Homeopaths - lay or professional

Hello all I was just wondering how many people here on the board are professional homeopaths? I read a lot of really good post but at times I also read a lot of people posting remedies with very little symptoms?? According to Dr Hahenmann this is the oppisite of what you want to do! He said you don't want to work from the disease in but from in to the disease. Basically not label the disease and treat accordingly. I think it helps what diagnose you have gotten but then one should ask more symptoms to go by. Not give remedies right away.

Also I was just wondering for the people who are prof. homeopaths how many are in the US. Im also in the US and I would love for homeopathy to be at the point where it was in the 1900's but I know this wont happen anytime soon! I just like to know how you practice here in the states aswell?
Thanks!!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
As a semi retired homeopath I learned my craft the hard way by using Keynotes.

That was before the days of computers.

I now see people post a list of possible remedies as long as your arm. Which they have churned out of a computer.

I believe you need more than a computer program to treat people.

I have the greatest admiration for the works of Prof J.T . Kent and C. Dunham ( who incidentally knew all about the Doctrine of Signatures)

But god help anyone who practices in the US .. they have to tug the forelock to the AMA... who make sure that homeopathy does not prosper in the US.

:) Keynotes, wow! As you say now a days people have the reperotry of their liking online! Its nice but then I think it can make the person lazy and prevent them from studing either one...materia medica and or the reperotry.

I personally have used homeopathy for years (since childhood) my parents and grandparents used it. Although none of them practiced it. Im in a particular situation. Im a premedical student. Im trying to go into osteopathic medicine. In the US DO's are equvilent to and MD. Unlike other countries. Anyway...I would like to learn homeopathy to become very knowledgeable one it...to the point of taking cases etc etc. Some friends of mine (MD's ) just listen when I talk about homeopathy. They don't comment about it but I know they do not agree. They are doing their residency right now and are around a lot of people who just b/c their profesion look at homeopathy as unscientific! Im trying to convince them! :)Yes unfort. the AMA here in the US is strong. Being a homeopath here is hard. Although slowly I think they are studying it. Maybe maybe...we might get a chance sometime in the near future!?? :) Not like what it was but just that homeopathy is recognized by the AMA as a real school of medicine and the people out there would be great!

Anyway...I like to hear background of homeopaths on this board so please reply. Since I've found this board I have used it a lot. Very resourcefull! Thanks!

COMPUTER is a great help in selection of a remedy.my relative was admitted in emergency in very bad condition and was diagnosed encephalepathy.this is a degenerative disease of the brain.in classic software there is an option search materia medica the only remedy was plumbum met written in meteria medica.while in any repertory i did not found.the remedy cured the patient.and never admitted in the hospital again. i dont thing that we must not prescribe on pathology.in abrotanum angioma of the face is given and i know many persons who were given this remedy on pathology and are cured.to prescribe on the totatality of symptoms is one of the method not the only one.you must have studied kent i can point out where he prescribed only on one symptom and many other old master followed.wi tholkas is a great living physician he is against combination remedies but once his dog was ill he gave combined remedies some one asked him why he did that he said it was my dog.basic law is single remedy i am in favour of this but when the patient dont tell the details which he should we are forced to give him more than one remedy.

No certification is needed to practice Homeopathy in USA. Few states has formed some licansing procedures but no homeopathy degree is required. USA board of homeopathy has recogonised the fact that homeopathy comes by the experience not by education.

Kuldeep, Yes I know that. I have investigated the practice of homeopathy in the US fairly well. You don't need a degree of any form but in order to practice at least in Texas you have to practice under an MD or DO. I personally believe that even though homeopathy comes by experience their should be a set standard of education and maybe licensing? I think as a homeopath you should also take interest in anything that deals with the body. Try to learn as much as you can about the "medical world" So yes I think in order to practice homeopathy here you should have knowledge of certain subjects. As you and I have read in books...homeopathy can be good but then it can also aggrevate symtoms. At times can harm the patient if you have not selected the right medicine/potency. The FDA here in the states have recognized homeopathic medicine as over the counter medicines. Although they don't have to follow the same guidlines as allopathic OTC drugs. Anyway my .2 x cents :)
