The ABC Homeopathy Forum

My six month old is always in pain :(

The doctors think my baby has silent reflux. My pediatrician prescribed Zantac, I didn't want to give him medicine, but he seemed so upset, so I tried. I gave him the dose prescribed for three days and saw no changes whatsoever, so I stopped. He is now six months old, and no doctor I have taken him to has been able to help. He is entirely breastfed. I tried eliminating dairy.

Here is a brief overview:
1. Symptoms started immediately after birth, he had an all natural birth, I never take medications. He has not been vaccinated.
2. Inconsolable crying, the ONLY thing that helped was bouncing with him on a yoga ball
3. Doesn't like to lay down, doesn't really even like to sit. Prefers standing.
4. Drinks 1-2 ounces at a time and that is a struggle. He seems so hungry, then takes a couple sips, stops and turns his head away or arches his back. If I try to give more he starts crying.
5. Doesn't like to be left only.
6. Gets angry easily.
7. Makes a whining noise pretty much all day. Mmm mmmmm mmm.
8. Baths calm him down.
9. He doesn't spit up very much or too often. It has come out his nose before.
10. He rubs his eyes and nose constantly like they are itching.
11. Wakes up frequently at night. His longest stretch is 2 hours. Wakes up every half an hour to an hour.
12. Gets hiccups easily.
13. Tummy doesn't seem too tight
14. Has lots of gas.
15. Has bowel movements once every 3-5 days. Strains while doing. Stool is soft, but thick like peanut butter mixed with glue.
16. Now that he can roll over, he rolls onto hands and knees and sleeps with his bottom in the air.
17. I don't know if this is relevant, but his belly button is discolored, the blackened skin flakes off revealing pink skin underneath, but just turns black again.
18. His father had an umbilical hernia.
19. Birth was stressful and traumatic for me, I had a lot of stitches. The baby had the umbilical cord wrapped twice around his neck. We went to a chiropractor but symptoms didn't alleviate.
20. When he sweats it is usually on his back, back of the neck and head.
21. Baby was born two days early at 6 lbs., 6 oz.
21. Again, I don't know if this is relevant but during pregnancy I was working a stressful lab job. Sometimes I worked from 6 until 6 without getting sent for a drink of water or a bite to eat.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I guess I should also mention that he is underweight. He is 27 inches long which is a little above average, and he weighs 16 pounds.

Hi-

First try some Cal Phos 6x cell salt. Give the baby 1 tablet
dissolved in a teaspoon of water 3x a day.
You yourself should take 3 tablets 3x a day. Report back
after a couple days of this.

The cell salts balance out the cell metabolism and Cal phos
is often given for babies who reject the mothers milk,
especially if the mother is stressed or angry. Make sure
you are not eating gas producing foods like onions,
cabbage , etc.

If you are in usa, the cell salts are in whole foods, Hylands brand.
Or you can order from Vitacost online or Homeoforce in the UK.

Well, it has been a couple of days now and my little one seems to be doing better. He doesn't cry while drinking and his appetite has increased. The first two days were pretty much the same as always, and he woke up every 20-30 minutes at night. But last night he had two 2 hour stretches and then slept an hour at a time after that! Definitely an improvement. Thank you so much for your help!

Keep this up for a few more days and report in again.

Update:
My son is still eating better, but his sleep issues have reverted back to waking every half an hour at night, I have just been letting him cry himself back to sleep because feeding him, holding him, and singing to him doesn't work. I am exhausted, and I am sure he is too. Any suggestions? And should I continue the cal phos for his feeding issues?

Hi-

You can keep doing the Cal phos for yourself, and for
the baby.

Add in Mag phos 30c -try this up to 3 times with a few
hours gap. If there is improvement, wait until the
sleep starts reverting back to what it was and then give
him another dose of the 30c. Dose is 3 pills dissolved in
a tablespoon of water.

Let me know a day after you try this.

Well, I haven't responded in a while because my son got the flu, and then I got it, followed by mastitis from being too weak to pump/nurse. BUT I do have some news. When Emir had the flu, he didn't eat at all the first couple nights, just a few sips of water. Then my supply tanked and I didn't even have milk for him to drink at night, but luckily those couple of days of not wanting to eat has helped his sleep pattern tremendously. He only wakes up 3-4 times a night now instead of every hour (what he has done since birth). He his eating more during the day and only drinks about one bottle at night. Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it!
