4 year old suffering with recurrent cold.

Hello,
We live in New Jersey, USA.

My 4 yr old son has been suffering from recurrent cold. Every winter he gets very bad cold every few weeks and it usually lasts anywhere from 2-3 days to a week.
During that period he has severe cough and some times (not always) stuffy nose. This winter he is also getting some fever along with the cold. The main problem is always the cough; and for few days he can barely eat anything. He also loses appetite during this period and also throws up several times when the cough gets very bad. Even when the symptoms ease up his cough can last another couple of weeks and by then he is sick again. So he pretty much suffers the whole winter and Cold weather can last 5-6 months here.
The doctors here told us something like that he has permanent cold inside and a lot of kids have that and there is not much can be done about it.
But I truly believe homeopathy would have some remedy to fix this permanently. Please help, my son is getting weaker by the day due to this recurrent sickness.
