Frequent Urge to Defecate

This forum has been quite helpful to me since I stumbled upon it several months ago, and I am hoping it will be helpful in this particular instance!

My husband, age 32, had hernia surgery just over a year ago, and since then his digestion has been off kilter. It seems as though food doesn't have time to break down before it is passed though!

What I've noted:

He always feels like he will need a restroom soon, whether its true or not. He frequently goes to the restroom and eliminates nothing.

His stools are, pardon the comparison, like "soft serve" ice cream. They are also very flaky. He usually has about three of these stools a day, but as many as six.

His diet is as rich in fiber as his body seems to be able to bear, but he seems quite sensitive. A barley soup, for instance, will back him up all day and make him miserable. Admittedly, his diet has been quite unhealthy until about a year ago, when he began to introduce whole foods and (gasp!) vegetables into it. He has a moderate intake of fats and a good deal of his protein comes from veggies, though he does eat red meat 3-5 times a week.

He drinks a good deal of water but he does drink at least a liter of Diet Pepsi a day.

His stool contains whole, undigested food on occasion: peas, leafy things, etc.

He tried enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules, but they speed through him at an alarming rate. It didnt seem right that the peppermint burned on the way out...is it really some type of bathroom freshener??

I have been wary of fiber supplements, given his reaction to fiber-rich foods. He is not opposed to trying it; I just dont want to worsen his condition.

It may be unrelated, but he also developed some serious face and body acne around the same time. This condition resists everything topical we've tried.

His doctors have dismissed this as a temporary and normal state. I cannot imagine how it can be, but I have exhausted all my resources...perhaps one of you has a lead for getting this man on the path to relief. Thank you in advance to anyone with any suggestions.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
From the details you give Podophyllyn seems the most likely - if there is much "runbling" that would conirm.

But if he is a very fastidious tidy person then Ars alb

Or

If very untidy Sulfur/

At first use a single dose of 1m potency and observe the effect.

I doubt you'll see this Mousey, being 16 months later, but I would love to hear what has happened to your husband.

I have exactly the symptoms you described, and no doctor or supplement or diet helps.

The first reply to your post is basically gibberish. If someone could translate it for me, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for replying!

Here are my symptoms:

-Irregular bowel movements. 4 in one day, none in another.

-Lower back pain (usually left side, and not 'spinal' back pain, more like a cramp)

-Rectal fullness. Even after a movement, it feels full. Also it can burn and itch at times.

-Leakage. Not much at all, but a mucus like substance.

-Acne. I'm good for a month or so, then the irregular movements happen, and I break out on my face like crazy. They are definitely related.

Now to answer the questions

-rumbling? im not sure but whenever this happens my stomach is always uneasy, unsettled.

-yes it usually spurts or gushes out.

-the color is normal.

-the odor is normal.

-it does relieve me, yes.

-see other ailments above.

-my nature? anxiety prone i think. no cravings.

-hot or cold? I don't understand.

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

the remedies which are indicated are PHOS ACID and CHINA.

as you said the disease started after the surgery, its to be considered that its basically due to excess blood loss and resulting debility.

start with CHINA 30C three doses a day for some days.

if you do not get any relief in about a week, go to PHOS ACID 12C three times a day for some days.

one of the two would be helpful.

I'm sorry, please let me clarify. I had no surgery myself, but I do have almost those exact same symptoms. I figured that whatever helped her husband could possibly work for me.

ray, its to be kept in mind that in homoeopathy the etiology is as important as the collective set of symptoms and modalities. if you didnt have any surgery, possibly ARS ALB or SULPHUR might help you based on your personality type, as walking said. try it.
