Mucle aches and weakness a result of Nat Phos?

I am a 56 year old woman who began taking Nat Phos as a way to get rid of stomach pain, undiagnosed as a possible ulcer. I had a flu shot on October 4 of this year. The reason I mention this is because I do not know why for the past week or so I have been feeling weak and achey in the muscles of my outer arms and my upper thighs. I have been taking the Nat Phos for a couple weeks and it seemed to be helping my stomach tremendously. However, when I eat certain foods, I do get acid indigestion which is always helped with the Nat Phos. What seemed to work for what I was experiencing physically was a sort of TENs unit massager on these muscles and aspirin twice a day. I quit the TENs sort of unit a couple days ago, as I was feeling much better and then forgot my aspirin and it has started all over again...the only thing different in my life is the Nat Phos. I did read up on homeopathy cures and am taking the appropriate dosage and it says these homeopathics work WITH the body and dont do anything damaging, which I believe. Anyways, I am back on the TENs sort of unit and my aspirin, but am still aching terribly today. Is it the flu shot? The Nat Phos? I have NEVER had this reaction before, and I did have the same flu shot last year with only 3 days of feeling blaah. Thank you!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Homoeopathic medicines, when used for extended periods, can cause side effects. These are known as proving symptoms, and the longer you use the remedy the more likely they are to happen.

In order to know what a medicine can cure, we perform experiments (called 'Provings')where we give a medicine to a group of people, and record all the symptoms the medicine produces in them. These symptoms, when present in an individual who hasn't taken the medicine, can actually be cured by it (this is the Law of Similars - like cures like).

So every one of our medicines is capable of causing symptoms in you. The main reason it happens is because the dose is too large or is too frequent. Typically people who mechanically take a medicine for a period of time will begin to develop proving symptoms.

Even if you are taking the correct medicine, taking it for too long, or in too large doses, which actually begin to cause harm. This is an inevitable consequence of the Law of Similars.

If a person continues doing this, the medicine can actually cause permanent negative changes in their health, actually grafting those symptoms on to the original ones.

For this reason, we have another basic principle in homoeopathy, one which safe-guards patients from the harm our medicines can do. The Law of the Minimum Dose - only give the least amount to create a change in the patient. After this change begins, you stop, and allow it to progress as far as it can, before repeating the medicine.

Homoeopathic medicines are more like catalysts than like drugs that orthodox medicine uses. They create a cascade effect in your body, which only needs to be started to be effective. Continuing after it has started does not help the process, and will only cause further unwanted effects.

The appropriate dosage for any patient must be determined individually. This is done partly by taking a thorough case, and partly by observing and assessing the response of the patient.

At this stage, if the Nat-phos is causing unwanted side effects, stopping the medicine should also stop them.

Thank you, David! I did not stop the homeopathy when I should have and I was aware of this in the information provided on the website but didnt understand it till now. I originally just wanted something to stop my stomach pain...I did take a dose this morning, but will stop. If I get the stomach pains again, should I reintroduce the Nat Phos? I do have instructions on how to do that, or maybe I should let it go for a few months and see how I do? I was tired of the heartburn and pain when I took my regular meds. This had been going on for a year and I was tired of tums...not that it didnt work, it masked it but never went away. With the Nat Phos, I took the starting dose recommended on the site. 4 tabs, 3 times a day. I did feel better after about a week and a half. It was interesting to not have the stomach pain and heartburn! I guess its like everything else...too much is TOO MUCH..there is a limit and people need to realize that and your reply will help others to see that more is not necessarily better. I appreciate that! Again, thank you!!

If your symptoms simply went away, without first getting worse, then it is likely the Nat-phos is only palliating your symptoms. Eventually palliation turns into suppression, and at that stage you may begin to see new more serious symptoms appear.

If you want to present your case here, I am happy to take it and try to suggest a more appropriate treatment.
