The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Flat Abs

Hi,

I've read many topics in the forum regarding weight loss and many had successful results using phytolacca berry/Nat Phos.

A little on my background.

I'm 25 (almost 26, just few months left) 174cm tall and weigh 78.7Kgs at the moment.
I was almost in lean category till 12th grade. After which I had a football injury and had sciatica, which made me overweight as I couldn't walk. With help of physio therapy(Thanks to my Doc) I started walking. My weight in the span of 4 years shot to 94Kgs (Sciatica, Junk food, Lack of sleep, No exercise). Till last year I said to myself I need to do something about before its too late. So joined a Gym nearby. Since I had in my mind I need to achieve this weight loss, so within 6 months working out, my weight went down from 94kgs to 80Kgs doing extensive cardio. I did cut the junk off from my meals and results were pretty satisfactory. Although my body wasn't toned. I did weight training along with cardio which helped in toning it up and did lose weight along the course to about say 77Kgs.I do have a limitation while working out, I'm not allowed to do forward bending due to history of sciatica.

After almost achieving my target 3 months back, I thought I can start eating little sweets, shouldnt do much harm as im still going to gym and sweating it out. I do eat like one Rasgula(Indian sweet)a day, 2 cup tea a day with sugar and 3 Roti's a meal with sabzi(could be any). No other junks

Due to my work, I got to gym in evening (6pm-8pm) and do spinning/cycling(40 min) and treadmill running at high speed for (30min) and weight training, few stretches everyday. But I tend to over eat during my dinner (around 9pm) due to excessive gym'ing. My weight is now stalled and only my hand muscles are getting built since Im not working on my abs due to sciatica.

My stomach is the only thing which needs to be flattened and rest of the body is almost toned up (.

What do you guys suggest I should do?

Phytolacca Berry OR Nat Phos will be able to get me results. I only want to lose say another 5 Kgs and say 2-3 inches at max from my waist.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Apologies for being impatient. But anyone kind enough to answer :(

Hi I would say since you have
controlled your eating before,
do it again and get a personal trainer
to help you with your abs.

The homeo medicines are really only
for an illness in the body, which it seems
you do not have and the homeo meds
can have side effects. I read one case
of a person using nat phos etc bc she
just wanted to be thinner and nothing
was wrong with her. She took it
quite a lot and it caused major health
problems down the line.

Hi Simone,

Thanks a lot for the reply :)
In India we really don't have good personal trainers. Even though I go to Golds Gym(Renowned Worldwide) but don't have faith in their knowledge. Since I had a history of Sciatica would not want it to resurface.

I was thinking maybe its a problem somewhere in my body because of which I'm unable to lose weight or reduce inches even after exercising everyday. Maybe I'm unable to digest my food quickly or my metabolism rate is slow. I'm just guessing.

All the trainers out here suggest me having protein supplements. I would like to keep away from them as I'm not sure about their side effects. I might live with a bulging stomach than some problem/reaction.

See if you can get some shiatsu type
massage for the sciatica-It has worked
wonders for several relatives who
tried acupuncture, chiropractic and
30 other massage types.

The second thing is can you try some
acupuncture for your digestion ? They
can always tell when things like liver is
overburdened etc etc ( shiatsu people
can tell same thing) guess I am saying
try some chinese medicine for digestion.

Next- try some yoga bc it makes
everything work better in the body-
and I have more relations with flat abs
that were so so into the golds gym etc
but they were bulking up muscles
and actually tightening everything???
which led to more sciatica and stomach issues. Finally got those people to try yoga and they are amazed at how much better their body
is working. They were hard core gym
weight lifters etc.

Get yourself in balance first digestion
wise- which I think chinese medicine can help big time and no side effects- and then do your abs. I don't
think anything wrong with protein powder if it just has vitamins in it.

simone717 last decade
Thanks again for explaining it beautifully. Currently I don't have any sciatic pain for past 2 years after under going physical rehab.

Will try chinese medicine for digestion :)

Yoga is something I always avoided but will give it a try, now that you have mentioned. I seldom do weights in the gym as I don't like having bulky muscles , all I want is to have a lean body which looks good in a photograph (my future wedding, whenever that is)

ravzzy last decade
Yes the yoga really works all the
endocrine glands which run the body,
so it is like a master emotional and
physical tune up if you get a good
teacher who changes things up each
week. I am sure you are going to look
fabulous after you do both these things!!

Best,
Simone

My suggestion would not be to use Nat-phos in such a way. It is not a weight loss remedy, there is no such thing in homoeopathy. Each medicine has a specific picture, consisting of symptoms and feelings and thoughts, which must be matched to the patient in order to cure a disease. It is not possible to sculpt your body using our medicines, despite the claims of the pseudohomoeopaths.

Thanks a lot Simone :) Will try to find a good yoga teacher :) Thanks for your time once again and will keep bugging you in future if I'm in some pain. Although I'm but will create a new thread as its for a different issue altogether :)

Hi David,

Thanks a ton, but just one quick question. have u heard of schwabe phytolacca berry tablets? I do eat my meals and try to keep the carbs out (70% of the times) but do u think schwabe phytolacca berry tablets will help me in providing balanced diet? I did read somewhere in this forum Nat Phos just removed water content from the body which is not what I want. Water is an essential part of ones body. Even Simone mentioned someone had a health problem after taking them…All Im looking for is way to reduce fat.

Ravz

I have actually seen several cases on this forum where using Nat-phos in such a way harmed the person's health. The 'this for that' approach of the pseudohomoeopaths is risky and rarely produces cure of any sort.

I don't really believe that anything apart from diet and exercise will give you a flat stomach. I have worked as a personal trainer, and actually participated in body sculpting, and those were the only things that gave reliable results. Unless you want to count getting some kind of intestinal parasite - that works too lol.

Please don't take that as advice though :)

I don't know enough about herbs to give advice on them. I am a specialist in homoeopathy and it does not work the way herbs do. We do not attempt to enforce particular effects on the body but work with it instead.

Now this isn't to say homoeopathy couldn't help you. I believe the simillimum (perfect remedy) could actually get your body functions working at a higher level, which could help you to lose any unhealthy weight. However the case would need to be taken properly.

I have often found in clinic, that patients on the simillimum will lose around 5kg of fat, if they are overweight at all. I also notice that with increased energy and motivation, and a healthier attitude to food since cravings can be cured, they can lose more weight themselves.

I love Running/exercising and have enough motivation to get my body back in shape as it was before I had sciatica. But hitting the weight loss plateau and being on the same weight for about 3 months is demoralizing, everything gets toned up apart from the stomach is like Arrgghh!!

I do have craving for sweets..Like say if my dad bought me some sweets, I would say to myself once in a blue moon is okay to have, or if my sis is after the packet of chocolates meant for me, would eat them all at once instead of letting her have it.

Simillimum for me would be?
or is that the name of the remedy itself?

Thanks David :)

the simillimum is what they also
call your constitutional remedy-
taking the case with all your physical and mental symptoms and trying to find remedy
that matches that close enough to release your vital force up to where it needs to
be and vital force then clears out everything making you not well. And works on
the mental area first and then physical.

You can have remedies that address a partial simillimum and then need more
remedies bc you really do not have the 'magic bullet'

People also use remedies for acute things that happen like an injury, a bee sting,
etc.

Then there are different ways to prescribe the remedy and take the case which is a lot
of controversy on this forum. Classical homeopaths like David, use one remedy at a time,
and non classical do different things .

Look up Rajan Sankaran in Mumbai- he is very famous and takes cases a very
different way- called the sensation method- You need to read up a bit on homeopathy
to get a sense of what is going on here or read thru some cases on the forum.

Ideal is face to face with the homeopath so they can see you and use ALL THEIR TOOLS>-not do a constitutional remedy online.

ravzzy,

I've also hit weight loss plateaus before. I also eat very healthy and limited carbs. With that and weight lifting, my body would still not get rid of that extra stomach fat. I remember my roomates who ate crap continued to be in better shape, and it was extremely frustrating. So I know EXACTLY how you feel.

To make matters worse, I stupidly made the mistake of going on an extremely low calorie diet that did get rid of the fat, but at the expense of most of my muscle and body mass tissue around the entire body (something I'm still not sure how to fix). After eating normal calories again, I quickly gained back the stomach fat...

For me I still don't know what to do but I've come to a pretty close conclusion I have high cortisol levels and digestion issues...both of which affect weight loss.

If you think you have digestion issues like me, one thing I would look at is Aloe Vera (something I just started taking http://www.naturalnews.com/021858.html). It seems to really help with digestion. I'm buying the plant pure and and cutting open the inner fillet and eating it. You'll want to avoid eating the leaf part as that can cause diarrhea.

A really good protein powder is one that is from raw and grass-fed cows (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWU475/ItemDetail) or raw, grass-fed milk itself. If you are vegan, they make really good brown rice, hemp, and pea proteins aswell.

Dr. Kempson,

Any chance you are willing to look at my case?

Hi Simone,

I have a very dear family friend who practices homeopathy as a hobby. Although all his life he was an Allopathic doctor and has been my child specialist. But didn't want to bug him with my problems. But I do believe meeting him face to face will help me find the remedy which would work for me.

ravzzy last decade
Hi loveandpeace,

For 6 months when I lost my weight and was getting back to shape, I could resist temptation for sweets, but I realised today I can't anymore. I didn't lose my weight with crash diet. My sister did that and she got her weight back from where she started in a months time. Also her crazy idea was to stop drinking water(girl clan's idea) ..don't know where they read that, water is an important part of your body.

How did you find cortisol level? test?

I do have a Aloe Vera plant in my home. Will try that :) and see how it goes. I'm not sure how authentic are the proteins we get in sealed boxes.

I am willing to take on your case, as long as you understand working through a forum like this is a very large obstacle to success. I do get successes here though so it is not impossible.

I will post my intake form.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GIVING YOUR CASE

Go through each problem one at a time giving a full description of what happens, what pains and sensations you get, what makes it worse and what makes it better, the history of the complaint including when it started and what was happening around that time.

Write a separate section for each problem. Cover even the smallest problems you have.

If any of your symptoms occur together, or immediately before or after one another this is important to note as well.

Do not give single word or short sentence descriptions. The more information you give the better I will be able to help.

Do not read up on the remedies and discuss them. Do not attempt to use the Remedy Finder program on this site. Try to keep yourself apart from all the information about remedies on the internet. Such research on your part actually makes it harder to find the right remedy for you not easier.

Whenever you describe a sensation or pain, try to help me to imagine having that same pain. For example, what would have to happen to me to recreate that symptom?

Allow yourself to diverge if you wish. If discussing the problem brings up any emotional or mental issues, then discuss them.

Do not edit your report, except for spelling mistakes. It is important that even if you use the wrong word, you write that. You can correct yourself in the next sentence.

If you have not done this by the time you have covered your problems, discuss the problems you have generally had in your life. What have been the big traumas, the big issues for you? Where have you felt unable to change, where do you get stuck repeating the same behaviours?

Also discuss the issues you might have had in childhood. Talk about your family, your upbringing, your parents. What kind of child were you? What did you fear, what did you aspire to, what do you remember the most?

Lastly talk about the way in which you handle or cope with your problems. What are the patterns that reoccur in your life? How do you find yourself managing your problems, even if it is not successful? To what degree do your problems affect you? How do you think everything will work out in the end for you?

There will almost certainly be more questions from me after this to clarify and to explore further.
General health questions:

1. What foods and drinks do you crave? A craving is not just liking something but a very strong desire that you must fulfill very often.

2. What foods and drinks do you hate?

3. What kinds of weather and temperature are you sensitive to?

4. Is there anything else in the environment you seem more affected by than other people?

5. What times of the day do you feel at your best and your worst?

6. What problems do you have with sleep?

7. What kind of dreams do you have? If you have a reoccurring dream or pattern in your dreams, please describe them.

8. What is your physical energy like? Are particular activities difficult for you?

9. What kinds of medical treatment have you had in the past? Have there been any bad reactions to medicines, including vaccines?

Hi David,

Thank you so much for taking my case. A little background to my case.

It was around 2006 , when I was playing football(soccer) with friends in a ground for fun, a friend of mine challenged me from back and I fell on my back, I couldn't get up and friend helped me back home. For weeks I had lower back ache and it was like my back was stiff and thought to myself it was just a normal lower backache due to my posture. After a month or two, while boarding the bus to college, I couldn't board. I wasn't able to feel my legs and felt an electric current flowing up and down my legs. Told my parents about it, they took me to hospital and the doctor asked me simply to bend forward and to my amaze I couldn't. Doctor diagnosed me with Sciatica. I was referred to one of the best hospitals in the country and they suggested I need to undergo surgery, which made me really depressed and at that particular moment I wished for death, I didn't want to live a life on wheel chair for the rest of my life. I wanted to be a Naval Aviator and that dream was shattered. After taking the second opinion on surgery, underwent physiotherapy at the same hospital. Thanks to the doctor who made me walk again and pain free. But he said I shouldn't join the navy as it would risk my health and sciatica may reoccur. During that period of recovery I had fever which went on for a month and all Blood tests etc showed I was ok, I became really weak and only homeopathy was able to get my fever out of my system.I lost most of my hair as well and still have baldness in back center. After recovering from sciatica I used to hardly walk, ate junk food, no exercise at all. My weight (kg) from mid 60's went to mid 90's in a span of 4-5 years. Last year I started to goto Gym and within 6 months I lost my weight to about 76 kgs. Ran on treadmill for almost an hour everyday and various other exercise. Stopped having sweets and junks/oily stuff. Ate fruits with milk in the morning ,mild lunch, gym at the evening and then mild dinner (no in-between eating). After reaching that point I started eating normal foods and occasional sweets but I'm unable to get rid off the fat from my stomach and my weight has been constant at 79 kgs for last 6 months :( Due to excessive running on treadmill my shin is aching a lot and after taking a break from running, it stopped aching but then when i started to run again within a minute of running it was back. It pains mildly when I' not running but if i touch it, its really painful. Its like someone has punched u on your arm and you get that blue mark and then you touch that blue spot. Thats how I feel it now. Not sure if its the muscle or the bone which is aching. But i believe its the bone which is aching :(

I was born to a Naval officer. So Navy was something I was always fascinated about. I wasn't a naughty or one of the aggressive kids. Was calm and patient till 10th grade. After which I became impatient due to oral fights at home.
I've noted that if like something I cling on it for long. Say if i like drinking coke , i would drink the same and when i leave it , i will leave it completely goes with everything in my life. I'm 25 and going to be 26 this June.

1. What foods and drinks do you crave? A craving is not just liking something but a very strong desire that you must fulfill very often.

Sweets of any form. if there is a sweet which if offered to me, I cant stop myself from not having it.

2. What foods and drinks do you hate?

Capsicum, bitter gourd or anything which is biter in taste.

3. What kinds of weather and temperature are you sensitive to?

Wouldn't say i'm sensitive to any weather/temperature. I prefer temp in the region of 20-25 degree centigrade , which is not really cold or hot.
Don't like hot summers in India, prefer winters more than summers.

4. Is there anything else in the environment you seem more affected by than other people?

I'm allergic to dust and have sinus, so if there is dust in the environment, like someone is cleaning old mats/carpets or some contraction work is going on. I would start to sneeze and it would go on till next day at times and would
have running nose. I do get irritated when i have cold.

5. What times of the day do you feel at your best and your worst?

I love the time after office. Hate getting up in the morning to goto office everyday.

6. What problems do you have with sleep?

I generally don't have an issue with sleep. I sleep around 2am and get up by 8:30am.

7. What kind of dreams do you have? If you have a reoccurring dream or pattern in your dreams, please describe them.

Don't remember them. But don't think they reoccur or have a pattern , i don't remember my dreams after I wake up.

8. What is your physical energy like? Are particular activities difficult for you?

I can run/jog for an hour and cycle for an hour as well. I'm pretty much fit, but due to sciatica I cant bend forward. So any activities which require forward bending, i cant perform.

9. What kinds of medical treatment have you had in the past? Have there been any bad reactions to medicines, including vaccines?

Convulsions after severe fever when infant, Chickenpox, tonsillitis 1992, mumps, fractured both big toes 1999, sciatica L4/L5 2007. Heart murmur detected in 1991 became OK on its own without medication, sinus and I'm allergic to brufin medicine(my eyes turned blue) and dust(sneezing).

10. Sleep- which position is adopted in sleep, sleeping time –going to sleep, any salivation during sleep, talking during sleep, teeth grinding, walking during sleep.

Position: on the stomach
Sleeping Time: Weekdays 2 am - 8:30 am
Weekends 3 am - 2 pm
Salivation: Only when very tired, say once/ twice a year.
Talking during sleep: Maybe once/ twice in lifetime.
Teeth grinding: Never.
Sleep walking: Never.

11. Fears- if any from animals, insects or being alone or in the darkness, of robbers, of thieves, being pursued, or any infections.

Alone in the darkness.

12. Temperament- anger, contradiction reaction, during anger any violence likes throwing things, or shouting, abusing, beating like.

Slight anger but no violence/ throwing things.

Hi Ravzzy and David,
this thread is messed up- Love and Peace
got on your thread Ravzzy and
asked David to take his case. so then
Ravzzy you think David is responding to you. He is responding to Love and Peace.

Love and Peace has another thread
about his eye injury. I am going to
post to Love and Peace and tell him
to make a new thread and new title
for David and copy the intake form
for David on that thread.

Ravzzy, don't know what you and
David want to do about this one-
if Ravzzy wants to talk to your
homeopath friend etc and use
the Arnica on your shin bc you can
only take one remedy at a time
when a constitutional case is being
taken.

simone717 last decade
Hi Simone,

Oh sorry for messing it up. Didn't realize it was for love and peace ..David can take love and peace's case. I will try Arnica for my injury :)

Regards,
Ravz

ravzzy last decade
Hi- it is just bc both of you are new
on the forum. People post on each
others threads, but people usually do
not ask for a homeopath's advice
on someone elses thread bc you
have to have your own thread for
prescriptions and advice. I have made
same mistake when I first got on
the forum.

Best,
Simone

simone717 last decade
Oh sorry, yeah I'll stop posting/requesting on this thread.

loveandpeace last decade
Ravz I am happy to take your case too. I will take Loveandpeace's case no doubt, on another thread :)

So answer the questions if you wish and I will see what comes out of them.
