Help for post herpes neuralgia
Dear friends,I am looking for help for my 77 year old mother who is suffering from phn. Original shingles outbreak - february 20, 2012 on outer side of right arm - from shoulder to palm. Worst blister - on palm beneath the thumb. Severe rush healed in 2-3 weeks and then started burning, numbness, sharp like knife cutting pain, pins and needles, extremely sensitive to touch. These symptoms appear where the rush was, especially affected is the thumb, feeling that the skin on the palm is to tight, and does not allow moving. Feels like the arm is not part of her body.
The symptoms get worse after noon,able to sleep in night. Symptoms almost disappear when she holds her arm under warm running water but resume right after that. Cold on arm is not tolerated at all. Symptoms lessen if the arm is in rest and and has a lidoderm patch on it. My mom uses one and the same patch for several times, so I am not sure whether the medication or just the presence of the patch helps, she usually hold the thumb with the other hand and it also helps. She thinks she is punished by God with this illness, has had no pain like this before. Thinks shingles changed her life, made her feel and look much older. Accepts it as something she has to live with, feels afraid it will never end. Medications taken: Valaciclovir - 3 pills 1000mg a day for a week. Vit b12 - 1000, seven injections, vit c. For neuralgia - Gabapentin 3 x 300 mg a day,presently taking St John Wort 6 pills a day, Ginco Biloba, 2 aday, L-Lysine 2 pilss 1000 mg a day, vit B-100 two a day, Vit C 1500 a day, vit D 1000, vit E, Artichoke - 2, 3 pills a day, aspirin, Aleeve, Vicodine when for pain. Avoids Gabapentin - makes hel sleepy. Homeopathy - Arnica 30c for faster healing of the rush - several times a day for a week, after that Mezereum 6c for the phn but no relief. She does not like heat, prefers cool surrounding, prefers salty foods, resides in Bulgaria, temporarily in Washington DC,/. She was under stress and pressure right before shingles started in February, the same arm had been broken 3 years before that, shingles started with pain in the arm which lasted for two weeks and the rush started . When the rush was almost gone and no much pain she took a transatlantic flight from Europe to USA, and then she suffered a head trauma on board of plane - a carry on fell from overhead compartment over her head, the symptoms worsen after that. I noticed some clumsiness when she moves, she has had ringing in the ears for years, worsen after the incident.Recently she had three spinal adjustments, 2 acupuncture sessions, which helped a little. B/P 106/60, taking Concore 2.5 mg a day for fast pulse, pre-diabetic, some thyroid problems - elevated THS - 7, elevated cholesterol 256 total, 165 LDL, HDL 42, normal triglycerides, hip problem, one leg is slightly shorter than the other. Over all is grateful that is alive and more or less healthy, does not complain, except for the phn in the arm. Likes to read about almost everything - from recepies and news to astrology, watch several TV programs at the same time, not to miss favorite programs, sociable and friendly. Retired, used to work as a teacher and then accountant, married, husband 82 years, very proud with family, children and grandchildren. 1.50 m tall, 71 kg. very concerned about the fat on the belly, trying different things but not able to get rid of the fat there, usually constipated, had had hemorrhoids but no longer. Likes iced water. Had her left ankle twisted three years ago, severe problem walking, not such a problem now. I really hope and want to help her. Please help. Thank you !

Please give her Ranunculus Bulbosus 30 in the morning and evening for 3 days and see how that affects.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 2 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.
Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

I would like to report the results. During the first two days when my mom started taking the medicine the symptoms of burning, sharp knife cutting pain, super sensitivity increased. She noticed another symptom - pinching. All these are located in the right arm - the upper and lower sides of the palm, the thumb being especially painful and sensitive. The symptoms were felt even in rest position, she had to hold the thumb, the most sensitive part, with the other hand and that gave some relief.
On the third day she noticed an improvement, no pinching, less burning and less sharp pain. She feels optimistic about the outcome.
Please advise what we should next.

There is no need to give her any remedy for at least a week. She may be given the remedy for one day if she has a relapse after seven days.
