The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Fitness, Irregular periods and acne

1. Your age & sex : female age 22

2. Describe your appearance i.e. weight, height, body type : 4’11”, 105 pounds, light brown hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion, petite

3. What are the symptoms of your main health problem : 2 main problems. (1) late, irregular periods which occur at best every 6 weeks. I have never had a period once a month since I started when I was 15 years old. (2) acne on my face. The acne is the little bumps, sometimes red but not always. Acne is primarily on my cheeks and forehead.

4. How & when did this main problem begin : Both problems began at the onset of puberty, around 14 for acne, irregular periods at 15

5. What makes the main problem better and what makes it worse : problem (1)- I haven’t found anything that makes me more regular. I have a healthy gluten free diet, drink plenty of water, very rare to have soft drinks (<1 per week). When I am on my period I do have cramps and nausea. Heating pad, warm liquids seem to make me feel better. Problem (2) I have dry skin, so any type of acne soap or even prescription acne medication seems to make my skin dry, crack, and peel. I only wash my face now with a mixture of castor oil and olive oil. Acne is better, but still there. Acne does get worse right before my period.

6. What other health problems do you have : I am allergic to gluten. I react with severe cramps, diarrhea, nausea

7. How do you feel emotionally : Often stressed and fatigued. I am a college student majoring in violin performance and German which is highly demanding. On top of all my course work, I have to practice 4-6 hours per day.

8. Describe your personality : I am a people pleaser. I don’t like conflict and I tend to try to get along with everyone. I am very sensitive to other people’s feelings and very empathetic. I want all my teachers to know I always try my best and look at my grades as proof that I am working hard. (I tend to worry that I might not always get an A). Because I am empathetic, I make friends easily but I realize that I don’t always see people as they truly are—I see the best in them until proved otherwise.

9. How do you relax : Sleeping, studying my German, Knitting, reading

10. Do you normally fight or flight : flight

11. What are you afraid of (situations, animals etc) : I am afraid of spiders and bugs. As far as situations, I am afraid that someone might not think well of me.

12. What occupies your mind mostly : School and my future after school

13. How do you respond to consolation & sympathy : I appreciate it and it makes me feel loved and cared for.

14. Do you want to stay alone or with people : I like to be around people but I don’t like to be the center of attention. I enjoy being quiet and alone.

15. How is your sleep : I usually sleep well because I am so tired, but sometimes my mind has a tough time shutting down.

16. Do you have any recurring dreams : Not being prepared for something in school like a test.

17. What type of weather do you like and how it affects your complaints : I love cold weather. I feel better in the cooler weather and hot weather makes me feel worse overall.

18. Do you normally feel hot or cold : Warm to hot

19. What types of clothes you wear : lightweight shirts, jeans, comfortable shoes, long flowing comfortable dresses (Maxi dresses)

20. What foods you love & hate : I love popcorn and chips, dark chocolate, fruit smoothies

21. What taste you love & hate (sweet, salty, sour, bitter) prefer salt first then sweet

22. Do you want to eat indigestible foods (chalk, mud….) No

23. How is your thirst : I drink a fair amount of water so I don’t often feel thirsty

24. Do you have dry lips & mouth : dry lips

25. Any coating on tongue first thing in the morning : no

26. How is your skin : My face has the acne I mentioned above. I have fair skin and I don’t sunbathe. I do have places where my skin color isn’t even like my back.

27. Details about your sweat (perspiration) : I perspire moderately in my armpits when it is hot or when I get really nervous before a performance. I don’t have sweaty palms or feet.

28. Any problems with ears, nose, chest, throat : Occasional sinus drainage.

29. How is your stool & urine : My urine is pale yellow in color, going almost clear as the day progresses because of my water intake. If I get dehydrated, it will get darker. I stool 1-2 times per day (typically once) and it’s color and texture varies based on my diet.

30. How is your sexual life & desire : I am single and have never been sexually active at all. I do have plenty of sex drive.

31. Males genitals (erection, pain etc.)

32. Females menses details for regularity, flow, clots, discharge other than menses : Irregular menses every 6-12 weeks. Heavy the first day with cramps and nausea. No big clots or anything. Lighter each day for the remaining 4 days, but still have periodic bouts of cramps and nausea until the end.

33. What illnesses are running in your family, mother’s side & father’s side & brothers/sisters: My father is very healthy—age 50, active, no high blood pressure or anything. My mother is overall healthy, but has problems with cysts and fibroids and she had very irregular periods as well. My brother has no health problems.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please explain how does the acne look like (size, pus, pain etc)

If you were to use single word adjectives how would you describe your traits e.g. irritable, obstinate, restless, tearful etc.

How do you know you are allergic to gluten, eating what causes what?

How frequently you get these dreams

Please tell about your level of thirst, not how much you drink

Please explain symptoms of sinus drain

Where do you feel period cramps

Please explain how does the acne look like (size, pus, pain etc) : very small raised bumps (called papules), typically no pus though occasionally one or two my develop a head before my period. There is no pain, though occasionally itchy possibly because my skin tends to be dry.

If you were to use single word adjectives how would you describe your traits e.g. irritable, obstinate, restless, tearful etc. Doubtful

How do you know you are allergic to gluten, eating what causes what? Eating anything containing gluten causes severe stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. I had an allergy test done as well as verifying the cause by trial and error.

How frequently you get these dreams: every couple weeks

Please tell about your level of thirst, not how much you drink : I don't feel like I'm thirsty but I sip on water as much as possible anyway.

Please explain symptoms of sinus drain : when certain trees/grasses are growing I may get some congestion, some drainage down the back of my throat which makes my throat sore.

Where do you feel period cramps. Low down in my abdomen and sometimes even in my bottom.

How do you feel mentally & emotionally before, during & after menses (explain all 3 stages) : before- I often feel much more emotional (anxious, insecure), during- more easily aggravated by things and to a greater degree than at any other time of my cycle; after- my emotions level out quickly to my more natural state

How do you feel about being outdoors, open air, rather cold : I prefer being outdoors when possible. I'll open a window to get in fresh air especially if it is chilly outside. It clears my mind and lightens my spirits.

Nausea during periods, is it all the time or any particular time its worse - worse just before and on first couple of days, gradually going away during the course of my period. I do sometimes get headaches as well on my period, occasionally migraines which add to nausea.

Are you doubtful or suspicious - no, I tend to believe the best about people

Would you consider yourself indecisive : no, cautious and thoughtful, but once I make a decision I stick with it.

Any particular sleeping position (e.g. double pillows, sleep on any side)

You prefer cold or hot food/drinks
I prefer hot foods

I believe your remedy is Pulsatilla 200c.

Please take two doses 12 hrs apart. Just two doses. Not daily.

One dose is one pill. Dissolve the pill under the tongue.

First dose: At night before sleeping.

Second dose: 12 hrs after the first dose.

Report back with changes observed.
