constitutional remedy

hello again,
can someone explain to me the concept of ''constitutional remedy''? my therapist said she thinks my constitutional remedy is phosphorus, and i was a bit better while taking it, but after few weeks i felt the same way as before, which is bad and anxious, and now im taking argentum nitricum.

thanks,

c

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Constitutional rememdies work long term. Homeopathy seems to work best by determining whether the symptoms are acute (ie. banging your knee on a table, or ONE wart on arm) or "constitutional" (ie. chronic headaches, warts that spread on hands or feet). I have two children that I use different rememdies with, depending on their needs. Sometimes they need constitutional help, and sometimes they need acute help.

And, we are like onions - we have many layers. Homeopathy works on layers. It works best to treat the most recent symptoms first and work backwards (peel away the layers)- while at the same time looking at all the other similarities and symptoms (ie. how do you sleep? right, left, on back? On right side of bed? Do you like salty, or sweet foods? Careful person or spontaneous?, etc...)

For instance, my son's constitutional remedies are either pulsatilla or lycopodium, depending on whether he's more clingy or stubborn and unreasonable with loud exclamations.
But when I was potty training with him, he was having a hard time remembering going to the bathroom, so gave him two treatments of causticum 30c, and that ended his missing the toilet or wetting the bed. Now he doesn't wet the bed ever, but every once in a while he doesn't make it to the toilet, and when that happens a couple of times in a row, I give him one dose of causticum 30c and then he's fine.

So while constitutional remedies are generally best, every once in a while we need a remedy for acute symptoms
