This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Calcarea arsenicosa is a mineral remedy of the c-ancer miasm. In Arsenicum there is a feeling: 'I need people but I cannot trust them - they may rob me'. The patient cannot trust anyone. In Calcium there is a need for security and support. So we see in Calcarea arsenicosa a person who feels insecure as well as mistrustful. In Calcarea arsenicosa the need for people is almost a dependence, and this along with the mistrust, makes him highly anxious and insecure. He feels: 'I may be cheated, let down (mistrustful -Arsenicum) by the people on whom I depend for protection (Calcium)'.
Calcarea arsenicosa is full of anxiety, extremely insecure. I had a case of a menopausal woman who came with the complaint of severe palpitation, which came on from the least anxiety, fright or bad news. She had a son and a daughter. The son went abroad and she got the feeling that he might never come back. All her complaints were worse when he left, especially after her husband fell ill. She felt that her future source of support (in case her husband died) had become untrustworthy. This created extreme anxiety in her, and she would call her son over the phone every week. I gave her Calcarea arsenicosa on these features of mistrust and insecurity. Also Phatak's Materia Medica gives: 'Complaints of fat women around the climacteric, when the least emotion causes palpitation'. Later, they may become extremely sad (Kent's Lesser Writings).
In the compensated state, Calcarea arsenicosa may be very careful and cautious. He is very independent.

Calcarea arsenica patients are particularly anxious about health issues and what the future will bring, and they desire the comfort and security of company. There is also a characteristic fear of birds, symbolizing the fear of sudden threats and the lack of safety perceived. Some patients tend to be irritable and angry in addition to the other psychological symptoms. Stomach symptoms show a diminished appetite and greatly increased thirst, yet abdominal pain and diarrhea may come on after too much drinking. There is also a strong craving for soup (cf. Anacardium orientale). Ulcer formation has been linked with diminished menstrual discharge. This remedy also shows a tendency to epilepsy and to nephritis; there are easily incited heart palpitations and heart constrictions from emotions. It also addresses obesity, is often indicated during the menopausal time in women, and alleviates complaints of abstinence in alcoholics.

Calcarea arsenica shows heart palpitations from slightest excitement of emotions, from anger particularly. There is also a profound bent to anxiety and apprehension in regard to the future and health matters and one's salvation. As in Lithium carbonicum, the heart is reacting in unison with other organ systems. Epileptic convulsions can occur; the aura centers in the region of the heart; oftentimes, this tendency to epilepsy is accompanied by valvular disease. Pain and sinking in the heart are followed by spasms, vertigo, momentary blindness, and weakness. Before an epileptic convulsion, the patient observes a burning heat in the chest and a throbbing of the blood vessels, especially in the head and back. Headaches are related to the heart pains and palpitations. In headaches, the pain may go to the side not lain upon; there are also pains around the ears. Mental exertion ameliorates the head pain initially but worsens it subsequently. Heart palpitations occur not only from least excitement but also from exertion, particularly during the evening and at night when suffocation is a concomitant symptom. Nephritis often develops concurrently with the heart symptoms. There also is a throbbing pain in the back that extends down the arms. In angina pectoris, there are grasping pains in the heart.

The following mental symptoms are often a guide to its use. Anger and complaints from anger and vexation. Anxiety in evening, at night, in bed and during a chill, and on waking. Apprehensiveness; about the future, about his salvation, at night. Inclined to criticize. Desire for company. Confusion of mind on waking. Inability to concentrate the mind. Delusions. Sees dead people, phantoms, images. Illusions of fancy. Sees visions of fire, worse at night, and on closing the eyes. Despair of recovery, of salvation. Discontented. Excitable. Fear of death at night, of solitude, or insanity. Becomes indifferent to pleasure. Insanity. Irresolution. Irritable. Lamenting. Loathing of life; weary of life. Weakness of memory. Mischievous. Obstinate. Sensitive - easily offended. Extreme restlessness, especially at night, tossing about in bed; during heat; and during menses. Extreme sadness in evening, and during fever. Easily startled. Timidity. Weeping, at night.
