Patches on the joints

My daughter was originally diagnosed with "Chemically induced Vitiligo" by a dermatologist (which I did not agree with but then he was the doctor, who I fired after he asked that she take sterioids) at the age of 10. we have tried MANY cures and been disappointed by so many "claims to have the solution" but none have really worked. She has patches on her joints on hands and legs, around the ears, mouth, in fact parts where the skin would normally wear due to movement. Western Doctors have alreay said there is no cure and we should consider tatooing, but she since she is only 14 we thought we would wait awhile. It has effected her charater and moods and we are desparate for any advice, help that we can get, but even on this website there is many, many potential solutions, but each will take so long to have an impact, where do you start? Is homeopathy the way to go ?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Are the patches white -- or some color. Vitiligo is normally white.

If the patches were "wine" color then there may be an option , Vitiligo is more difficult.

They are definitely white..but sometimes after going in the sun, nothing more, they do go slightly reddish, and in some cases get back their brown colour (my daughter is half indian and half British). But they do return. The one's that go brown the quickest are above her eye lids and under her nose. The one's on her legs which seem more difficult to get any sort of change in them.
