Seborrheic Dermatitis on Face

Please help me. I've been suffering from this facial dermatitis for a few years now. The only thing that has maybe (and i'm not sure it isn't a coincidence) has been not taking birth control pills, which isn't really an option right now. The symptoms came on suddenly a few years ago and they are embarrassing and uncomfortable. If homeopathics could help me control these symptoms, i'd be so grateful. So far, going through different exclusion diets (gluten, milk, sugar, wheat) hasn't worked.

It can be difficult to see the dermatitis on the picture, the bumps are so tiny that it may just look like uneven skin tone/texture.

Patient ID: Sex:Female Age:27

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering?

Itchy flesh/pink bumps on face around nose, nostrils, mouth and on chin. The skin is itchy the day before you start to see the bumps, then the skin feels thick and the bumps start to appear, sometimes the eyelids become swollen. Then the skin weeps slightly before drying out. Then the skin becomes flaky as it heals. This problem began approximately 2 years ago. I've been taking birth control pills since I was 15. The type of pill hasn't changed in 3.5 years.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome - constipation type with episodes of cramping and diarrhea.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Embarrassment, anxiety, sadness

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

Itchy, painful, anxious, sad

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

The IBS began at 15 years old when my boyfriend at the time left the state where I was living. The dermatitis began approximately around the time a 2 year relationship ended. I stopped birth control for approximately 4 months and the dermatitis got better, but now being off it is not an option as I'm seeing someone again.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

Afternoon

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?

Sweating and eat aggravate. Nothing seems to ameliorate the dermatitis. Magnesium supplements seem to help the IBS some.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

I thought that the dermatitis had to do with living in a warm and humid climate like Miami, FL, but since moving to a dry heat environment and now having a flare up, i'm not sure. It may have to do with hormones since my symptoms seem to get better when I was not using birth control pills.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

Cold. I'm not sure about dry vs humid, neither seem to be great.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

I'm quiet, jealous, caring, empathic, lazy, easily offended, stubborn, overly obliging, smart, funny

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?

I like thunderstorms.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?

yes

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?

Yes

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?

nail biting, chewing on the inside of my mouth, talk to myself

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

I feel like I put more energy into relationships than my friends. I find my family extremely caring and supportive, but they are know it alls and can be really annoying. I'm not married and don't have children.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I develop physical discomfort when I think of injury or surgery that involves blood, cutting, tearing etc. Scared of needles. Scared of spiders. I dream of being chased and having people tell me that they don't care about me.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I crave peanut butter and bananas, bready type carbs, and sugars (esp chocolate).

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?

normal

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

normal - excessive usually. The last month I started a new job and it's been less than usual.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Highly spicy

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
I use a clinical strength antiperspirant because i'm embarrassed by any type of sweat. When I don't use it I probably sweat a normal amount, mostly in my armpits. When I exercise I sweat on my head and trunk mostly.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
I tend to be constipated and then go through moments of cramping and diarrhea.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I fall asleep fairly easily usually. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep. Sometimes I wake up early and can't fall back to sleep. I fall asleep best on my stomach, but I wake up on my back usually.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
Sometimes it is difficult to climax even if I'm excited. I usually attribute it to nerves.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?
I think i'm more anxious than other people.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
I've been taking a low dose birth control (ortho-tricylen lo, then nuvaring). I used an antifungal cream and hydrocortisone cream for the dermatitis, no effect.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
High blood pressure and cholestrol

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance
5'3'', chin length brown hair (dyed reddish brown), hazel eyes, caucasian, slim build. Not toned muscles, but still slim. Slightly wider hips.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

Please answer the following questions:
(Please give details of your past menstruation if you have attained menopause.)
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
With birth control they are regular and approx 4 days. Without they are regular within +/- 3 days and last 6-7 days.

- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?
No
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?
Usually light
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?
thick bright red or brown/drier looking

- Do you notice any clots in the flow?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I've thought more about the temperature question...the dermatitis feels better under hot or cold water, feels worse when its dry. Feels worse outside in the heat.

I'm sensitive to temperatures in general. I get cold easily, with a breeze in warm weather, and high heat is extremely uncomfortable as well.

Also when I have eyelid symptoms, those are the worst in the morning and usually decrease in size during the day.

I am the normal amount of thirsty for me, but I never am thirsty enough to drink the daily recommended amount of water.

I attached another picture that I think gives a better idea of what its like.

Please take three doses of Lycopodium 200 as follows and see how that affects in next 15 days (only 3 doses in 15 days).

day 1 morning
1st dose

day 1 evening
2nd dose

day 2 morning
3rd dose

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 2 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Ok, thank you! I will try this. What should I except? Will my symptoms go away for good or this the cycle every time they come back? I really appreciate your help. I will update you in 15 days.

You should feel overall improvement, may feel better at mental level, digestion may also improve.

I finished the 3 doses yesterday morning. The dermatitis seemed to be
healing/drying out better than it usually does, but this morning the rash came back around my nose, on my lips, and on my chin. I realized after the fact that I consumed a little raw onion inside a burrito last night. Did I negate the lycopodium? Or will it get worse before it gets better over the 15 days? The dermatitis is my main concern, I want it to go away completely. What should I do? Let it be? Take the lycopodium again?

Through this process should I except the dermatitis to go away completely, for good? or will I need to keep treating with lycopodium for each flare up?

I appreciate your help kadwa.

Please wait and watch for 15 days. Onion won't affect working of Lycopodium. You should also watch whether some specific food items cause flare up of dermatitis.

Update: i had flare ups pretty much te entire 15 days, by day 15 it was pretty much healed. Today, a week later, I'm seeing the tiny bumps forming around my nose and the swelling at the base of my nostrils which tells me I'm getting another flare up. I had changed my skin care routine to be much more gentle from the suggestion of a cosmetologist which seems to help heal it at first, also I've been taking vitamin supplements: vitamin D3, vitamin B, MSM, vitamin C, omega 3, Borage or black current seed oil, calcium/magnesium, and chlorella.

My boyfriend is now in town and I'm so scared that I'm going to look as diseased as I did before.

Please take a single dose of Lycopodium 200 and report back after 15 days.
