Allergy??? Help

For around 3 months now I have been suffering from the following: itching all over, but much worse terrible itching on eyelids and around the eyes - side which is worse varies from time to time, though often the right eye goes first. There is swelling of the eyelids and around the eyes with redness. Swelling is worse in the mornings. Skin around the eyes is dry and the redness starts in the creases of the eye initially then spreads. The odd time when it improves, the skin becomes very dry and then starts to get better. I feel it is slightly better when I am outside, but not certain about that. Hot damp applications to the eye help the itching a little. Sometime swelling is so bad on eyelids and area up towards brow that the eye doesn't open fully in the morning. The swelling generally lessens a little after waking, but remains. Tried apis, rhus-t but no real difference. 3 sessions of acupuncture and herbs helped for a while, but latest treatment, eyes have been itchy and lids swollen since. In desperation went to GP who gave me antihistamine and steroid cream. I refused steroid cream, but tried one antihistamine - it made swelling worse, far worse. (Knew I shouldn't have taken that!) Otherwise, the skin on my hands is very dry, and also now on cheeks. Have had some little bumps under eyes - itchy, like pompholyx (?spelling). I am VERY VERY thirsty. Feel a bit down as this horrible thing drags on. Sorry for the long post, but can anyone suggest anything? I've never had allergies until a brief bout of this with minimal swelling a few years ago which got better with rhus-t. Thanks in advance very much for all and any help
