Morning/ Nights - Heavy sneezing/ blocked nose in Bangalore, India

Kind Attn.

This is regarding my problem of heavy sneezing and blocked and running nose as soon as I get up in the morning. Yes, nose is blocked but still is flowing with clear transparent mildly thick mucus/ discharge. Only for 1-2 hrs in the morning. And 1-2 hours while going to sleep. Sometimes it doesnt happen in the nights at all. But morning it is regular.

1. Age/Sex/Country/Climate:
33/male/Bangalore,India (previously Gurgaon)/Cold and Chilly Bangalore Climate

2. Current complain - from how long:
: I have been staying in Gurgaon from 2009 till 2013. Visit Bangalore occasionally. Just a month back I was in Bangalore for 3 weeks. Stayed at Bellandurand there’s a park with lot of trees right outside my flat on the 2nd floor. Not sure if it was the Bangalore chilly weather in the mornings or the pollen or dust or the recent paint Job that had finished at his house. But the problem was every morning – I would be forced to get up by 5.30 – 6 AM with constant sneezing and blocked nose. (mostly one nostril). Insipite of the blocked nose they kept running. The same would repeat when I would go to sleep during the night. At the end of 3 weeks as soon as I boarded the AC compartment of the train, everything stopped. No sneeze, no running nose, no blocked nose!
Now after 3 weeks I have permanently moved to Bangalore and staying at the same flat. As soon as I landed in Bangalore, the next morning onwards, every single morning I have the same symptoms. I get up in the morning 7-8 AM and as soon as I step out of the bed either one or two nostrils are blocked and itchy nose, becomes very sensitive. Even if I blow the nose I start sneezing. If I wipe the nose I start sneezing. And its constant. Once every 10 second or so. No headache, no fever, no bodyache. This will continue for 1-2 hours till I reach my office. Most of the days, by the time I have breakfast and sit on the bike its all normal.
Some days even in the office AC I do have one nostril blocked throughout the day. But no sneezes. Just blocked nose.
I assumed it could be because of dust or pollen or cold weather in the mornings and nights which are typical of Bangalore. But what I want to point out here is that I have stayed in Bangalore from 2004-2008 and I never had any such issues.

3. Current medicine you are taking:
None, I had chronic bronchitis when I was a kid because of inhaling the gas during Bhopal Gas Tragedy. After a lot of tests and medication, finally a 10 Rs medicine helped me. Drosera 30. This cured my bronchitis completely. But I still keep it with me when ever I have wheezing cough. No other medicines as such. The only other medicine I am currently taking is once called 'Paternia'. This is mainly a Zinc supplement advised by Gynaec for family planning to better the sperm count and reduce motility rate.

4. Sign & Symptom of disease:
As stated in No. 2 apart from that eyes water slightly during sneezing. Rest of the day its fine.

5. Breif medical history:
As explained in detail in No. 2

6. Family Back Ground:
Both Mother and Father have Diabetes and its hereditary. Apart from that I am healthy with no other major ailments other than lower back pain. As I suffer from Disc Herniation. The fluid between the the discs has diminished. So as long as I take care of it I don’t complain of Back pain.

7. Education and Nature of Profession of Patient:
Graduated, working in the IT Industry, Software engineer.9-5 Job. Mostly in front of laptop. But I try to maintain good posture and take proper breaks.

8. Desires and aversion of food:
Prefer hot food, likes meat, chicken , egg, rich food .Aversion to cold food and non rich food. Not really into junk food but into spicy food. Not into sweets. Not into a lot of salads etc. Have it occasionally. Strong sexual urges

9. Mind-behavior, anger, irritability, hurry..etc.:
Get irritated easily, Mild tempered, Impatient, worried under stress and strains. very social, talkative, likes gatherings, no problem in public speaking, Off late I take a lot of stress in planning. Over planning at some times.

10. What makes it worse and what makes it better:
It is worse in the morning and sometimes in nights. Other than that lying down makes it worse. As soon as I get up, I feel the nostrils are openings. Lying down make me feel they are getting blocked.

11. Thirst/Tongue/diabetic...:
Thirst is normal, no coating on tongue as such, normal reddish/ pinkish color/ no diabetes so far (family history is yes)

Please suggest what medicine I can take to get rid of this problem.

very similar to it...
I was in delhi before coming to bangalore in 2007 ...I was okay with delhi kind of whether even it was very  hot in summer and very chilli in winter ..
After coming to bangalore I use to sneeze quite often but did not noticed it for few months.... slowly slowly problem increased... then I found that usually my one nostrill is always closed ..not always the same.but yes felt like blockage.....morning after waking up I used to sneeze for more than 100 times..lots of mucuous used to come out but no signs of getting finished...felt like to cut nose...
I tried homeopathic ayurvedic allopathic acupuncture kerela nasayam...everything I tried but of no help..by the time problem became more severe and I started wheezing..
Later I found that this is common problem in bangalore and I should go for allergic tests... gone for allergic test which  was very detailed and cost me abiut 6000 that time... it was found that I am allergic to dust mites... so whenever I used be out I was okay and the moment I sleep on bed allergic reactions start as mites will be there on bed , linen , pillows etc... so due to allergic reaction thick mucuous will generate in night and it will travel towards lungs so one will feel itching  in throat and finally it will block lungs so wheezing is outcome...plus sneezing in morning...
There is no solution for mites as it will generate more in bangalore kind of whether..neither too hot nor too cold...curent situation I still sneeze..take allergy pills ..use inhaler whenever blockage happens..only one thing which helped me to fight this problem was yoga so join some yoga class in morning. .I stopped due to some reasons and my problem started again...

Summary
You are not alone who is suffering here ...leave bangalore before it increase...I hv less opportunity in north the reaon I am still sitting here...
Go for allergy test if you want to continue here
Try allegra and see next day you will not have any sneezing... other tablets are allerid which will give you sleep but you can try in night... bettef take allegra...
Join yoga...

Hi Guys

I have the exact problems as described by you. My sneezing will just not stop. Some days I'll sneeze 100-200 times and still no relief.

I am living in Bangalore since June 2010 but I developed this allergy only since June 2014, i.e. no problems for first 4 years.

And as you guys mentioned, my problem completely disappears when I travel Delhi or Agra (my hometown). Even dust had no affect on me. Its just that Bangalore whether or something is causing this allergic reaction. And the strange fact is that, I had no problem for first 4 years. None of my friends have such chronic allergies.

Solution:
To get instant relief, I take Montair LC 10 tablet. It contains a common anti-allergic: levocitrizine and another salt Montelukast. This is the drug which has proved very effective for me. It works in 1-3 hours and the effects last upto 2 days. But then I have to take it again. At first I took it straight for 15 days, and faced no issues. But after 2 days, all symptoms appeared. So this is only for acute relief.

Earlier I used to sneeze 100-200 times a day. This sneezing also aggravated my lower back pain (your spine is under a lot of pressure when you sneeze). Although I have completely cured my back pain through mild exercises, my sneezing is still there.

One local doctor suggested an Ayurvedic medicine for allergy: "Himalaya Bresol". I took two tablets 2 times a day for 2 months. And beleive it or not, my symptoms were very much diminished. I still sneeze, but only 20-20 times and mostly during early morning and late nights. I try to endure the discomfort as long as possible. And when it gets too much I take one "Montelukast" tablet to relieve it. The local doctor prescribed this Ayurvedic medicine for 4-6 months. I am planning to take it for 6 months now and hopefully it gets cured completely.
