8 week old son with colic and acid reflux

my son has acid reflux and colic. the first four weeks were very hard. he cried most of the day and night. he would not sleep unless we held him. he is on formula and eats good. but does spit up. he is very gassy. he would arch his back all the time when he would cry. we took him off his medication and have been using nat phos 6x. i give him it 3 times a day. and recently started only giving it twice a day. his painful crying and arching his back have improved a lot and is much better. he is sleeping now in a sleeper at night. his colic is very bad during the day. he does good after his first feeding in the morning. he plays in his bouncy and we sing songs. after the next feeding he cries on and off all day. his fussy and crying times are usually between 11 ;00am and 4:00pm. he will calm down after a while when i am holding him. if i lay him down he wakes up crying. when he cries he arches his back sometimes but not as severe as before. would you be able to help me with my sons colic.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I can never emphasize the importance of breast milk enough which is the best food for the baby and doesn't cause any problems. Anyways.

For your son, give him a dose of Colocynth 30 and report back.

One dose only. Here is how: Dissolve the pill in half glass of cold, boiled water. Give from that glass one tea spoon. That's it.

If this doesn't work, we will need more details on symptoms.

Ok. thank you. Can I still give him the nat phos 6x. I will get the colocynth 30 and report back.

can i provide any additional symptoms that would help with the right remedy?

Any problems during pregnancy & delivery.

You wrote 'we took him off his medication' which one was that.

How does he respond to pressure or any warm application on abdomen when he is crying with colic.

What do you mean that he will not sleep unless you hold him, do you mean carry him or rock him.

Any breathing/nose issues.

Does he drink milk reluctantly or with happiness. Are you forcing the feed.

How is his stool.

Does he feel warm or chilly mostly.

no pregnancy problems. delivery was fast. the doctor sent me home after 5 hours of being in the hospital at 4.5 cm. we went back to the hospital about three hours later when i noticed some bleeding. he was born in 7 minutes when we got back to the hospital.

he was on zantac for about 3 weeks.

we do not put pressure on his belly. some soft belly massaging. we have his diaper loose and not tight. we dress him in pajamas or onsies so added pressure is not bothering him. my husband tried once to burb him applying pressure over his knee and he cried very badly.

at night he will sleep in his sleeper. during the day he usually will only sleep if i am holding him. i can be sitting, walking or rocking with him. when i goto lay him down in his sleeper he wakes up usually within 15 minutes. he does great in car rides and stroller walks.

no breathing or nose issues.

he drinks his bottle very good. when he sleeps longer in between feedings at night he sometimes wants more. he spits up some. more during the day than at night. he does project huge amounts.

it is usually normal consistency. sometimes a lil thinner. he does have a bowel movement average of twice a day. he does pass a lot of gas.

he feels mostly warm. he seems to do better when he is warmer. when he wakes up at night he at times is sweaty.

i am sorry. the question regarding eating his bottle. he does NOT project huge amounts.

Erin, just so you know correct facts about colic, it is a condition found in
babies until 3 or 4 months of age. They usually gain weight normally,
and the actual cause is unknown. It is not life threatening and usually
goes away on its own in a matter of weeks.

I want you to know, that many breast feeding Moms have babies
with this problem. You can put colic in the search box at the top of
forum and see the tons of cases on this forum with BREASTFEEDING
MOTHERS.

Fitness says,, if breast feeding, you won't have any problems. This is wrong and he
has already been told this previously. So do not feel any guilt over what
he is alluding to. He frequently guilt trips or posts negative
things about subjects he is not even being asked about,
and has wrong information along with it.

Regards,

Simone717

You can try the colocynthis 30 c 3 times 4 hours apart,
if there is any improvement stop and wait till things
come back. If you have tried this 3 x and no improvement
you need to try another remedy bc the remedy is wrong.

This is a temporary acute illness, and my homeopathic
baby and children's book by a classical homeopath suggest
2 to 3 pills mixed in a tablespoon of water as a dose,

Please give him Colocynth 30c dose as advised above and report back.

Simone: Making someone aware about the advantages of breastfeeding is not sending them down a guilt trip. I hope you Google sometime and learn about the benefits of breast milk and why it is the ONLY best thing for the baby. I don't need to copy it here as many books have already been written on this.

Please stop all other homeopathic remedies, give only Colocynth 30c as described above.

Why was he on Zantac?

fitness,

I am well aware of the advantages of bf as I bf my own children,
and one of them had colic.

You are glossing over your error , which you do time
and again, by saying if you bf you will NOT have these problems.
Which is a lie. And fosters a belief in Mothers they have
caused a problem with colic, when in fact they have not.

I call this patient Abuse, subtle but it is psychological
covert abuse by purposely not giving correct information.

This post is about colic , not breast feeding and the fact
that you told the other Mom who was not breast feeding
that it was 'criminal' unless she had a valid reason -is
why the moderator erased that line as way out of order.

Simone

I am amazed at your sense of reality and how twisted it is, seeing things which are not there!

I have always qualified my statements about breast feeding i.e. unless there is a real genuine issue, not breast feeding a child out of convenience is if not criminal, what else.

fitness last decade
yep. You just proved my point.

simone717 last decade
fitness,

Once again, please stick to the facts. Nowhere in the world is it actually criminal to not breast feed.

Everybody knows bottlefeeding is not actually criminal.

Furthermore, colic affects equally breast fed and bottle fed babies. (though formula fed babies do get more reflux.)

I say again though, please try to choose your words more carefully.

Moderator, its a figure of speech, its not meant in the literal sense !!

fitness last decade
Have you ever heard of the term-
VERBAL ABUSE?

simone717 last decade
Fitness, yes, I can see that.

But I maintain that it's an inappropriate figure of speech.
