Miasms?

How can miasms effect sexuality, personality, and overall mental health? Also do miasms play a role in physical appearance; I read different shaped nostrils etc. can be a sign of miasmatic illness. I am curious as I have ADD, Depression, Bipolar NOS, Chronic Fatigue, and General Anxiety with muscle tension.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Also if anyone can recommend some literature on miasms and homeopathy, I would be very interested. As well as 'naturopathic'(herbal) remedies.

I will be going to college to become a psychiatric NP, minoring in neurology. I will also be getting my credentials in homeopathy, nutrition, and 'naturopathic' medicine

I have a whole theory about the role of genetics, miasms, and trauma; the role they play in mental illness. Utilizing the science of neuroplasticity (CBT Meditation), nutrition, homeopathy, herbal medicine, and, pharmaceutical medication (when necessary); I hope to find a holistic approach to help individuals cure their ailments and rewire their brains.

Any and all input will be appreciated. Thanks.

The theory of miasms is a complex one, and is woven into the fabric of homoeopathic philosophy. I don't think anyone here could give you anywhere near enough to explain it, as it takes years for students to grasp it.

In essence, the miasm is the reoccurring pattern your diseases take over your life. No matter what form, what specific disease, it will always have particular characteristics. It can usually only clearly be seen by examining all the different health problems that the person has had over their lifetime. The symptoms will change, but there will be commonalities. These commonalities form the shape of the miasm.

However the miasm is more insidious than that. Not only does it influence what form your disease takes, but it constantly recreates diseases over and over until you die. It is the power behind all chronic ill health.

One way to think about miasm is to see each problem in two parts - the actual symptoms you have, and the way you manage or react to the symptoms (which points to the miasm). The miasm channels or funnels the symptoms into specific forms.

So yes, the miasm can influence the shape of the body amongst other things. This does not make those body changes disease necessarily, and it does not mean they will ever change back.

Thanks for the input. It has helped reaffirm and expand my understanding miasms. Do you have any literature you would recommend? I'm interested in better understanding the fundamentals as well as case notes. In my opinion it is wise to learn from others experiences prior to treating ones self.
