Hello,

I am a practicing homeopath and will be moving to Los Angeles in two months time. I was wondering what the average rate for homeopathic sessions are and if most people rent rooms or give a percentage of their fees to centers they work at? How much do you rent rooms for, and what percentage is usually given to centers?

Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Rates go from $100 for an hour and half- more likely
$150 to $350 to $400 for famous homeopaths.
Being part of a Center- you would have to drive around
Los Angeles and see where you want to be- It is a huge
area. Many alternative healers are in Santa Monica.
Santa Monica is near the airport so most people are used to
having to drive to the airport and don't resist that location
as much as other places.

It very much depends on location here- you have to drive
everywhere and traffic is monster traffic. So where you
are going to live- you probably should work. Figure that
out first, and then you may want to practice in your apt.
or house. Prices for being part of a center will vary in
a wide range and how they set it up will be different also.

Los Angeles is known for not feeling like it is a place.
Downtown has a good area and young people are there.
But downtown is surrounded by scary areas and if you
are a woman, I would not do it unless I knew people.
The Beach cities are nice, safe and quiet- they feel like
their own personality. Santa Monica and Venice are
pricey and have a huge population of homeless people. The
other ones do not.
Pasadena is its own place but you have to be on right part of
town. I suggest the Beach cities of Hermosa, Redondo and parts
of Torrance------------------------------------
the least stressful part of Los Angeles, and there are trees
here-plus the ocean.

Great! Thanks so much for your very thorough response. I am also wondering however how much I should expect to give of each of my sessions to the center? I've been offered a place in one center in SilverLake, but the owner is requesting that she take 60% of my fees which I find quite high. What is the average rate in this case?

Hi Simone,

Just had another question. The center I may be working at has offered me place but will take 60% of my fees, and this will include space, receptionist, and client referrals, as well as marketing on the website etc. I still feel 60% is too much to give up. Do you know what the typical fee structure would be in a case like this?

Thanks again for being so forthcoming with information. I don't know where else to go or who else to ask about these things.

Best,
Rena

Do you have to sign a lease? It might not be a bad idea,
if you can do a 6 month lease, and just 'land' somewhere
and get the feel of Los Angeles. I would contact the other
practitioners in the complex and ask them how satisfied
they are with the place.

Rents are not cheap in SilverLake or Santa Monica-Venice,
which is another hub of alternative medicine- You would
probably be paying $1500 and up for your own office.
Which is why I said it would be good to have a home office.

All else I can suggest is to google medical office space and
non medical office space in
Silverlake, Santa Monica and Venice and compare deals,
and you can go onto google street maps and look at
the building and then also contact the other tenants
for a review. However, if you can do a 6 month lease it
might be easier on you and make decisions after you
are here.
