High fever in 2 yr old

Hi:
I have a 2 year old boy, and in last o18 months , he had fever about 3-4 times. Every time the fever starts in the afternoon, when he comes back from the day care. In next 2 - 3 hour, the fever shoots up like anything, upto 102.5(Under armpit), and at that time we find no other option, but to dip him in warm water and give him allopathic fever reducer. However the fever comes back again in 3 - 4 hours, and I have to give him the allopathic medicine again. This cycle continues, but the duration for which the medicine works increases and in about 3-4 days, the fever goes away.
He is generally a very good eater, but after the fever his appetite is completely gone. Although he drinks water well. During the fever also, his thirst is pretty good. When he has high fever, his lips are pretty red.
From my research, I found out ferrum phos, pulsetills, and belledonna, but do not know the doses to provide, or the potency, or even they are the right remedy or not. IT would be great if some one can recommend a remedy. I just hate to give the 2 year old fever reducer 4 times a day..

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mitra,

Could you please provide more information regarding his symptoms during fever?

1. Thirst: For cold water? quenchable? or repeatedly asks for more water? How much does he drink at a time?

2. Does he desire covering/ warm clothes during fever? Or does he kick off the covering?

3. Sweat? where? profuse/ scanty? offensive?

4. His condition: How does he appear during fever? sleepy/ tired/ weak/ drained out/ just normal and playful/ irritable/ weepy/ clingy ... ?

5. Any other associated complaints: Diarroea/ constipation/ vomitting/ Cough/ cold/ difficulty in passing urine...

6. How is his tongue when he has fever? moist/ dry/ coated/ red...

From whatever information you have provided, it is a bit difficult to come to the correct remedy. Also, are the symptoms SAME everytime he gets fever? Because, if they are different, he might need different remedies everytime.

Belladonna is worth considering, but needs confirmation.

Take care...

Belladona in the first instance use 30c - one tablet , or dissolve in water and give a teaspoonful - plastic spoon.

Again on going to bed.

For three days ONLY.

wait a week to be sure of result - if ok use again when condition gets worse again.

?? is there any poss cause of problem at day care??

Pulsatilla can be used if effects of Bell wear off.

And Silica follows Puls. But NOt the Silica from this site - you need to specify Silicea!.

Hi:
here is the reply to the questions that you have asked. PLease help to find a remedy.

Could you please provide more information regarding his symptoms during fever?

1. Thirst: For cold water? quenchable? or repeatedly asks for more water? How much does he drink at a time?

A-- It is quenchable. He drinks 2-3 sips and then stops. But he drinks often. Never been dehydrated

2. Does he desire covering/ warm clothes during fever? Or does he kick off the covering?
A-- It seems that he does not care. We cover him less during fever, and he never drags his blanket on him.

3. Sweat? where? profuse/ scanty? offensive?

A-- He does not sweat During fever at all. Under the influence of medicine when the fever comes down, he sweats on his neck and back of the head

4. His condition: How does he appear during fever? sleepy/ tired/ weak/ drained out/ just normal and playful/ irritable/ weepy/ clingy ... ?

A- He is not weepy. You can say he is nagging , irritable, and clingy. He is pretty active an playful if the fever is less, and slows down and lies down or sits in a place when the fever is high
5. Any other associated Acomplaints: Diarroea/ constipation/ vomitting/ Cough/ cold/ difficulty in passing urine...

A-- Nothing else. He most of the time had viral infection

6. How is his tongue when he has fever? moist/ dry/ coated/ red...
His lips and tongue were red. Lip was pretty read

Thanks
