Newborn stuffed nose (from birth)

My son is 5 weeks old. He was born with a stuffy nose. We have used an aspirator when anything comes to the surface that we can see to extract out. Is there a homeopathic remedy we can use to help. He fusses at night but I'd like to see if he would sleep longer at night if he was not bothered by his stuffed nose. It doesn't bother him during the day, just at night. The season is changing and the air is dry. We are not using a heater (yet) or air conditioning at night. He seems to really struggle until I get him upright and into some cooler room in the house to breastfeed. Once he has fed he is fine. But definitely something obstructing his passage way since birth, we do think it's mucous it is just not visible.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
This may or may not help, but it is possible he is dairy/lactose intolerant, the symptoms you described are exactly what my son had and once he was on lactose free formula he was 100% better. Perhaps try changing your diet for a few weeks (I have been told it takes 10-14 days for dairy to be removed from the breast milk)

I agree with Amy that it could be lactose intolerant.

However, in any case, your son will benefit by giving him one dose of Lycopodium 6 - only one time, you never have to repeat this.

1 dose is 1 pellet dissolved in 1 spoon full of water and given 1/2 teaspoon on his mouth. It is better to give this in the evening.

Please reply back on the 2nd or 3rd day promptly.

Thank you for your reply Amy and Reva. I went to the only place I know to buy Lycopodium 6 and they only had it as 30c. I didn't buy it. I will have to order the 6 online.

In the meantime I have cut out dairy from my diet. It is harder than I thought. Now, I crave milk! :)

I will post a reply when I have given my son the recommended dose by Reva. Thank you kindly.

I am sorry that you could not find Lyco 6. 30 is good and you can buy Lyco 30, if 6 is not available. Only one dose is enough.

Reva, what is the Lycopodium for?

HayLeol last decade
Lycopodium helps to open up stuffed nose, of all ages, including new born. One dose is sufficient.

Reva,

I am sorry for the delay. It took me a few days to get back to the store to buy Lycopodium 30. I gave to my son in the evening. I waited three nights to see. His stuffiness does seem much better but has not gone completely away, but there is a greater difference.

If some stuffiness is still present, you can give one more dose of this medicine in the night.

Save this medicine for future use, for all ages (including other family members)

I wanted to give an update. My son is now 3 1/2 months old and it is very evident that it IS dairy/lactose intolerance. I saw within 3 days an immediate difference, and then as I continuously cut out all dairy he now sleeps comfortably and can breathe. If I've been served something or take a bite of something before I realise it has some milk product in it, I give him the Lycopodium to help relieve him of any stuffiness.

I am grateful for Amy's first reply and for bringing this easy resolution to my attention. Thank you so much.

Thank you Reva also.

Warmly,
Hayley

To improve the baby's digestion for milk, I will give a simple measure. Please try this sincerely and write back after a month. As you could realize, avoiding milk is only a work around and not the solution to the problem.

Buy Ajwain Seed from a local Indian Grocery shop. If you still breast feed, I strongly recommend YOU to drink only ajwain water all day for the next 40+ days. This is a common practice in India to give this to the new mother and the children is protected from all digestive disorders.

Add 1 teaspoon full to 3 cups of water (in this ratio) and boil it for 5 minutes and simmer for 10 minutes. Drink this water when ever you are thirst. Prepare more based on your need. If it is too strong, add water. Drink warm only (store in thermos flask) You will see a tremendous benefit in both your health and the baby's.

If you are not breast feeding, you can give this water to the baby, one spoon in the morning and one spoon in the evening.

This is a proven for centuries and hence please dont ignore this. If you have any question, please write to me. I spent a the last few month in finding the benefit of ajwain on elders and found it clears the microbes and even heavy metals from the body. You cant match this benefit with any other medicine, in the most natural way.

With Prayers,
Reva V

I wanted to let you know that I have finally located this. However, it is called Ajawain Seed (Bishop Weed Seeds), from a local Indian store. I am going to assume it is the right thing.

Thank you for the advice and the measurements. I plan to begin and will report back.

Here is an update.

While I cut out all dairy, especially when drinking the Ajwain Seed, my son's stuffiness was waking him in the early hours because he was unable to breathe. I couldn't understand it. I was having no dairy, and no dairy products, and no products with dairy in it. The Ajwain Seed did not help at all.

A friend mentioned to me a theory; perhaps it was my stomach acid out of balance, and taking a vitamin supplement Betain HCL could help.

I pondered this theory, and after some research, I decided to try the Betain HCL because this would mean my son is not dairy/lactose intolerant, but in fact was reacting to my stomach acid.

I began taking Betain HCL and within a couple of days I noticed a great difference. His stuffiness was not a dry stuffiness but it was now wet. I wasn't too excited as I wasn't sure what the continued results would be.

I have been taking it now for almost three weeks and his stuffiness is completely gone. This is the first time in his little life. When I eliminated all dairy previously, his stuffiness would subside but never would it be completely gone.

I do believe it is my stomach acid that has been causing this, and now he is doing just swell.
