Underarm lump and deodorant

I have a lump under my right arm, and I am wondering if this can be from my deodorant (which I was just thinking about changing to a different deodorant). Can this be a cause???

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Get deodorant - not anti-perspirant as stopped perspiration can cause probblems. But I can't tell if your lump has been caused by your deodorant-even if it is antipersp.

Were you using that deod. when it was formed? is it changing in shape/color/size - when you stop usng that deod.?
It could be totally harmless lipoma it could be something more serious. You have to watch for changes.

Yes, I was using this deodorant when it appeared. At first I thought might be a large pimple/boil. It's just red/sore, that's it. Very small, but it hurts. Had also considered switching deodorants, and now, I guess I will.

Is it changing at all? When you are not using anything is it better?
Does it seem deep or limited to skin (moves with skin)?
is it like a large boil that doesn't come to a head?

I have reported my discovery of the best Deoderant in the world many times on this forum.

I use Johsons Baby Shampoo on my hair and discovered many years ago that it was the ultimate deoderant when a few drops are used under the arms.

I do hope that all who read this post will please avoid the anxiety and pain the Laleise is now suffering from the lump in her armpit.

Johnsons Baby shampoo works by not permitting the bacteria to form which are the real cause of the unpleasant smell of stale perspiration. You will never want another underarm product if you use this shampoo on your hair and under your arms.

May be a blocked hair follicle, now infected. Hepar Sul. or Silicea will help in that case.

You had better make sure that this lump isn't a reaction to parabens in the deoderant.
Parabens are nasty preservatives that have been found in many biopsys of cancerous tumors. Your body can't excrete then and they wind up just accumulating in your cells.
I wouldn't recomends using a shampoo like Johnsons and Johnsons either. Their products are aweful usually made with petroleum or petrolatum, which is really bad for your skin, petroleum products are not natural and your skin can't excret them will. Petroleum isn't a breathable substance to be rubbing on your pores. Not only that JOhnson and Johnson uses alot of Sodium laurel and laureth sulfates which are harsh cleansers.
Try products like 'kiss my face, or avalon' they are free of nasty ingredients, and are extremely good products that won't harm you.

I can go on and on about this stuff....taking little pills aren't the end all to healing....you must be aware of your enviorment and what you are eating, products you use, etc.

I would like to note below the ingredients that are used in Jonsons Baby Shampoo.

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Yellow 10 and Orange 4.

I am no chemist and am not aware of whether or not the chemicals used in this shampoo can harm the underarm skin. However the fact that it can be used for babies when bathing and does not irritate the eyes is proof that it can be accepted as being absolutely safe to be used under the arms. I believe that it works by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria that react with the perspiration to create that unpleasant odour.

I have used this shampoo for the last 40 years on my hair and it was only after I used it experimentally under my arms that I discovered that it was by far the best Under arm Deoderant.

Sodium chloride
Water
PEG-150 distearate
Polysorbate 80
Sodium trideceth sulfate
Sodium lauroamphoacetate
Sodium Laureth-13 carboxylate
Cocoamidopropylbetaine
These are the ingredients in johnsons and johnsons baby bath original. Not in any specific order.
I looked up many of these ingredients and one of which breaks down in heat and can be toxic.
However....my point being is much of these ingredients are manufactured and not only are all these artificial colors and preservatives no good for you they are not good for the enviorment. There is not enough room for me to go into details about toxicology and enviormental impact, but just by researching individual ingredients you will come across toxicology references and virtual libraries of information.
However, I WOULD NOT SUGGEST TO SOMEONE TO PUT A PRODUCT FULL OF ARTIFICIAL* PRESERVATIVES* UNDER THIER ARMPIT. ARTIFICIAL COLORS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER.
If this person needs to use a deoderant they should use something that is orgainic and doesn't contain harmful preservatives and colors.
They should seek medical attention*....and nutritional care from a HOLLISTIC MD.
Homeopathy is nice and has some benifits but I think some people are too sucked in to the sensationalism. Always be skeptical and do your homework.
I have had some nice experiences with homeopathy but I find that you must still keep questioning...EVERYTHING.
I just don't 'buy the whole bag' so to speak, you cannot make too much fact out of the descriptions of symptoms that I have seen.

I use deoderants from health food shops that have no alluminium . I heard on the Radio a time ago that there maybe a link. That was enough for me. Yes, parabens are a nono.
There are loads of cosmetics , shampoos etc, in the health food stores that don't sell products with parabens.
Check the ingredients and give your body a nice break from the nasties.
Wish the big comapines wake up to this.

I was interested in your post and note that according to you one of the ingredients used in Johnsons Shampoo can be considered as toxic if subjected to heat. I presume that your intent is to warn people not to use this shampoo as a deodorant as according to you, it can prove dangerous.

I cannot understand the reason for the warning that you seek to send those who may use Jonhsons Baby Shampoo under the arms as it is obvious that the mere fact that it has been used for the last 40 years as the ultimate Baby Shampoo which as you know does not irritate the tender eyes of a baby, is in itself proof that it is very safe to be used on the skin under the arms of an adult, which in any case is washed off in a few minutes after it is massaged into the armpit during a bath.

My advice was to use it in instead of soap which is the reason for the propagation of the bacteria which break down the perspiration causing the unpleasant smell which is popularly referred to as BO. I believe that it is the Alkali used in the soap that promotes the growth of the bacteria while the chemicals used in Johnsons shampoo ensure that the bacteria are prevented from multiplying as they would on the skin when lathered with soap.

I also note your comments about Homeopathy which I copy below:

"Homeopathy is nice and has some benifits but I think some people are too sucked in to the sensationalism. Always be skeptical and do your homework.

I would like to emphasize that my report of my discovery of Johnsons Baby Shampoo on this Homeopathic Forum has nothing to do with Homeopathy whatever and the reason I mentioned it on this thread was due to mention of a Lump in Laleise's armpit which may have been caused by the deoderant that she may have used in the past.

My sole intention was to provide readers with information of a safer alternative to the standard deoderants that are marketed which only serve to mask the unpleasant smell of BO with another considered to be more acceptable. Other types like the roll on stick types are perhaps more dangerous as they block the pores and can cause the lump that started this thread.

I would also like to add that there is no need to question the efficacy of Homeopathy as it was proved 200 years ago by Hahnemann and it is up to us to ensure that the progress of this science is continued by all of us who use and prescribe it today, by recording our 'discoveries' in the use of remedies for ailments that are not listed in the classical texts, like my 'discovery' of Nat Phos 6x for weight reduction.

Whatever your reasons for this Jonhsons Baby Shampoo rave of yours'....
Your advice or beliefs are obvious to me not the kind you'd get from actual knowledge. The smell from persperation may have to do with a little more than just the bacteria in the armpit. If you think your only washing away bad bacteria and not good bacteria at the same time, you are mistaken. You'd be washing away nearly all of the bacteria.
As for my comment about homeopathy...it was a general comment, not directed at your post in particular.
As far as your emphasis....or your so called discovery.....I think you should go to school and learn something before you start giving people medical advice, even for something like a lump in the armpit. You don't know much about what you speak.
As far as your remark....200 years ago they did not have the resources or the knowledge that we have today to study these remedies and much of which as far as thier description of symptoms, they made alot of guesses as to what the final diagnosis was.
The point I'm trying to make is that even though homeopathy can be useful to an extent, if you have a lump anywhere on your body don't just rely on a homeopathic cure or homeopathic advice. Make sure you excercise all your options/information available to you, that includes modern medicine, and do your homework before you settle on a treatment or therapy. There are options available....but it is most important that you be aware of ALL your options....and EDUCATE YOURSELF.

Deodorant issue:
Nature's Sunshine has an enzyme spray that can be used with a crystal stick. Crystal stick can be found at most health food stores.
