this ailment will help it to clear up in a few weeks. In the case of your husband I hope that it can give him at least some relief.

Please follow the directions below precisely:

Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from your nearest supermarket.
Pour out 100ml
Drop in 3 pellets or 1 drop of liquid Nat Sulph 6c into the 400ml water
Cap the bottle tightly and succuss it 4-6 times by banging on your palm and look out for the air bubbles to fizzle up from the bottom.
Pour out 1 teaspoonful of the potentized remedy into half a cup of water from another bottle of the same water and stir it gently.
Sip 1 teaspoonful of the water from the cup just once daily. Do not use the water in the cup on the next day as it loses its potency.
Remember to succuss the remedy every day before you go through this routine.

This remedy should be taken daily for some time in the future and you may like to know that I have many instances of adults who were chronic sufferers from Asthma for many years who do not use the remedy any more after about 4 months on this therapy. Others who were not so chronic react favourably in a few days and only use the remedy if and when necessary.

The remedy that I have used when the patient is having an acute Asthma attack and is straining for breath is Ars Alb 200c. This remedy is taken dry and just 4 globules will suffice for a dose which may only be taken just once daily when the patient is gasping for breath. This usually clears the lungs and opens up the airways in under 20 minutes. It is far more effective that any inhaler or steroid.

In addition to the above treatment I would like you to open the lid in your electric kettle and let the water boil with clouds of steam. Have your husband inhale the steam deeply twice daily for about 5 minutes. The steam will help to draw out the phlegm in his lungs and is part of the cure.

How old is your husband and for how long has he been suffering from Asthma and his other ailments ?

Joe, thank you for these suggestions, we will certainly give them a try. However he asthma is realy not such a problem, it is the cronic catarrh which persists all day. I read your suggestions to others on Bacillinum 200. Do you think this would help?

I do not really think that Bacillinum 200 can help your husband but there is no harm in giving it to him and you can watch for his response which you can perhaps indicate to me.

His is a very complicated case and perhaps other more experienced homeopathy may like to comment with their suggestions.

I wish him all the best and hope that he will be better able to recover after the angioplasty.

I should have told you that my husband is 60 next year. Both his parents had a history of heart disease & he had a quadruple bypass at the age of 42! Until then he had always been a keen sportman & played rubgy regularly. The angina returned about 7 yrs ago & he has had several angioplasties to put in stents. it would be fair to say that although we eat healthly I find it very hard to stop him drinking! (beer & wine, not spirits) which he says he does to try to relax as he gets very stressed which only makes matters worse. Now the phlegm problem has been added life for him seems very miserable. librarylady
