Ruptured ear drum in 15 month old

My little girl had a cold with high fever and a lot of nasal discharge. I took her to the dr and he said that the eardrum was a little red and told me that if I saw her getting worse, i.e grumpier, crying more often to go ahead and give her antibiotics. I asked if it was ok to wait, because the antibiotics were a 10 day course and if she was to get better I didn't want to give them to her unecessarily.
She seemed to be getting a little better and I gave her 3 doses of puls 30c which didn't seem to help. After a day she actually got worse, tugging her ear, so i decided to give her the antibiotics. That same day, after her nap she woke up fine and happy. I assumed that the antibiotics were starting to work, only to my surprise I saw puss coming out of her ear.
The dr said that the eardrum is ruptured and not to worry and continue giving the antibiotics for the rest of the 10 days.
My concern is if the hole will heal quickly, without complications, such as further infection , hearing loss or formation of scar tissue.
Is there something I could give her that will help the healing process? And is there something that will help prevent reoccuring ear infections, because fluid in the eardrum has happened before.
She is a happy baby, chubby, fair skin, likes to be comforted, sulks easily when told off, sleeps well and eats well.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Can a homeopathic remedy be given simultaneously with an antibiotic?

Dear Rania ,

1)Aconite 30.(3 doses in a day, morning-afternoon-night). One dose means
The medicine is in liquid dilution form. Add 3-4 drops of medicine in some 20 ml (Approx. 2 sip) water then mix slowly with spoon. Sip up the content slowly.

2)Plantago Q (Mother Tincture). Mix 10 drops of medicine in 10 drops of very luke warm water. You can use this as a ear drops. Plantago Q will ease the pain and fasten the recovery. The procedure is very simple, make the ear drops as explained above. Just put 3-5 drops in one of the ear, wait for 1 min. turn down the head. All the medicine will move out just let the ear dry on its own.(dont use any ear bud-cotton to dry). Repeat with the other ear if there is any infection in that ear esle no need to use medicine. Thats the way you will be using Plantago. You can treat the ears with this medicine 2 times a day (morning and night ie:before going to bed).

Please do update your childs progress on regular bases. Stop all other medicines in use if you are following the above said treatment.

Regards,
Nikkie.

Thank you for replying. I am afraid to stop the antibiotics in fear of infection. If it were me I would try this, but on my 15 month old I'm scared not to make things worse. I was strictly advised not to allow any water in the ear, always keeping it dry.
I was mostly wondering if I could give her something after the antibiotics, or even during ( or do the antibiotics totally antidote the remedy?)
In my country homeopathic medicine is found mostly in capsule form.
Thanks again.

Dear Rania,

Instead of giving antibiotics every time your child has an ear infection, homeopathy can strengthen your child's health so that the whole pattern of getting sick stops.

Nikkie.

Dear Nikkie,

You are right and I totally agree with you! I have been using homeopathy for 5 years now and the difference I have seen is huge.
Only once did I take antibiotics for a UTI that even after 5 days of unbelievable pain and remedies prescribed by a homeopath it would not go away. In the end the homeopath himself advised me to take antibiotics.

I feel that due to having a hole in her eardrum it's too late to risk it and lose valuable time.
I would honestly appreciate it if you could give me some advise on the after care. What to do to help the eardrum heal and how to prevent it in the future.

Rania

Silicea 30 may be given a chance. The remedy may be taken twice a day for few days. Of course if Nikkie agrees.

Thank you Dr. Kadwa. I'm assuming this would be taken after the antibiotic course has finished.

Yes. You may give her three doses of Silicea 200 at a gap of 12 hours instead of Siliciea 30.

We went to the dr after 2 weeks and he said that it healed completely. He found it difficult to tell it apart from the other. I'd like to think that the silica helped. Thanks again.
