I am 62 yrs of age. I get cramps in my calf muscles when i stretch my legs. This normally happens ony in bed when i am on rest and during night. Sometimes these cramps are very painful .
I have observed that my sweat galnds inmy face and head become so active I sweat profusely when I take even mild spices, salty or hot foods. The sweating Is confined to face and head only. I also have cold sweat mostly on my head when I go for walk in the morning. I walk about 5 Km in the morning eventhougugh I do not feel tired or have any other difficulties I have a tendency to sweat heavily even after mild exertion. My blood pressure is 140/90.I am not diabetic .I have normal health . I am a vegetarian.I take alcohol twice or three times a week about 2 or 3 drinks and smoke two or three cigerettes a day. I am not obese. Somebody has suggested Cuprum and some has suggested Calc Carb I'm confused
ThanksI would be grateful to have your advice for my night cramps.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
i think you should try "sulpher 200" 1 dose only before breakfast. then tell me about the progress.
dr sajid.

Since you are not obese, Cal Carb is ruled out.
Now the correct way would be that you first try Nux Vomica and if that does not help, you take Cuprum Met. Both medicines in 30 potency, 8 hourly. If you agree, I will give you the procedure.

I am indeed so grateful to you all for the prompt response. Mr sahai I have indeed tried Nux Vom and Cuprum 30 just one dose and left. Please tell me the way how I should takethese remedies .Can I try Sulfur first as Sajaad has suggested or I should try Nux Vom first or cuprum. Please advice which of these remedies I should try first and also the sequence and how many doses per day for how many days
Thanking you all

It is for you to decide between the two precriptions.

Buy Nux 30 and Cuprum 30,1 drachm each(liquid medicine). Put 1 drop in 1 ounce of distilled water/non-medicinal spring water(boiled)/rain water(collected after it has rained for a few minutes)/drinking water(boiled) and shake it vigorously at least 10 times. Out of this, use 1 tea-spoonful as a dose.

Take 8 hourly. Shake,as before, every time, just before taking the next dose.

Try Nux for a week at least first and then Cuprum.

Do not put strong smelling things(including tooth paste) in the mouth one hour before and after taking the medicine.

Keep reporting regularly.

Dear Mr Sahai,
Thanks very much foryour kind reply.I did not have Sulphur 200 or Cuprum Met 30 with me readily and hence I took one dose Of Nux Vom 30 ,two drops diluted in about 50 ml water before going to bed . I realised, the cramps were not as painful as they used to be. I will start using Nux Vom as suggested by you and give you the feed back.
When I posted my mail yesterday I have not included the following points which may be of some help to you for future course of advice.
I have a dull sore aching bruised/burnt like pain since last couple of months which To start with I realised this pain in a small portion on my left foot which I feel is covering a larger area. The pain is realised in the entire ligaments and nerve bundles as well..To be a little more specific about the pain it is dull aching sore and bruised as though the part has been exposed to heat and burnt or like being wrenched . I am unable to express the same more than this and this pain is distressing nature and I am unable to walk freely as I used to be.The Xray picture do not show any abonormalites
I wake up in early hours around 3 AM and immediately have to ease my bowels. I have lot of gas in my lower abdomen. Some times I have profuse sweating in the bed as a result of abodominal discomfort which becomes normal after passing the bowel.
I am growingly getting intolerent to even small issues and i more irritable.I hope these points may be of help to you
In the meantime I will proceed with Nux Vom as suggested by you
Thanks
regards
Venkat

Can you give the exact location of the small area on your left foot where the pain started and the direction in which it is spreading? You say that the pain is realised in the entire ligaments and nerve bundles. Again, please try to describe the area of your foot(eg.position of affected spot with respect to ankle/toes/heel,upper surface of foot or lower surface( sole). In which area do you find the pain increasing as you walk? Do you have the pain all the time?

Do you know the cause of this problem, any injury, how? Do you do a lot of jogging on you toes? Did you do heavy load carrying?

Nux will also help your gas filled abdomen. I do not want to give another remedy for it immediately unless we have properly milked Nux.

Dear Mr sahai,
Thank you very much for your reply
To start with I realised the pain just about one inch below the big finger towards the ankle direction on the neveson the upper surface
of the foot and bone joints of the big finger. To my knowladge the cause is not due to any injury ,but a more probable due to over
straining as you had guessed it to be.The pain is now being realised in the upward portion towards the ankle both on the on the upper and lower surface of the foot.I have started the second and the regular dose of Nux Vom as you had advised and I could see my foot is also relaxed to some extent.I do not want to make any hasty conclusion and cloud your obsevations . As suggested by you I will post my regular updates when
ever I feel any significant changes take place. In the meantime I will continue Nuxvom three doses aday for one week
Recently I have checked up my blood for lipid profile ,liver functions and also sugar and are with in normal values.
Looking forward to your advice
Thanks

Dear Mr sahai,
As advised by you I have been taking Nux Vom30 3 times .I would like to give you the feed back as follows
Sleep is refreshing although I continue to wake up at 3 am as ealier but getsback to sleep after sometime .
My abdominal symptoms are improving for the better and I am not driven out of the bed to ease my bowel as before.I am able to clear my bowels easier and the stools are well formed not much gas or distress in the abdomen. I feel slightly more relaxed. I still continue to get Cramps and have noticed that I get these cramps even during day time also and comes only during rest.I feel my calf muscles are weak after thes cramps.I notice these cramps are not thatpainful on two three out of tenoccurences.I feel the pain in my leftfoot changing its nature to be specific can be described as
aching/ sore/bruised after a blow and is realised on the nerves and bones more on the upper surface than the lower partof the foot and is felt from ankle to the big finger .The pains are felt more some time after Iexert use my foot .
I continue my medication as advised by you

The latter part of last but one sentence of your last posting is not clear. Please elucidate.

Also, please let me know whether the pain is all the time in left foot or only while walking? If in walking, when you start from rest with pain, does the pain gradually reduce in the process of walking or it gradually become worse?

Any reason why only left foot is having pain? How much are you normally using your legs besides 5 km daily walk? Are you still walking 5 km with your troubled leg and treatment side by side? Is the left leg better now, in general, with the treatment?

Dear Mr sahai
Thank you very much for your reply. The last but one sentence of my last post is
I Quote again
"The pains are felt more sometime after I exert my foot"
UnQuote
To answer you queriies
1)The pain is felt all the time but increases after a while when I use my foot continuously. The pain which is dull in nature gradually increases after sometime.
2)Unless it is warranted I try to avail every small opprtunity to use my legs besides my usual walk of 5 Kms in the morning to keep myself fit .
3)Because of the pain I do not want to strain my foot much and therefore have not gone for my regular walk for the last fortnight.
4)I could feel one remote cause for the pain may be due to applying excess pressure to the front portion of my left footbelow the big finger when I try to keep steady pace during my morning walk. Probably this has caused the hurt to the nerve and bone ??
Looking forward to your advice

You have basically two problems: (a) Stomach disorder for which you are taking Nux and you are improving.(b) Your left foot because your walking style is defective. For this you take Arnica30C in the same way as Nux,alternating with it. Until your foot becomes ok give least exertion to your foot and thereafter never punish it to the point of pain. Also, have some cosideration for your age now. Your calf muscles cramp will be ok with this Arnica only. Good luck.

Dear Mr sahai,
Thank you very much for your prompt response which was quite personal and coforting . I shall alternate Nux and Arnica as advised and keep you updated on the progress . Mr sahai assure you that I will not unnecessarily hurt /punish my foot . Please let me know what time gap is needed while alternating the two remedies Nux and Arnica may be 30 minutes or less??
Please advise

Half way between 2 doses of any one of them.

sahai last decade
Dear Mr sahai,
Thanks for your message .I have started medication with NuxVom and Arnica alternating them as suggested by you.I will keep you posted on the progress.
I have one genuine doubt about administration of homeopathic remedies which may be clarified. In accordance with the homeopathic principles remedies are prescribed on the basis of totality of
symptoms and only one remedy is administered one dose and wait for the reaction. If totality of
symptoms are not covered by one remedy and a second remedy has to be prescribed then the first remedy is administered to clear the symptom which occured last and then the second
remedy to compete the cure . Cure from center to surface and then bottom to cetnter.. I would be grateful if this point is clarified .I sincerly hope you will not mistake me for raising this query and assure you that I have complete faith in your prescriptions
Thanking you Mr Sahai

While prescribing, I was expecting this query from some inexperienced colleague of mine not you. You seem to know something of homeopathy. It would be interesting for you to go to the thread "Attack on Homeopathy" and read my article towards the end.

Your foot problem is self- invited unknowingly from outside and is not due to a source inside your system, like having a fracture/accident. So a seperate medicine is required unless ,by chance, both are covered by the same remedy.

sahai last decade
Dear Mr sahai,
Thanks for very much your reply . I have raised the query only out of sheer interest to know more about prescribing. I am not a qualified homeopath ,but still I thought I can share your experience .Thanking you again Mr Sahai

Moisten thick cloth in a mixture of Arnica Mont and bearable hot water(in the ratio of 1 tea spoon to 1 pint) and wrap the foot and calf and leave it to dry, about 4 times daily. This will hasten relief.

Dear Mr Sahai,
Thanks for your message. I shall try using Arnica tincture for external application as suggested by you.I am continuing Nux Vom and Arnica alternating them. As already reported by me I still have cramps.while my abdominal symptoms have improved and also my pain on my left foot. Please continue for how long I should take Nux and Arnica.I stll have profuse sweating even on mild exertion and also when I take slightly hot, salty /spicy food as mentioned in my first post . Do I need to treat them seperately. Is it possible to bring down my Blood Pressure also which reads now 140/90. I am not taking any medication for this
Thanks
Venkat

realvirgo last decade
For external application please use Arnica Q(mother tincture)

Cramps are due to stressed foot and calf muscles and will go with Arnica.

Substitute Phosphorus30C for Nux. It covers sweating as well as stomach.

Dear Mr Sahai,
