anxiety, depression case

can you please help me with a friend of mine...
here are the details...

40 year old man, originally from Macedonia but residing in Australia for 18 years. 5'6' tall, medium build, dark hair and complexion.
married with 2 teenage children.

Appears calm.
Difficulty explaining what he is feeling lately other than that he had 'fright' in his abdomen and that he found it uncomfortable to sit still

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi- is he willing to give his case on here?

bc he would really need to fill out a form
check out the questions from Nawaz
and then you could repost with a
new title and someone would take
his case and work with him.

questions need to be asked of him
after he takes remedy and so on
and they won't be accurate coming
from you.

Ah that is an entirely different matter. I have actually taught homoeopathic case-taking and materia medica at a college level, so perhaps I can be of some help.

There are a few areas that need to be clarified here.

What exactly does 'fright' in the stomach feel like? If he cannot do this, what does he mean by 'fright' exactly? What kind of fright?

What kind of death does he fear? How would he die indoors? How would he die if alone?

What kind of constriction does he get in his throat? Does loose stool always come with the fear and constriction?

What is this feeling around not wanting to do anything? What exactly is he experiencing? Why does he not want to do things?

What was the experience of being 'shocked and scared' when the police came?

So many people dying in a short space of time is highly unusual. What was his feeling around this? How did it affect him? What is his feeling about his father's death? Remember it is not enough to observe - you have seen something important I think in his lack of reaction. But what is his experience of it?

Fear is a major theme here. That fear needs to be defined as precisely as possible, so you can get to the right remedy to match it. What kind of fear is it? How does he react to fear? How does he cope with fear (miasm)?

So far the seperate elements of his fear are:

Visitors
Telephone rings
Indoors
Not getting better
Fainting
Falling over
Police (possibly just situational and understandable)

What threads all these things together - it might be an underlying fear, it might be the way he deals with his fear, it might be the way he manages the fear?

These symptoms will all hint at a state, but at this stage it is hard to tell what his state is - shock, fear, scare, fright. Lots of remedies can cover it.

Thanks David for your reply,

I should admit that is a case given to me by my lecturer. I cant get anymore information, this is all I have to work with and I have to come up with the remedy.

Yes it is more complex than it appears- I have considered suppressed grief, fears etc...but I can only speculate
I think because everyone seems to be dying around him he is fearful of something happening to him, fearful of more bad news and he is not facing/dealing with grief. Perhaps A/F shock.

Just exploring it and thought I would post it up here for direction,
thankyou for contributing

am I off track thinking ars alb

anyone have any remedy suggestions???

really- you should have been
upfront in the first place and people
could have guessed if they felt like it.

Otherwise healers on here could
have spent time they don't have
doing your homework thinking they
are helping a real person.

this is a real person the class is trying to help and yes probs should of just said that. i have already done my 'homework' i just wanted to get a second opinion.
there is no need for you to be wasting your time writing at all.

Well your lecturer has not given a complete case. That makes it quite difficult. He may have abbreviated the case somewhat, and removed things that would be better to leave in.

It is important to NEVER speculate about what lies under a symptom. Only the patient knows that. Guessing is a sure way to fail in homoeopathy, as it will be coming from your state not his. Anything you don't know for certain, should not be used in the analysis.

If you are in first year, they are probably just teaching you repertory work, not trying to get you to perceive the totality. Anyone can just do a simple repertory analysis - is that what they are expecting from you?

Even with a partial and superficial case like this, it is important to prioritize the symptoms. Some of these things are peculiar, although they may not be the actual symptom (because a deeper one exists). But we will have to assume, as an exercise, this is all there is.

Fear of the telephone ringing

-Nat-phos, Visc - 2 remedies makes that a stange symptom, although as I said before it might not be the real fear (could be connected to visitors)

Fear when indoors (would be so much better to know what exactly it is about indoors that worries him - is it just in his home, or is it in any building?) - without knowing what this is about I think using it would be a guess.

Fear with constriction of throat - Aconite, Hep, Ign, Ip, Lyss, Phos, Stram

Fear of falling down has lots of remedis - Lac-caninum is an interesting one. It may have some of those fears. Phos, Gels, Lyc - I am so used to working with the state behind the symptoms I really don't know how to go much further without being able to dig deeper.
