Newbie with Sinus and Adenoid problem.
Hello everyone,I'm new here, i've been reading a lot of your posts, they are so helpful and very informative. Can you give me an opinion with my problem please, here is my story.
I've been suffering with what i thought was a sinus problem for the past 5-6 years, my Dr kept on prescribing Antibiotics and set me up for an appointment to see an ENT specialist, i had to go on a public waiting list to see him at his hospital, i had to wait for two years to be seen.
First i must tell you that i am a smoker, i've tried very hard to stop during the last few years without success, i've used patches etc etc etc.
I finally got my appointment after waiting the two years six weeks ago.
I was seen by the head ENT'S understudy, very nice man, i was truthful with him with regard to smoking, i told him that i had cut down.
He examined my nose and said my sinus was fine but my Adenoids were too large and was causing all my problems,daily stuffed nose, nasal drip, catarrh, headaches etc etc. He said they dont really like to remove Adenoids in adults but sent me home to think about it.
I returned a month later to tell him that i will have the operation, at this appointment i was seen by the head ENT who just dismissed me saying i should change my
lifestyle and that removing my Adenoids would not make a difference, i was very taken back with his attitude, i suppose he had no interest because i was a smoker and would waste his time, i was with him for exactly three minutes. He didnt even suggest a remedy or nasal sprays or what i should do, as i've said i was dismissed because i was a smoker.
Sorry to unload but i wanted to explain where im coming from.
I know now that smoking has to stop,can you tell me how i can cope with my Adenoid problem and the side effects without medical meds.
I can understand the ENT with regard to my smoking if my sinuses were effected but smoking has nothing to do with large Adenoids in adults, can you help me?

What are your symptoms now?
Nasal blocking, worse day or night? worse on lying down?
Sneezing? worse on waking, exposure to dust, smoke, cold etc?
Nasal discharge? watery, thick, colored?
Feel mucus falls from nose backwards into the throat?
Have to hawk out mucus from the throat often?
any throat irriation?
Any throat pain, difficuly in swallowing?
Are the above symptoms associated wtih fever?
Worse in any particular season of the year?
Worse on exposure to cold, intake of cold things?
Do you suffer from any headache? worse on any particular part of the head?
Worse bending the head?
Heaviness or pain?
Any other allergies?
How is your appetite, thirst, urination, bowel movement, sleep etc.?
Any family history of similar illness, allergies etc.?
The replies to above details would help in suggesting an appropriate remedy for you.

In answer to your questions.
Nose blocked continously more so on the right side.
Very stuffed abd blocked first thing in the morning and through out the day.
I sneeze but not too frequent, unsure what the cause is.
I have no nasal discharge, mucus falls from nose backwards and it stays at back of my throat, it feels like glue and at times i cough a lot, i can never get rid of it.
Over the last few years i have used Antibiotics and nasal sprays prescribed by my GP, i have had two courses of Steroids also during the last few months.
I have constant headaches, mostly accross my forehead, i get a full feeling if i bend forward.
I have no throat pain or difficulty in swallowing, sometimes i get ear pain but ENT Dr said my ears are fine.
I have never had fever.
I have the problem Summer and Winter, actually as im writing this letter i have the headache, it is a beautiful sunny day but i have not ventured outdoors.
I was checked at the ENT Clinic for Alergies, they said i had no allergies.
My appetite is good, i dont experience thirst as i try to drink a lot of water daily.
Urination normal, i get a bit constipated at times,i take Physillium Husk from time to time.
I sleep very heavy and wake in the morning exausted as if i had not slept at all.
I have this problem about 6 years and my GP was treating me for a sinus problem while waiting 2 years on the list to be seen by the ENT Dr.
The ENT Dr said on examination that my sinus was ok,he said my Adenoids are my problem.
To be honest i feel that my sinus could not be ok as i am a smoker, hopeing to give up because i cant live with this frustrating condition any longer.

i know about the adenoid problem i have had this for nine months now and the silly doctor that took them out said that he would not have done this procedure on me it is a darn shame that they will snatch a tonsil out just because it is swollen but not take the real root of the problem this is stupid leave the dang tonsil because they swell they are fighting off the infection i just wish that sometimes i were dead ps i go to court tom on this stupid a....physician hopefully i get my say
