No remedy for stone in salivary gland
I have noticed a few posts regarding stones in the salivary gland and that there have not been anything posts from anyone to help with this. I just posted one myself regarding my son. Am I right in assuming that there are not remedies to help with this problem.Carmel on 2011-09-12

No that is not correct. Any remedy can cure any specific condition if the peculiar and general health symptoms of the patient match. Homoeopathy is not about choosing a medicine on the basis of your disease name, it is about applying a medicine holistically to the entire picture of the person's health. In doing so, any local symptom (those affecting just a particular location in the body) can be cured. This is because the control systems of the body are brought back into order, and take care of those kinds of symptoms on their own without the need for direct intervention by the practitioner.

thankyou for that. So what would you need to know regarding symptoms when there aren't any. My son has a stone in the submandibular gland. He can feel it when he presses his neck. It is 8mm according to an ultrasound. He has not had a blockage for about one year now. Would this require a constitutional remdey?

Everyone has symptoms. We look at every aspect of a person, mental, emotional, physical, even spiritual, to arrive at the big picture of their health.
Generally speaking, the stone itself would be unlikely to help in the selection of a remedy. It would need to be the other things in the case - fears, anxieties, traumas, sleep, energy, appetite, sensitivities, family history, personal history of disease - that would form that picture.
Are you familiar with homoeopathic case-taking? Do you need guidelines for giving your son's case?

Homoeopathy is a whole system of case-taking and analysis - those off-the-shelf medicines for a specific complaint are not homoeopathy.
1. Describe in detail the main problem - appearance, colour, shape etc.
2. Describe any pains or behaviours associated with the symptoms.
3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.
4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.
5. Go through each symptom or problem he has, answering questions 1-4, even if the problem does not seem connected to any others.
6. When did each problem start? What happened around that same time?
7. What is his character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he have? What makes her irritable? Flesh out her personality.
8. What foods does he crave or hate? What drinks does he crave or hate? Is he sensitive to anything he eats or drinks?
9. How does the weather or season affect him?
10. How have all his milestones gone? Does he have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc
11. How is he with socializing with others?
12. What is his bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?
13. Where does he sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour?
14. History of illnesses in his life?
15. Has he reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs?
16. Problems with sleep? Position he sleeps in? Nightmares or any dreams he talks about?
17. How is he with animals?
18. How is he with adults or strangers?
19. What is the family history of illness and disease?
20. What was the pregnancy like? Any odd symptoms or feelings that disappeared once he was born?

I forgot to mention that at the moment his acne takes priority over the salivary gland, as it I am concerned that it will impact on his mental health. It was starting to impact before he started on the antibiotics. But after he started taking them and there was a little improvement he felt that things were moving ahead. But now that it has stopped improving he feels that things aren't going to get better. He has tried Kali Brom 30, Silica 30 and 6, Arnica 6c in the wetdose, Arnica 30, and Calc Sulph 30 with no positive results.

I noticed your mention of your son having used Arnica 6 in the Wet dose and would like to have your confirmation that he has used the therapy precisely as prescribed below.
It is essential that the remedy water is applied directly on his face on the lesions as this accelerates the cure.
The remedy which has helped many is Arnica 6c in the Wet dose taken twice daily and also applied directly on the face as often as is possible to keep the lesions damp.
The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:
Order the remedy in a 5ml Alcohol pack aka Liquid Dilution in a bottle with a dropper arrangement.
If this is not available the Dry dose in pellets may be use but this is not as effective as the remedy in the original Ethanol pack
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle or 5 Pellets and shake it hard to produce bubbles. This is homeopathic succussion and must be done every time before a capful of the bottle which is the dose is taken as directed.

Hi Joe, I have tried your arnica remedy once again, and there been no improvement with his acne. So I am not sure why it has not worked. he took the wet dose internally and washed his face externally.

It is very rarely that Arnica 6c does not help a patient who suffers from Acne.
It has helped countless thousands of teenagers and if your son's acne did not respond, I regret that I do not have any other alternative remedy that can help him.
It is my hope that the classical homeopath who often tries to interfere with my Joepathy even after the patient clearly proclaims that he was cured in a miraculous manner, will use his classical learning to help your son's acne.

He has cystic acne which is different to acne or just pimples. He has large nodules under the skin that contain pus and his face is very inflamed. It is great that Arnica can help with acne for many teenagers as it such an embarrassing condition for teenagers to have.As for Classical Homeopaths, they dont always get it right. We have been to many Homeopaths and given different remedies, but they have still failed to come up with the right remedy in his case. That is why he is now on antibiotics.

The antibiotic may help him for the moment but it is not a permanent cure. What is the brand you are using and what is the strength?
Do let me know how the antibiotic helps him in a few days.

After reading a case he is treating today on the ABC, I often wonder how far they can go to justify their classical philosophy in choosing a remedy. I was reading his handling of a case of Endometriosis where he prescribed a remedy based purely on a 'sensation' which had in my opinion absolutely nothing to do with the actual ailment. I am awaiting the patient's response in a few weeks with interest.
I have thought of another remedy that may help your boy and you may get it but not use it till we observe how the AB works on his skin.

He has been on antibiotics for a few months now. He was on Doxycycline 50mg for two months and although the acne improved it did not get rid of it. So he is now on Bactrim 160mg and although this is keeping it under control, it has not cleared it. He is seeing a Specialist in a few weeks and I think he may suggest Roaccutane. But hopefully there are other things that can be done before we try this one. He has taken Silicea 6x which was for the removal of the salivary stone but it did not help with that nor the acne. He has also had Silicea 6c and 30c. I was a little disappointed that I was asked to do a case history on my son, which took me a long, and had no response to it. I have now removed it from the forum as I felt it was rather personal.

I am indeed shocked to learn that you have been giving your son a cocktail of antibiotics and it is not a surprise that his acne has been going from bad to worse.
This is the problem that a consultant on a forum like the ABC faces as we are not fully aware of the background to the case.
In this case you my STOP all antibiotics that you are giving to your son. I am of opinion that his present condition is due to the after effects of these powerful AB's and this may aggravate his condition temporarily till his body overrides the multitude of poisons that these AB's contain.

I owe my state of wellness which is the envy of many who are less than half my age to Arnica 30 of which I take a dose nightly before bed.
I am not a professional homeopath as Homeopathy to me is only a Hobby to which I am dedicated. I use Homeopathic remedies in a manner that is not the classical norm and has been termed 'Joepathy' and you are invited to put this term into Google if you wish to read some of the more interesting of the many cases that I have cured.

Joe, I think that you have missed the point here, and you know nothing about me and I do object to you saying that I am responsible for my sons damage. First of all I have two children who have never been on antibiotics nor have they been vaccinated as I have always used homeopathics and herbal medicine when they became ill. The reason that my son is on antibiotics is because at 17 it was his decision to take them as he was embarrassed of his disfigurement and it affected his mental state. If you read my post, I say that the antibiotics have helped him and he was much worse without them. In this case Homoeopaths have not been able to come up with the right remedy for his acne and he was sick and tired of having to give his history over and over again without any results. He will be 18 soon and he does make his own decisions. And furthermore, I spend so much money every week on supplements and herbals to counteract the ill effects of the antibiotics. You may have to concede that Arnica does not work for everyone. Because Arnica did not work, he took the antibiotics. We did try it twice hoping that he would get some change.
